Perfect holiday spot. Located less than 10 km from San Gimmingano in a completely restored castle built in XIth century. Our appartment was located on the 2nd floor, no lift. So we had magnificent view on San Gimignano from the bedroom and some body building while carrying our luggage and shopping. So if that is not Ok with you, make sure you get appartment with less stairs to get to. Our appartment was clean, well equiped, airconditioned and consisted of living room with fully equiped kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. Enough space for two of us and our belongings. Swimming pool pretty big and very clean. Two sun beds allocated to each appartment. Car park big enough for holiday makers and restaurant guests (there is a restaurant La Grotta in the Castle - subject to separate review). Regarding the staff - specialial thanks to Sara who was taking care of the guests offering help and advise. We hope to be back next year.

Wonderful relaxing place to stay - we stayed 7 nights and could easily have stayed longer. Located on a hill with excellent views from our room over the Tuscan countryside and the beautiful town of San Gimignano. We had the tower room. The rooms are well set out and comfortable. As Castello de Fulignano is out of town you do need to have a car but it is the perfect base for exploring the region. Onsite restaurant is very good, if you don’t feel like cooking in your room. Comprehensive information available about what to see and do, in fact Serena emailed it all to us when we made our booking from Australia. Serena is an absolute gem, always helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Always has a big smile. We give the hotel 5 stars but we give the lovely Serena 6 stars. Another big plus is that there is a washing machine and dryer available. Tony and Jill Brisbane Australia

Our booking was cancelled only four days prior to arrival! We booked 8 nights at the hotel about 3 months ago. The hotel had the Tuscan charm we had been looking for and it was suitable for a family (our children are 5 and 7 years). The hotel's announcement came as a very unpleasant surprise since 95% of hotels in the area were already booked in July 2019. Booking.com suggested, in their opinion, a "similar" hotel. If this was not suitable they could help us find other options, or we could do our own search on their website. Further they stated that the cancellation fee for Castello di Fulignano (who had cancelled our booking) will be removed first after a new booking has been made via Booking.com... Booking.com thus informs us that we have to pay a cancellation fee for our booking of Castello di Fulignano if we do not book a new accommodation through them... Unprofessional. We never received any explanation or apology from either Castello di Fulignano or from Booking.com - they did not respond to our emails.

We have visited Tuscany many times and, for this trip, planned to spend a week in and around san Gimignano. Since the address was San Gimignano we booked a week at this lovely resort. When we got there we found it was not too close to the village but we were far from disappointed. Our plans consisted of day trips to San G and the surrounding area but we could have easily spent the whole week relaxing at the Castello. The building is a restored 10th century building finished to a very high standard, right down to the custom made dishes, lamps. even a ceramic colander, all bearing the logo of the hotel. Our apartment was on the top floor ( not so good for us, 39 steps and we are 79 years old) but, after a week of climbing stairs we were in much better shape than when we arrived. Next time we'll ask for a ground floor apartment. The prize, though, was that when we were shown the apartment by Serena, the delightful resident manager, the last thing she showed was our own private tower. Great place for wine and cheese at days end, looking out over the Tuscan landscape. There are all the amenities, a lovely swimming pool, a guest laundry and, best of all at the end of a long day, a very nice on site restaurant. Next time we will plan to spend more days at the hotel, just soaking up the Tuscan ambiance.

We stayed in one of the lovely apartments, with beautiful sights and warm, comfortable wooden furniture. There was beauty everywhere, inside and of course outside with glorious views of green hills surrounding the property and the picturesque San Gimignano in the background. We had a fantastic time, enhanced by the efficient organisation provided by Serena, a most welcoming hostess. The meal and the service at the restaurant were great! I will never forget the little kitchen window opening onto the idyllic view of the Castello and surroundings and the tiny coffee cups greeting me every morning! What a treat!

I stayed at The Castello di Fulignano to celebrate a ‘special’ birthday with some friends. We were all amazed about the beauty of the building, the position and the breathtaking views. The view of SAN Gimignano, one of my favourite places, is right in front of you and we could enjoy it from our apartment as well as the restaurant and swimming pool. I had dinner at the restaurant twice and both times had a great meal and the staff was very professional and attentive. The apartment was very comfortable, tastefully decorated with an exquisite attention to details and the kitchen with everything we needed. At arrival we were welcomed by Serena, who was a fabulous host. She was very helpful and very attentive to all our needs all throughout our stay. I will recommend this place for couples but also families in fact, I have already booked to go back with my family over the Easter holidays.

I stayed at the Castello from 28 to 30th sept 2018 for a friend’s birthday. The location is heavenly at the top of a hill, with fantastic view of the Tuscan countryside and San Gimignano. The swimming pool area is clean and very well kept. Our apartment was lovely, spacious and spotlessly clean. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. Mrs Serena is very welcoming, efficient and knows everything about the area. Unfortunately I didn’t have time to try the restaurant, my friends did and said it was very good. We are planning to return at the Castello next year as we had such a brilliant stay.

This hotel is perfection. The rooms are comfortable and spotless, the property is gorgeous, the pool is stunning, the staff is so helpful (Serena is GREAT!), the location is perfect for day trips all around Tuscany, the price is reasonable, and the restaurant is wonderful. We enjoyed every moment of our stay at this incredible place!

We visited the Castello di Fulignano in July 2018 and had a wonderful stay. We were in the Ottone unit which is high up over looking San Gimignano on one side and the court yard on the other. The unit has all the amenities and is immaculate. There are beautiful views on all sides of the property. We would return to the Castello after a day out and spend a couple of hours relaxing and swimming in the beautiful pool. The manager, Serena was extremely helpful and personable. She suggested a few day trips that were great - take her advice, always spot on! There are many good sights within a half day. It is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the countryside of Tuscany - we will be back!

We spent a week at this historic Castello. It's ideally located for day trips throughout the Tuscany region. We loved the views of the surrounding area from the patio, walks up and down the country road, and the quiet. Comfortable apartment, clean, quiet and relaxing. It's away from public transport, so you need a car. Serena, our host, was just amazing to work with as we planned the trip, and very attentive to our needs while there. The attached restaurant, La Grotta di Fulignano, was fabulous with excellent service. Last but not least, the view from our apartment of San Gimignano was priceless.
