This b&b is in a very old building near downtown. The room was very big! The bed was too soft, not very comfortable. Breakfast was good. The shower was the best, it was interesting to see such a modern shower in a 700yo building. What caught my attention the most was the elevator. I've never seen such a bizarre elevator....

This was our third time for multi night stays at the Dante e Beatrice. This B&B is clean and comfortable with large bedrooms. The breakfast has a very large assortment of pastries, cold meats and cheeses, boiled eggs, bread and buns etc. No one leaves hungry. The best part of Dante e Beatrice is Mina. This wonderful lady can't do...

Would use again unless a better offer pops somewhere. We had a two-room, double bed apartment by the kitchen Good: Friendly personnel, but they sadly are present during morning and daytime only. We were allowed to use kitchen fridge to store temperature-sensitive medicine. As promised: beds (big), breakfast (average - nothing fancy, cold snacks). Located not far from center Minor...

We moved to the Dante and Beatrice from a very unfortunate hotel nearby...Renata looked after us really well, the room was lovely - huge with high ceilings and lovely decor. Everything was spotless and there was tea and coffee making facilities. The bed was enormous and my son had a comfortable carved wooden day bed. Breakfast was excellent and its...

Staff were friendly. The hotel is 20 minutes walk to Florence's main train station. It is not located in the heart of action but I liked that. It is 5 minutes walk to San Marco square, a couple of minutes more to Accademia and 10 minutes to the Duomo. There are plenty of supermarkets and restaurants in close by. The...

I had a very god experience at Dante e Beatrice's. First: remember, it's a B&B. And I spent 2 nights. Having that said, the place is in a good location, you can walk from/to anywhere (Duomo, accademia, mercatto, train station, ponte vecchio, pza michelangiolo, even Fiorentina's stadium if you are in the mood of a longer walk). The building is...

The room is bigger than usual of Italy, which means you have space to put your stuff and move around easily. The person who runs the place (Ms Mina) is nice and helpful. The internet works really well. The rooms are on the second floor and there is no lift. Might be a bit difficult to find, but if you...

Most importantly, we received a wonderful welcome as soon as we arrived: A map, & personal suggestions on what to see; thorough, individualized training on the use of the excellent security system. We were extremely delighted with the superb breakfast, with a huge selection of delectable choices (eggs, meat, yogurt, bread, juice, vegetables, pie) & great service once again. The...

PROs: - the location is very quiet and peaceful, 15 minutes away by foot from the Dom - the rooms are average, and quite clean - still, the shower is very small and surrounded with some kind of curtain (depends from one room to another) - free WiFi CONs: - at this hotel I've experienced the worst breakfast in my...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.

“Rooms have names, not numbers. There is an elevator, but it is small. Pack light!!! You will never regret that decision.”

“Do not choose any of the rooms untill they are renovated & managed properly. Most of the visitors had the same thoughts. Secondly, let me tell you this property is on the second floor of a buildind. Each floor had only one balcony. So do not expect to get a room with balcony. If you insist to go there, choose the season when there is no mosquitos !!!”

“As mentioned by other reviewers, ask for a room away from the breakfast room (as we did) as it gets really noisy in the morning. There is actually a room that opens directly into the breakfast room, so watch out for that and be specific.”
