My wife and I stayed here. It was a good deal for the price and very central to everything. The owner was very kind and willing to help with suggestions. She responded to all my inquires quickly. I will say - the town itself is noisy - and there is a bit of a climb to the apartment. I would encourage you to call before you go and make sure you arrange a time to meet at the door. This was our first stop and so we were a little uncertain about where we would meet the owner. I went through booking.com and they helped us work it all out. Ask for a description of the front of the apartments - maybe a picture - it will help you find it. Breakfast is a little scant to my expectations - (croissant and coffee). All that to say - from our perspective the beds were good, the centrality was brilliant and the hospitality welcoming.

For hostel prices (under £25 per person/night) Condotta house was a pleasant surprise with B&B-like service, wonderful cleanliness and furnishings, and a fabulous location. We could walk to every attraction we wanted to go to (Uffizi, Duomo, Bargello, Palazzo and Ponte Vecchio, Baboli Gardens, Palazzo Medici Riccardi and of course the train station) within minutes. The room was airy, high up and had a fridge. The option of 'shared bathroom' was more than reasonable, with only 3 rooms sharing, and it was always clean. This is a perfect cornerstone for anyone wanting a tourist break in this most beautiful of cities, on a budget but still wanting a little luxury!

My friends and I booked into a different Hostel who cancelled on us at the last minute and transferred our booking to Condotta House. Despite this the location of the guest house is superb, ten steps will take you to the main square with the Uffizi gallery and the Duomo and all other amenities are on the doorstep. Maddalena has decorated the guesthouse very well and takes great pride in her business and the cleanliness of the place. The rooms were also made up everyday and there are toiletries and towels provided. You also have the option of paying a small supplement to have breakfast provided in your room the night before for the morning (there is a fridge in the room). Thanks for a lovely stay, would go back again!

We booked to stay at Condotta House in Florence, Italy on 20/05/2015 checking in on 16/07/2015 until 18/07/2015

When we got there after a difficult commute from Pisa we arrived at Condotta House at about 11:00am to be told that there was no space for us and that they were not told of any such reservation (despite me seeing it on their system) I proceeded to show the B&B worker our booking reservation to which I was told there was nothing they could do.

As my pregnant partner sat on the cold steps outside the Condotta House for approximately 1.5 hours whilst the B&B worker tried to understand what was going wrong - and also myself trying to understand his broken English – we were essentially being kicked onto the street...! Eventually after a very long and stressful period of time, I demanded that I use the B&Bs computer and eventually found a local, mediocre – and more expensive – hotel to stay in

We tried to contact them through as many methods as possible (through intermediates) when we got home and they ignored us.

Just be very careful, don't get into the same predicament that we did... very sad indeed

I made a reservation to stay at Condotta House for my recent trip to Florence. I emailed a confirmation of my booking and ETA in advance to make sure it was all ok.

Upon arrival, there was no one there. We lugged our luggage up 3 flights of steps. All doors from the main street all the way up to bedrooms were unlocked (security?!) so we walked up and waited in the hallway, where there were no notes for us, keys or information. The rooms were dark, only 1 light in each one, no air-conditioning and windows couldn't open. It was dusty, smelt bad and was full of old dated decorations and warning signs for bad behaviour. The bathroom was tiny, dirty and dark.

45 minutes later a lady walks in shouting and swearing at us and making us feel like we had broken into her house or something. I explained I had a reservation and had confirmed it with her only a few weeks before. She said "it is so rude of you to come here I cannot believe this" and so on, was very aggressive.

She took my reservation away and made a call to someone. Then comes back and says I have not seen this but offers a room in her friends flat downstairs, but in a double room not twin, no air con, no breakfast.

After the way my friend and I were treated we decided to get out of there and leave immediately.

This was the worst experience I have had in Italy by far and there is no way I would go back let alone recommend it.

A B&B is about hospitality with a personal touch, and friendly local help.

Candotta House is not a B&B. No heart, no hospitality, very little local help. We felt too much as though we were being processed.

No information at all - having rung a day in advance to announce our arrival, we were surprised to not be greeted by the owner but instead to be buzzed in only to be met by a confused and poorly informed helper/cleaner. He had to ring the owner, inform himself, and after about 20 min we were brought to a unfinished room which did not fit the description. Let's just say the pictures on TripAdvisor paint a prettier picture than reality. After checking our reservation and confronting the help we were given another room (similarly morbid).

We did not receive a welcome, any form of introduction or information about what our stay included or did not include. We had to pick out our registration confirmation in order to ask specifically and individually about all of the points in the offer. Some miraculously not included such the "coffee/tea corner". Purchasable beverages as indicated on our room fridge were nowhere to be found and soon after we arrived, the help was gone and no one was there to ask.

Bad service - while the help was doing his best to help he was completely out of his depth. A per chance meeting with the owner who was in the staff room when I ran back upstairs can only be described as cold, with zero interest or friendliness towards her guests.

1. Yes, you can sleep there. 2. Yes, the location is good. Nonetheless it was a very dissatisfying experience accompanied with the strange feeling of being caught in a typical tourist scam. Not fun. Not a B&B. Not worth it at all.

And we can confirm the strange smell mentioned in other ratings - cleaning chemicals meet old dampness.

Unfortunately there were no opportunities to voice our concerns with the owner as she was either not there or just on the way out. While the owner will probably respond in a tasteless manner below, we would strongly advise you to find a better value for money B&B in Firenze.

I went there , with arrival 11.15pm. I spent 1/2 hour to find the place because there are 2 places with nbr 3 in this street ! and then I was charged 10 € more because I arrived late ! The place is in the center of the city. This the only positive point ! The 4 rooms are at the 3rd floor without lift and it is hard to get there with suitcases due to narrow passage. The street is VERY NOISY until 4 am. IMPOSSIBLE TO SLEEP. The door of the room is with a window and an antic key, difficult to open. You have to share the bathroom with other guests. If you are cold, do not expect to find an extra blanket in the room. Do not expect to find 2 towels. They say breakfast is offered : it is true, BUT not in the room but in a coffee shop at the square and you can just get a coffe and a cake or croissant. If you want a parking at 150m , it will cost you 30€ per day!
Check out is too early and you cannot leave a suitcase in the afternoon. There is nobody there, except a poor and nice student cleaning the place in the morning.
Do not expect to pay with a credit card : the owner will accept ONLY cash ! The owner is a very unpleasant lady who does not care about the guests but only about her money. NOT A PLACE TO RECOMMEND AT ALL !!!!!!

Hello Mister Paris! You’ve got in Florence a prize, but please do not come to take it. It is for the worst guest of 2014!! Yes, 2014!, because I don’t think that can come someone who is worst than you. You were such a pain in the a…All people in our beautiful city are so happy that you are not here anymore! The owners from the bar, the owners from the garage and especcialy me here and other guest staying in the same term here, because you were shouting on the phone every morning at 7.30, so they already hated you because of this, and it wasn’t the noise outside, it was the noise inside which you provocate. Because you are such a big big layer. Fortunatelly I have all good comments and no one else think like you! If your stay was so bad, why you booked the second night here when you were saying, that you found much better b&b??? Because it was too expensive, because it was outside the storical center?? Yes of course!!! In the bar you and your wife (which we can not forget as well) had 5 croissants and two cappuccinos for FREE! I told you that is not a buffet that you can take everything what you want, but you were so cheeky that you did! In the garage at 1.00am you did a show because you didn’t want to leave the key from your car there. People who work there they wanted to throw you out. Next you were so grateful, like you said that me and my husband were so nice and so kind to even show you the road at 1am to the garage. Why you not say that you didn’t want to give me the documents to register you, even the day after, you gave it to me when I told you that I have to call the police. You wrote that you arrive at 23.15, and you spent half an hour to look for the place. First thing, you should read before you booked that the reception is closed at 20.00, you arrived at 24.00 so you were lucky that we are so nice people and we went to open you the door. Second, you book a shared bathroom (which is always clean, no one was complain about this point) so you should stay quiet because it was your fault that you made the mistake. Third I never charge you the 10€ (which supposed to be 20€) for late arrival. I gave you even a discount for the second night. Fourth - On the website is written that is a third floor without a lift, but of course we know that you can’t read. Fifth, you had two extra blanket in the wardrobe and you never used them. Sixth, yes, do not expect two towels, because every room has 4 of them, not 2! Seventh, the check out is at 10.30 like in 99% of hotels! And you did at 11.30. I never write on any website or booking site that we have a luggage storage. You could leave your stuff in the car which was only 100m from our b&b! And is not true that we accept only cash, you should tell that you gave us invalid card! Such a big layer you are… Thank you for your comment and I hope we don’t see you anymore..In Italian we say- “un cliente come te meglio perdere che trovare”

We travelled to Florence at the end of May. Overall, we loved Florence and would come back, it’s a beautiful city with so much to see and do. The one hiccup we had in our trip to Florence was staying at this hostel and dealing with the owner of this hostel.
Originally, we booked to stay at Florence Youth Hostel (original hostel), but due to renovations they transferred us to this hostel. Good thing that we had emailed them prior to our trip, otherwise we highly doubt that they would have contacted us to even notify us of this change. Now, our original hostel had a policy where we can check in by 10pm, and given that we were only scheduled to arrive in Florence at 9:30pm, we had to ensure that the new hostel would still be open. To our disappointment, they were not open past 7, and said that they will charge us 20 euro for late check-in. The reason why we booked the original hostel was due to their late check-in policy, so why would we have to pay extra to check-in when it’s not our fault that this hostel was renovating? But fine, we decided to go ahead anyways given that it’s hard to find a new hostel last minute. We arrive at 9:30 pm and there is no one at the door to greet us. So why exactly are we paying this 20 euro fee? To stand in front of a locked door and hope that someone shows up eventually? Finally the person arrived, and let us into our room. After 30 min of wasting our time trying to find the keys to the office, trying to call the owner to find the wifi password, and trying to find out the information of how much we need to pay, we finally settle in. Again, we paid 20 euro to wait for an incompetent person who doesn’t know anything about the hostel to check us in, why?
The next morning we finally meet the owner, and she says we have to pay the whole fee in cash up front. In all our time of staying in many hostels across Europe, we were never asked to pay in cash. Her argument is that this is the policy of our original hostel, and we should have known this. Now she is a hypocrite because she doesn’t follow the original hostel’s policy on check in and scams us with her 20 euro check in, but she does follow the original hostel’s policy of payment? Woman, make up your mind. Then, she has the guts to tell us that she is being nice by charging the original policy rate because her hostel is more expensive. EXCUSE ME??? Our original hostel transferred us here. You agreed to take visitors from the original hostel to your own hostel, your agreement with the original hostel owner is not OUR problem. You are not doing us any favour. She continued with her attitude by saying that we can go look for another hostel. Again, how is it our problem that she agreed to help out the other owner by taking their guests? She also charged us higher city tax than the original hostel, again, choosing her own policy over the original hostel to benefit her financially and being inconsistent with the policies that she was applying. By the end, to avoid wasting any more time arguing with her so we can go and see the city, we decided to pay her the full amount. The hostel is nice, and it’s in a fantastic location, but if you’re being transferred here from Florence Youth Hostel, BE WARE, you WILL get scammed!

Unfortunately, the poor review only comes from the fact that I barely could sleep while I was here. EVERY NIGHT it was loud on the street until around 3-3:30am. I was there Wednesday and left Sunday. Sure, I could have used ear plugs, but I had to set my alarm for the morning and I know that I would have not been able to wake up if I had done so. So... since the walls were thin, the street was loud and I couldn't get to sleep until past 3AM.. yeah that really sucks for a hotel.

OTHER THAN THAT, The bed was big. There was a fridge in the room. The decor was very nice. The bathroom was across the hall. The shower was VERY sensitive, so I had trouble getting the perfect temperature. It was usually either too hot or cold, but the pressure was good. I never took advantage of the breakfast part so I have no input on that.

I had lived in Florence years ago, so I didn't need any information or help with tours, just a room and a bathroom. I arrived a half hour after checkin time was over, I had emailed her in advance I would be later. Nothing I could do about it. When I showed up she kinda tried to make me feel guilty about coming past checkin time. Said she had to miss her bus, she was about to leave, she only stayed later because I was staying more than three days (seriously?). I just don't find that professional... but Italy is more laid back so maybe this is just acceptable behavior here.

If this place was quieter and I had been able to actually sleep, I probably would have given it 4 stars, but if you cant sleep... it isn't much of a hotel, is it?
