The Bed and Breakfast La Romea is a typical exemple of historic residence, located on the first floor of a late XIVth century palace in Via Sant'Andrea, a short walk fron the Guinigi Tower. Guests will be welcome in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere at the hart of the medieval town. The spacious living room gives room for your private meetings and a wonderful breakfast. We can organize Baby sitting as well as Dog sitting, please ask the reception. We can organize for transportation to and from the two major airports of Pisa and Firenze.

We stayed here for two nights last August and would definitely stay here again when visiting Lucca. The hosts are very nice, breakfast was perfectly taken care of and the rooms are comfortable, big and nicely decorated. Bathroom was also very comfortable. The hosts also gave us some very nice recommendations for acitivies and lunch/dinner. Also very good price/quality ratio. Would 100% recommend this place!

We loved La Romea for its location inside the old walls of Lucca and being on the second floor of a very old and beautiful palazzo. But Gaia takes the cake, she is the most wonderful hostess we have ever encountered, and we travel a lot. Will definitely be back and if you get a chance, go stay at La Romea!! <3

We have been visiting Tuscany and Lucca periodically for a number of years but I was surprised to see our first review of La Romea was nearly 12 years ago. We last visited Lucca in October 2019 to have a few days of rest and relaxation after a particularly hectic schedule at home. Gaia and Giulio continue to provide an excellent service. Our favourite room is the Ivory room although we have also stayed in the Blue, Peach and aquamarine rooms. Breakfasts are of a high standard and are better than some of the more expensive hotels we have stayed in different parts of Italy. I like my coffee strong and Gaia serves up the best coffee I have tasted in our various holiday to a fascinating country. We have never visited La Romea and left with the impression that standards were slipping which could so easily happen particularly after a number of years. A home from home.…

The B&B was a little hard to find, but Gaia's directions we great but streets in Lucca, like all of Italy, are not that well marked. Gaia met us at the entrance to the B&B and INSISTED on carrying our luggage up to the room. She rode with us to make sure we could find where to park the car and gave us a little tour while walking back to the B&B. We had the peach room which was beautifully appointed, large, and very comfortable. Gaia's recommendations for dinner were great. We enjoyed each meal. The breakfast had everything we needed and then some. Even had cook to order eggs made by her son. Gaia and her son were a pleasure to talk to and learn about Lucca. I must agree with other reviews that the shower floor was too bumpy to be able to stand on comfortably, but this is just a small nuisance. We would recommend La Romea to anyone wishing to stay in Lucca, and we would stay again!!!…

My husband and I loved Lucca, and staying at La Romea was a big part of that. It is perfectly located, our room was spacious and pretty, and breakfasts were outstanding. Best of all, the proprietress, Gaia, who has lived in the area since she was a child, is extraordinarily knowledgeable and helpful. She did so many kind things for us, we were sad to leave. This is the type of B&B where guests return again and again, and we hope to do the same.

La Romea is an enchanting B&B in a wonderful 13th century building with character and charm, a perfect host and a tasty breakfast each morning. The location was in the centre of this quaint town with seriously good restaurants and shopping. We hope to be back one day.

Our friend in Lucca booked us here, and it was perfect! Charming family, lovely space and a beautiful room, wonderful breakfast, and the best location. Attractive courtyard with a wine bar and restaurant outside the entrance. I would give 6 stars if I could!

Hostess is fantastic. This is a wonderfully hospitable place. Book early book here. The location in The center of the old town is hard to beat. The tower with tree on top is a landmark you can always see and find your way back in a confusing town. Take time to ride bikes on the wall path.

Excellent location. Hosts - superb. Great breakfast including eggs and cappuccino. Gaia tips - ie. Puccini concert, free museums on Saturday - helped us pack alot into our 3 day visit. Walk-able to everything. 30 steps to La Romea but I had April surgery & no problem climbing. Nice to be in central location to go back to room & put feet up!

Very nice and attentive host. Spacious nice rooms. Exquisite breakfast with great coffee. The entire place is filled with good vibes. Quiet and very centrally located. Old 13th century house. Excellent quality/price ratio.
