My husband and I just left the antica Torre di via tornabuoni hotel and we couldn't have asked for a better experience! LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!! Walking distance from just about everything! Gorgeous views of the basilica and bell tower from the terrace! Staff was remarkable (esp the sweet and extremely personable bar tender upstairs!). The rooms were a perfect size...

We had the Panorama Suite. Our room lacked nothing. It was clean, comfortable, warm, welcoming, spacious, well appointed, and simply beautiful. The hotel has excellent wi-fi and adequate outlets for charging all the tech we carry. It is a tower. There are lots of steps even though there are elevators as well. The views of the Ponte Vecchio, the Arno...

This hotel has a unique character and is a delight. It mixes old world charm with modern facilities. The rooms are a good example in that they are very comfortably furnished with older pieces mixed with the modern conveniences we expect. Comfortable beds and spacious shower room add to the feeling of understated luxury.. The breakfast is wide ranging, from...

This amazing historic property is situated on the top three floors of a 13th century medieval tower, bordered by the Arno river and shares the famous street, Via dei Tornabuoni with several elite fashion names, i.e. Gucci, Prada, Pucci and Bulgaries. The rooms are beyond comfortable and spacious for European standards (in my American point of view) and everything is...

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. We loved the nice rooms and had a great view of the river! Our favorite part of this hotel was the rooftop bar. Each evening, we enjoyed heading up their for an appetizer and glass of wine. There are 2 sides to the rooftop. On one side, you can face the river...

Absolutely stunning hotel, from the moment you walk through the door you are greeted with luxury. The room was spacious and had everything you could have asked for. We had the hammam room with its own spa, this is a must for couples. The view couldn't of been better and the noise was minimal even with it wide open. Very...

This charming historic property offers a wonderful location on the Arno, corner with one of Florence's best shopping streets. A terrific rooftop bar offers views over the city that are tough to beat. The rooms are well-appointed, ample, light and very comfortable. The staff is exceedingly helpful and welcoming. It feels more like a home than a hotel at a...

Every visitor coming to Florence for the first time will immediately identify with Uffizi. As in past times, passing through Via dei Calzaiuoli, you can reach the city center, the Florence that everybody dreams of. In just a few steps, visitors can experience the rare beauty of the capital of the Renaissance. walking delighted across Palazzo Vecchio and overlooking Piazza della Signoria, up to the Loggia of the Uffizi where it is possible to fully taste the talent of the best artists who animated Florence over the centuries. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We personally enjoy welcoming our guests, we wish to reinvent the concept of hospitality, and we have the inspiration to provide the warmth of home in every detail. This is how the Antica Torre di Via Tornabuoni 1, Florence came to be: a tower-house built in the mid-12th century by the Guelph family of Ruggerini. At the beginning of the 20th century, this palace became "Pensione Piccioli," and quickly turned into a privileged residence for aristocrats and English writers. Closed after the Great War, Pensione Piccioli reopened in 2001, as a Period Residence called "Antica Torre di Via Tornabuoni 1." Thanks to attentive restoration to preserve all its original charm, the evocative ambiance of the Palace on Via Tornabuoni has regained life and warmth. This magnificent complex is considered one of the typical "tower-houses" of Mediaeval Florence, and, to this day, it still preserves all its characteristic architectural elements: it is an admirable example of the human ability to convert buildings built for war into oases of peace, culture and hospitality. In this ancient tower, we have created a world of harmony, privacy, and attentiveness to our guests' needs. Luxury, peace, and beauty are all in traditional Italian style, and give the concept of comfort new aesthetics. Almost all rooms enjoy an enchanting view of the city or the Arno River, and all are furnished with the highest in comfort: satellite plasma TVs, DVD players, wireless internet connection, direct line telephone, minibar, electronic safe, air conditioning and heating, private marble bath with tub and/or shower, hair dryer, slippers and shoehorns. Some of the Rooms and Suites are decorated with a Renaissance flair: with frescoes, drapes in coloured precious fabrics, bathrooms in red Alcantara or Gold Calacatta marble, and romantic four poster beds. ... more   less
