Detailed Reviews
Nice old hotel, staff very nice and helpful. We stayed here for 2 days before taking the ferry and used the hotel as a starting point for trips into toscana. Rooms are good. AC is working, road is slightly loud but manageable with windows closed. Bus stop nearby is very convenient to get to city center. We would stay here again for nights before ferry and similar. Btw there was only a reduced breakfast due to Covid - but we did not try it.

The structure is absolutely lovely, it seems to take a trip back in time. Internal parking on request for a very convenient fee. Friendly and welcoming staff. Room in the style of the structure, well organized and functional. Clean. Rich breakfast, varied, well assorted and note of merit for the amount of gluten-free alternatives present. Great value for money, close to the sea, 10 minutes drive from downtown

My husband and I stayed for a romantic weekend at this hotel. We had a good time, normal and continental breakfast (you pay apart from breakfast and the latter thing, that is, pay even a simple bottle of water taken from the room's mini bar and this did not seem very elegant). Without infamy and without praise.

Our check in was at 3pm. We arrived to the hotel at 3:40, with no one at the reception desk. We waited another 15 minutes before someone got there to check us in, and give us the key to our room. That's fine. I know it's Italy, things move slow. Including the drivers on the highways, so keep that in mind if driving through Tuscany.
We got to our room, the handle fell off when we were trying to get into our room. I went downstairs, to tell the front desk, perhaps to get another room, and they told me to open the door with the key, and not use the handle. Ok, fine. ... Though I wondered about the security of our room when we left for the day.
The bed was the worst bed I've slept on, the pillows were not any better, more like a pice of foam in a pillow case. The mattress was wrapped in a plastic cover, so it was impossible to get comfortable and not sweat the entire night.
I get it, it's a fancy looking Italian hotel from the outside so you might be tempted, also the second most expensive in Livorno. The location isn't close to any beach you want to lay on, and there's a Naval base across the street blocking your access to the ocean.
Our room was not worth the €143 a night. If you're booking this through Booking.com, the breakfast is not included like they say it is. The front desk staff will tell you it's not included, and then charge you €10 for a single cappuccino and pastry for breakfast.

+1
Passable. The environment is welcoming as the Liberty style of the Villa is very nice.
Very courteous staff. The beds are comfortable, the rooms quite clean; the property would need a renovated one. I had a room on the ground floor overlooking the parking lot, it was not the best. The rooms have the essentials. Parking is really very tight -better park outside-.
I did not have breakfast.

I stayed in this hotel for one day and I had a good time. It is located on the seafront in Livorno so a lot of traffic but I still slept very well. Excellent well stocked breakfast. There is always parking in front in the evening. If I can give some advice, the areas need a bit of renovation, specifically the bathrooms

It is not the best hotel where you can go but at least a good alternative if you don't want to spend double going to the grand palazzo
I did all hotels there and I was very satisfied with this place
Hotel was just refurbished , room very clean , good family staff and fair price
Good Tips indeed !

On June 23, 2019, my wife and I arrived at 2pm by auto at Hotel Gennarino with reservations made through Travelocity. We were shown to our room which was nice but extremely hot and was told that the air conditioning would take a little while to cool it down. At that time Italy was going through a heat streak and the temperatures were over 100F. Their AC was broken because it never did cool the room down. When we complained to the desk a lady offered to show us another room where the AC had recently been on. We could tell no difference between the temperatures of the rooms. Obviously, the building’s AC was not working properly. We told her we could not possibly stay there in that kind of heat and we would have to find other accommodations with air conditioning elsewhere.
As we departed she told us she was sorry for our inconvenience but not to worry because she would cancel our reservation at the Hotel Gennarino and not charge our credit card and/or refund our money back on to our credit card if it had already been charged.
Our latest credit card statement confirms what she said was untrue because we were charged on June 24, 2019, for a room we never stayed in. To avoid getting my credit card company involved on July 29th I emailed the hotel directly and explained what happened and asked that they refund the amount they charged back to my card. No response. Now, the credit card company has become involved. Why make me go through this hassle when we never stayed there? It is not like they are a huge hotel only twenty-some rooms. Maybe they need the money… Judging from some of the reviews the AC has been broken for quite some time.
