My husband and I traveled by train from Venice to Florence to spent some nights before heading to Rome. This B&B is a great and quiet place and of course it's a perfect choice if you're looking to save money. It's located 10 minutes walk to Santa Maria Novella Train Station. Comfortable bed, with A/C, nice bathroom and incredible italian...

This B&B was tucked away about 20 mins (walk) from the main city area but close to the train station. Room was well furnished and clean. Great breakfast spread provided. Owner was friendly and helpful even though he spoke little English. Only 4 stars though cause the heating in our room wasn't working well and there were issues with our...

We traveled by train to several major cities on this trip so we wanted nice accommodations within walking distance from the station in a safe neighbourhood. Il Marzocco was the perfect place for us. Comfortable and charming with A/C ( a must for us!), a roomy bathroom with large shower, a nice view overlooking a garden, and a delicious breakfast...

Spent 2 nights in this lovely B and B with some friends. We got 3 of the B and B's 7 rooms. The room was quite small for two people, however the bathroom was clean with hot shower and full amenities. Breakfast was good, Emo makes the best cappucino and hot Chocolate in all of Italy :) Our hosts Massimo...

Spacious room and bathroom. There was a heater in the bathroom which was good especially when you just stepped out of the shower. The room was quite beautiful with ceiling frescoes and wooden furniture providing an old world Italian feel. The B&B is located within 5 mins' walk from the Firenze Santa Maria Novella station but we thought it was...

What a gem we enjoyed during our recent stay in Florence. We wanted a place close to the train station since this was our mode of travel. We were welcomed with open arms into the lovely and clean B&B. There are small and large rooms. We opted for the small which suited us just fine since we only slept there....

We loved this beautiful B&B. The outside of the building is plain and hidden away south of the train station. It was safe to walk there at the various hours we went. It is located on the second floor of the building, and there is a lift. The rooms were lovely!! The breakfast was good. The only complaint was that...

We were only there one night. The room was small. But,that's to be expected in an older central city. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. As this is a fairly busy street, one could expect noise from traffic. However, the windows sealed quite well and blocked the street sounds completely. It is an older property that is very nice and...

We were delayed coming to florence on our trip. I would have to say this is one of the best places I stayed while in Italy. These 2 brothers were the kindest people. the place is spotless and they are the most helpful. if you are looking for a place to stay, right in the middle of it, this is...

This is one of the most beautifully kept and welcoming B&Bs I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. We were welcomed by one of the two delightful owners early evening who, albeit with limited English, gave us a very comprehensive and understandable overview of what to do and see in the city, including recommending the absolute must do...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.

“there is no swimming pool in B&B, apologize for typo. All rooms are located on the second floor. none of them has a view, but all of them are overlooking the busy street with a heavy traffic. If you decide to book small double room please keep it in mind that it is indeed very small for two people.”

“We only saw our room - but our friends said their room was similar in style/comfort. The double windows certainly removed the noise of the hustle and bustle from the street. :-)”
