This is an absolutely beautiful boutique hotel run by a wonderful family. The rooms are large, well-appointed and extremely comfortable. The breakfast is scrumptious, with lots of fresh fruit, pastries, meats and cheeses, as well as eggs and beverages made to order. The location is excellent, very close to restaurants within the walls of Lucca. But the thing that stands out the most when you stay at Villa La Preziosa is that you feel so well cared for by this lovely, warm-hearted family. While we were there my adult son was celebrating a birthday. At breakfast that day, and as a complete surprise to us, the entire family and staff came out with a cake, singing happy birthday. Before I write me review, I must admit to something... I've considered not writing this review. After all, the more great reviews this place gets, the more people will book it, and the harder it will become to come here again... On the other hand, keeping this (hidden) gem from others or not giving the credit it is due would be a true crime. I'm writing this review during our last day at the villa. To be fair, there isn't really anything bad I can say -- and I've thought long and hard. So, where to start with the good stuff? There is so much? The villa and its surroundings is astonishing. The owners did a terrific job renewing the different buildings and that is reflected in the quality, look, and feel of the villa, the garden, the rooms, etc. Everything breathes class, is well-maintained, and just looks generally gorgeous. We've been enamored by the level of detail of the finishing inside the rooms, and throughout the property. Breakfast is typically Italian, but SUPER fresh and really tasty. Eggs are made to order, which is great: you can mix things up as you want, and they're really delicious. There is sufficient to choose from, both in beverages and food: there's bread, cheese, meat, sweets, granola, muesli, cornflakes, yoghurt, etc. Basically, everything you'd want for breakfast. Lots of it is sourced locally, which is also a nice touch in my opinion. There's plenty of room at the villa where you can relax: outside at the pool or - for example during the evenings - in the lounge area. They offer drinks and some small snacks at reasonable prices. They also offer pizza for dinner (coming from a restaurant nearby). We didn't try them ourselves, but the food in the area is great, so I would be surprised this would be any different. They looked good and other guests were happy :-) The town of Lucca is merely a 10-minute drive away by car: this means you can enjoy the quietness when chilling at the villa and easily go to Lucca for a meal, some sightseeing, etc. During our visit we also went to Pisa (20-minute drive) and Florence (45-minute) drive; both can thus easily be visited while staying at the villa. Finally, the staff and the owners (and their family) are just amazing and super friendly. We've had the opportunity to chat a little on several occasions and gotten to know more about the villa, the area, what to do, etc. They really want you to enjoy your stay and will do everything they can to make it enjoyable! I would not hesitate to come back. In fact, I'm already looking to book my next stay. If you haven't decided yet: run, book. Just do it. You won't be disappointed!…

We describe our stay at Villa La Preziosa as 'a dream'. Calm, intimate, spotlessly clean and run by the perfect hosts who were utterly charming. Nothing we asked was too much. The breakfast was beautiful. Huge tomatoes, cheese, fruit and pastries, eggs... We loved that we were able to order a pizza through the hotel when we arrived, so that we could enjoy a stress-free evening with a glass of (very good wine), whilst playing cards in our lovely surroundings.

We had idea what to expect when we book a stay here. As son as we drove through the gates, we knew we were in for a special experience. The property is immaculate and when you walk through the front door it is more beautiful inside. Barbara, Gunther and even their children help run the Villa. The breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of choices and some items made to order. There was a group of ten of us and one each room was unique and decorated with great care. Everything was spotless and clean. We certainly plan of returning at some point to share the experience with other family or friends.

AMAZING. Everything at Villa La Preziosa was fantastic. Barbara , Gunther and family were so welcoming, friendly and helpful. They were happy to book restaurants, gave suggestions of where to visit and were very knowledgeable. Villa La Preziosa is such a beautiful special place, the decor, the gardens, everything was superb. The bedrooms are all decorated individually and they really are stunning. The whole villa was beautiful, they keep it to such a high standard and it is extremely clean and well looked after We were there for 4 days and could have stayed longer. Being in Lucca is very central for visiting other towns in Tuscany. Thank you for such a wonderful stay. We will be back for sure.

Villa La Preziosa is a gorgeous bed and breakfast hotel--built in the 1700-1800's but beautifully renovated in the last few years. The grounds are exquisite, the rooms large and appointed with style and class. Everything touch was well thought out and detailed. But the best part was our hosts: Barbara, Gunther and Julian. They welcomed us and made us feel right at home. So hospitable and gracious and helpful in every way. If I get back to Lucca--and I will--I already know where I will be staying.

Our stay at the villa was simply wonderful!! Barbara and Gunther are excellent at what they do and they have created a gorgeous property. The rooms are beautiful. We stayed for 5 nights and used this as our home base to explore Lucca and other Tuscan areas. The location was absolutely perfect, it allowed us to pop into Lucca every night for dinner but still enjoy the quiet of being outside the city center (and the gorgeous gardens at the villa!). I would be remiss if I didn’t encourage everyone to try the breakfast scrambled eggs with everything in the morning - so delicious and now I need to figure out how to recreate at home! Note: I would highly recommend having a car when staying here! It’s about 8 minutes driving outside of Lucca.
