Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We recently spent 3 nights at the Old Bridge. Our rooms were across the road from the main building. The room was spacious although the bathroom was on the small side. The hotel position was amazing and within walking distance to the main sights of Florence. The room was cleaned daily and fresh towels provided. There were only 2 things that would have this a 5 star review. One is to provide tea & coffee making facilities and second would be less of o hike up so many flights of stairs to breakfast. There was a lift but it only carried 2 people and was always busy. Definitely a great location & good value for money.

Hotel was in a great location, easy to reach all the sites by foot. As many reviewers have stated previously it’s part of another hotel and you have to check in across the road… this is ok.. but you have no phone within the room to access amenities within the main hotel - such as an iron. Additionally, the room (superior with hydro bath) was basic with no tea / coffee or even water and not even a proper glass which I’d expect in any hotel. The bathroom was small, and a little worn in places. If you stay here - after paying for the most expensive room I’d recommend booking the hotel for the location but not for any frills. We had a balcony which overlooked the rest of the block so not worth the money. Overall 3 stars is representative of the hotel.

Dear Mrs. C., Thanks for your review, we are glad that you loved our location, thanks as well for tips about tea and coffee amenities that we'll supply to the B&B property. The B&B has his reception desk located at the Hotel La Scaletta since they are both manage by the same company but that's a plus since even if you booked and stayed in a B&B you have a 24h reception desk open, there's no telephone in the room as in most of B&B but you can easily contact us by whatsapp, the balcony faces the courtyard we understand that it's not the best view but it's a private outside space. Hope to welcome you again in the future in the B&B or in the Hotel. All the Best!

Great hotel and excellent location. Very friendly and helpful staff and the view from the patio restaurant was amazing, unfortunately they were booked when we were there but we saw the chef making handmade tortellini and I’m still thinking about them. We’ll definitely go back!

We pay for other rooms and they give us other rooms. We are very angry about that. We talk with manager and they loud us and nothing do about that. We never stay again in this hotel and we don't recommend to anyone. We lose our money to this hotel...

Dear Mr. G., Thanks for your review, even bad reviews help us to improve our service when they are constructive and tell the thruth, you booked 2 comfort rooms, we have only 2 comfort rooms in our B&B (n. 203 and n. 304) and these are exactly the rooms you got. The manager was not in Florence during your stay, you spoke with the reception staff that just confirmed you that the room you got are the room booked. We are sorry that your expectation have been not respected. Best regards.

The good: Its location is really good, right between Palazzo Pitti and the Vecchio bridge, so basically within a 20 minute walking distance of most sights in the city. The staff is also very nice here. The bad: First, the hotel is split between two buildings on opposite sides of the street. One building has the reception (on the top floor, tiny elevator), the other building is filled with apartments and a few floors and hallways for hotel guests (also tiny elevator). Even though the rooms have undergone some sort of basic renovation, many things have not been fixed. The doors are very bad sealed, so you can hear the sound of people going up and down the stairs, the constant noise of the elevator moving and even the regular conversations of the neighbours next door. The windows are equally bad sealed, not only making temperature regulation part of your trouble, but also letting in a foul sewage stench from the courtyard. Also the lighting is pretty dim, making it hard to see the inside of the closet when you get dressed. Also the closet door is very difficult to slide. The phone to the reception is located outside of the room in the hallway, and it will ring occasionally (we heard it at least twice a day). Last but not least, there was renovations being made in the building, which was incredibly loud and very disturbing when travelling with small children. We would kindly implore the hotel to ALWAYS warn their guest of any irregularities like this, that might affect the stay at the hotel. Then we could have chosen another hotel to begin with. A last thought, we could not find a smoke detector in our room or in the hallway nor a fire escape plan in our room. Only a fire extinguisher in the hallway. This is very unsettling and should be fixed by the hotel immediately.

Dear Mr. J., Thanks for your review and we are sorry about your experience in our B&B, all the rooms have been renewed in 2015 and from that day we had no problems with noise from outside or neighbours but we'll check and see if something new has to be done. About the location of reception we inform our guest about it, we are sorry about the works that have been done in a private apartment located 3 floors above our B&B. Our excuses again. Best regards.

Pre-Xmas tour of Italy and we stayed at 4* accommodation across the board. The Old Bridge was by far the cheapest (no doubt due to its B&B status) and yet far the best, the location is perfect for the Ponte Vecchio unsurprisingly and the rooms were new and fresh. The rooms are detached from the reception, restaurant and roof terrace as they’re just over the road, just a couple of meters away. Great value for money, enjoy!

The room was lovely, new, clean, and spacious enough. You have to check-in in a nearby hotel, but that’s convenient because you also got 24h desk service. They also serve breakfast in the hotel nearby, at the 3rd floor, so I would not recommend it, unless you really don’t like the usual sweet breakfast served at the many Italian cafes nearby. The biggest problem is actually the building itself. It is old, and apparently very badly constructed. I wouldn’t say the neighbors were noisy, but I would wake up every time they slid a chair on the floor or flush the toilet. You can’t really complain with them about that. I’m sorry to say this, because everything else was nice, but I didn’t get a single good night of sleep on my time there. So minus one start for this. The price was also high considering the type of accommodation. Minus one star.

We booked the deluxe spa room but when we arrived there had been a mix up with the booking and we were stuck with a standard room. To get to reception you have to go up 3 floors in a tiny lift and your luggage can't fit in the lift. Then our room was across the road in another building. The building foyer smelt like beer and something stale. The room was dingy and not very pleasant. The only phone is in the foyer instead of in the room. The bathroom is way too small, could hardly fit in the shower and could hardly stand to dry yourself. We were booked for two nights but checked out after the first night and stayed somewhere else the second night. Only good things was there was an outdoor terrace option at breakfast and the location is good. Other than that - not great.

Our stay was marred by noisy neighbors. The apartment below and the one above were very loud. Our room faced the back alley and the apartments behind were very noisy. Alley sounds reverberated late into the night. Also advertised as a B& B but breakfast was not included.

Dear Mrs. B., Thanks for your review, we are sorry for the noisy neighbors, there's a telephone in the hall to contact the reception desk (open 24h) so one person can come to check the situation and knock on their door to ask them to stop or call directly the police, unfortunately known about your problem from a bad review do not change the opinion about your stay. We are a B&B, breakfast is not included in the room rate but there the possibility to add it, that's to let our guest free to decide day by day to have breakfast in Hotel or outside, anyway we respect your opinion. Hope to welcome you back in the future. Best regards.
