A place so full of culture and historical architecture. This is a kind of destination most suitable for a romantic trip. Whether you are talking boat cruise around the Island City or just enjoying a Gondola ride through in between the buildings and under the small bridges that connects this beautiful city made out of many many islands... This is... More

When you walk into the building you feel like walking away but once you get to the hotel (in a tiny little elevator) is ok. Very nice view, lovely breakfast and the room is clean but very basic. As a budget hotel more than delivers. If you are looking for luxury or modern decor go somewhere else

We did not want to spend a lot of money, but wanted to be in a good location. The hotel served both purposes. The rooms were small, but that is expected in Italy. The staff was wonderful - very nice and helpful. The breakfast was good - not overly large, but enough. We were just a few minutes to the... More

Location is perfect, it's near San Marco Square - Gallerie dell Academia, 7 min to Dome. The breakfast is perfect, you really don't have to bother because it's very consistent and delicious. The room was ok, very big with confortable beds. The traffic noise in the morning is a little bit disturbing but I can't complain when the place it's... More

Very nice, clean, tidy place with lovely home atmosphere and location! Just great, max 10min walk from bus and train station, 3 min to basilica, less than 10 to the bridge. In the morning good coffee and just enough breakfast everything for good price I would defenetely stay there again.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.

“The top floor is a hike up, so don't forget anything once you come down. If you have a choice, choose a lower floor. No lifts. The staff did take our suitcases upstairs for us which really helped.”
