We had originally thought about going to Montepulciano but stumbled across this hidden gem just outside of Lucca. Incredibly reasonable on pricing and got to meet Giuseppe who has pioneered new techniques in getting more than just organic wines. His biodynamic wines are full of heritage and flavour and tell a tale as interesting as Giuseppe himself as he shares his home with you. Everything was superb and standout. We’ll never forget this and can’t recommend highly enough.

What an amazing stay ! This is a perfect little gem of a place to stay in surrounded by vineyards and amazing Tuscan scenery. It is so peaceful and the owners Giuseppe and Giovanna made us feel so welcome and at home. Even though Guiseppe was very busy with the grape harvest he took the time to give us a personal tasting and shared his amazing expertise and experience of producing exceptional wines. We only stayed 2 nights because we were moving on to Lucca but wished we could have stayed longer. Everything was just perfect and we have promised ourselves that we will return soon! Thank you so much Giuseppe and Giovanna for making us feel so welcome ! Regards Chris and Pete x

We had a fabulous 3 night stay at Fabbrica di San Martino, a short drive from Lucca. What a fantastic place to stay. It is more or less a country estate with the main house and lovely garden and the old stable block set in large vine and olive growing fields with spectacular countryside views. Our hosts were lovely and charming and couldn't be more helpful. Giuseppe stayed up late to let us in after our plane was delayed and we got a little lost. The property is a little difficult to find at night so make sure you get directions from the owners rather than do as we did and get them from a map website. Our room was really an apartment on the ground floor of the old stables. There were two bedrooms, a bathroom and a fully enquipped kitchen/dining/living room with everything you need for self catering even though we were there for B&B. Breakfast was served on the cool terrace of the main house with stunning views. There was coffee, tea, hot water, milk and fruit juice in thermos flasks. On the table were yoghurts, a big bowl of fruit to help yourself from, cheeses, ham rolls, bread, butter, jams and a cake of the day. We were invited to view the inside of the mansion house to see the antique furniture and the interior and it is amazing. There are three restaurants within a short drive. We tried one of them and it was excellent. There are lots of places to eat in Lucca itself. Mustn't forget to mention that In the evenings we had the most spectacular display from the fireflies. This is a great place to stay and we can't wait to return.

The manor, the vineyard, the farmers house were you stay, it all comes together and you wish you could stay a little longer. This place would be lovely with a big family and use up all the rooms with the common rooms, the kitchen, the pool etc. a good place to stay for a week. Nonetheless we only came for one night. La contessa showed us two rooms available in the farmers house just outside the gate of the manor. Both have a bedroom, bathroom and common room and all done in a lovely simple old fashioned but charming way. You are offered an apartment rather than a room even for one night stay. The name "hotel" gave us the wrong impression that we could also eat there but Giovanna made reservations for us at the recommended restaurant nearby. Breakfast is set out in your common room and included ham, cheese etc.
Without a reservation it was a bit tricky to get passed the chain at the entrance but the telephone number is mentioned at the entrance. You can also try ringing all the bells (cantina is the shop), someone will respond eventually. Keep trying, it's worth it.
Next day we bought a case of the estate's wine that we had with our dinner. Giovanna and Guiseppe produce about 12.000 bottles of wine.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and I really don't think words can describe how wonderful it was!
We were staying in a suite on the top floor of the villa which dates back to 1735 and we felt like we were staying in a stately home, the rooms were well equipped and with modern facilities including air con and wifi but were full of gorgeous antique furniture, the bed was so big and comfortable we slept like babies! The view from the property over Lucca and the surrounding hills was absolutely stunning and the breakfast that was laid out for us every morning was an absolute treat. Guiseppe and Giovanna and their daughter Maria were the most welcoming and kind hosts we came across on our 14 day road trip especially when our car broke down and we had to leave it there. We really can't thank you enough for helping us to continue with our holiday. We will be back!

We arrived very late, but the owners' son had waited for us. The fridge in the apartment had been filled with food, a bottle of wine was on the table --- it can't get much better. About 20 minutes away from Lucca in a wonderful Tuscany setting. The breakfast on the veranda is one of a kind.

We had 4 wonderful nights staying here. Giovanna and Guiseppe were wonderful hosts. Beautiful historic apartment and lovely breakfasts on the terrace of the Villa. The tour of the main villa was a highlight of our trip to Tuscany - just fascinating to hear the history and to be staying in a villa built before Cook discovered Australia. The setting among the vines and olive trees overlooking the countryside and town of Lucca was amazing. Loved the donkey and her baby and enjoyed the wine. Thank you for a great stay.

This is an amazing way to experience traditional Tuscany.

Hotel Fabbrica di San Martino is tucked away in the countryside a short drive from Lucca and is surrounded by breathtaking scenery. This villa and farmhouse were a fantastic find and I really recommend a visit.

The owner, Giovanna, gave us a tour of the villa and told us all the history of how it came to her family. The original furniture is amazing and in great condition considering its age. Giovanna also told us all about their organic vineyard and olive groves. This all made our stay that little bit more special.

We stayed in the farmhouse and we had a large bedroom, a huge rustic kitchen but with all the modern appliances you need and a bathroom. You have breakfast on the terrace at the villa which has breathtaking views.

There is a nice outside pool (although we didn't get chance to use it) and ample parking.

There are a number of restaurants within a few minutes drive. On Giovanna's recommendation we went to Lombards which was lovely.

This accommodation gives you chance to wind down and relax and the accommodation is unique and authentic.

Giovanna also gave us lots of recommendations for Lucca itself including the best ice cream shop :-)

We came away thrilled that we had decided to stay here and it really did make our trip to this part of Italy very special.

My husband, two teenage daughters and I stayed in one of the apartments in Fabbrica di San Martino for 5 nights in mid-June. We had a wonderful time. The apartment itself was spacious and comfortable and the views from it (we were on the first floor) were stunning. We treated ourselves to breakfast every day and it was such a treat _ with delicious pastries, fresh fruit and juice and lots of coffee and hot milk. This was available to us on the terrace of the magnificent villa and we could wander up anytime up to 11am! Giovanna and Giuseppe could not have been more welcoming. Giovanna provided us with all of the information we needed on places to eat and to visit. This is a beautiful part of Tuscany that we discovered for the first time. We will definitely be back to Fabbrica and to the area!
