Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My husband and I had a lovely three night weekend stay in this hotel. It is in a beautiful part of Tuscany just a short drive from the centre of Lucca. It is very clean and the staff are very helpful. We used this a our base to visit Pisa, Lucca, Florence and the coast. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Stayed at this hotel in June 2012 for one night. Unfortunately I had originally believed that the hotel was closer to Lucca than is actually the case. Fortunately I did have a car and the drive to Lucca was only about 10 minutes and was able to find a parking space quite easily when visiting the old town. I would recommend using a Sat Nav to find the hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and the price of the room was extremely good for the size (58 euros). The room was quite large and had its own balcony, however it was quite dated and the AC wasn't that great and the TV was very small. However the big thing on the plus side was that the restaurant was very good and reasonably priced. I would definitely eat there again.

We stayed in March 2012. The price was awesome for such a nice hotel, only 49 euro. I've stayed in a lot of small hotels in Italy. Most cost much more and are no where near as good! this one is soo much better and worth more! In summer it is 80 euro/ night which is still really good. This hotel is great in terms of room size and decor. The bathroom was modern and clean, the bed was not a rock like most and it was One bed, not 2 pushed together. we had a beautiful balcony and the breakfast was really well done. The hotel location is absolutely picture perfect! it is right on a regular road so its easy to get too and my GPS went right to it. Parking is right outside the door to the lobby entrance. It is so easy w/ no stepps so you can wheel your luggage right in and

I had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Carignano with my sister and two girlfriends during our recent visit to Lucca. We stayed there for a week while attending Chef Paolo's fabulous cooking school. We found the hotel to be updated, comfortably decorated in serene calming colors. Our room had a balcony with a great view of the beautiful grounds. The staff was among the best I've ever encountered always asking if there was anything we needed. They were very attentive. We found the continental style breakfast to be more than adequate especially since we were attending the cooking school and eating the foods we prepared at lunch. We had dinner every evening at the restaurant there and were always greeted with warm welcomes. Giovanni was the best, along with Claudia and the others

The friendly staff make staying in this hotel very pleasant. The breakfast is included with the room and is very good. Much better than the average "included" European breakfast. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Located just outside of the Lucca city, the views are peaceful. They rent bikes and the Lucca town center is easy biking distance along the river. We walked it and that was easy too. The restaurant attached to the hotel is very good. I sampled many of the items on the menu and was pleased with all. Chef Paolo, the director and proprietor of this establishment and the restaurant, offers cooking classes of which I took 5! I enjoyed them all. I also enjoyed the winery tour offered by the Chef. I highly recommend staying at Hotel Carignano when visiting Lucca.

We used this as our base to see Tuscany. It's a good price, but we chose it because we wanted to go to the cooking school. If you have a car and want a place to base out of, it's a good choice. The people in the hotel were very nice, and seemed family friendly.

I enrolled in Chef Paolo Monti's cooking school and stayed at the hotel as part of the package. The hotel is instantly charming, with a large well furnished foyer with a bar and many charming touches. The staff were welcoming, and friendly and throughout my stay were always bright and happy. The rooms are what you might expect of a corporate style hotel albeit with a little extra charm and were clean, comfortable and well maintained. The hotel has a large carpark, and is really well located for touring the entire region being only a few minutes away from the autoroute exit. It's also only a few minutes outside of the walls of Lucca and there is also a delightful walk along the river from the hotel to the town which is mostly flat and an easy 30 minute walk. The attatched

First up, the restaurant and cookery school are separate from the hotel, and contrary to another reviewer's statement, hotel reception told us halfboard is not available. Don't know anything about the cookery school, except that it's not cheap and it's extra. We tried the restaurant once and were not particularly impressed: very poorly heated on a chilly evening in mid-October, the seafood degustazione menu "two starters" was a mistake we were told (a mistake in two languages?), the seafood courses were essentially the same thing three times over - we couldn't have the beef with mushrooms as main, which looking back was a very strange restriction for paying customers. But since one of my pet peeves is people discussing restaurants when the review is supposed to be about a hotel,

The staff is amazing! Very Attentive and helpful. They are always there to help The rooms are a clean and quiet. My room had a beautiful balcony that overlooked the serene countryside. It is the perfect place to stay as it is only a 5K drive to Lucca. Perfect by bike weather permitting. I highly recommend staying here and taking the cooking class with Chef Paolo. They offer a cooking and accommodation package for a great price! Will definitely return back to Hotel Carignano the next time I am in the Lucca area!
