We chose this hotel because it has a secure parking garage (20 euros per day extra charge). It is a clean, basic hotel. Do NOT drive past the hotel or you will enter a ZTL zone. Our first room was so tiny so we upgraded at a cost of 25 euros per day to a room with a huge terrace and view.

Worst coffee in Italy. Otherwise the breakfast was OK. The room seems to have been made from a conference room with an enormous mostly empty bathroom. Nice view but no aircon. They did offer to allow us to put our bikes in the room [difficult with a small lift], but we left them lightly secured in the bike rack in the garage without issue. i would not leave any valuable bike there.

We went to Siena for a few days city tour without the children and found it to be one of the nicest places we had ever been to. The hotel was exceptional and great value for a 3 star. The room had the most amazing terrace which had fabulous views of the city and was only a 10min walk to the Palio centre which was stunning. The staff at the hotel were great and the breakfast varied and fresh. We would go back again as we love Italy. Thanks
Ps, we travelled in June 2018 and forgot to write a review

I brought my students, teachers, and parents to Hotel Minerva on our study tour of Italy/Siena. As soon as I got there, one of my group asked me if there was any toilet paper in my room, since there was none in theirs. To my shock and surprise, there was none! In addition, they were a group of three, but there were only two we in beds in the room. When I went to the front desk, they said they would add another bed to room, and handed me several rolls of toilet paper for the two rooms. A while later, my students informed me that they only had three twin beds in a quad. When I spoke to the night receptionist, he told me there was nothing he could do, that I had to talk to the manager in the morning. Next morning, when I spoke to the manager, he denied he was the manager, saying he was only a receptionist, and that there was nothing he could do. I had to speak to the owner, and he didn’t know when or if she would arrive. Eventually, they put another mattress in the quad, so my group had sufficient beds, but why did I have to ask for TP and beds?!?! They told me the owner was never there, but my students told me they met her, and she introduced herself to them! During breakfast, the girl running the breakfast room broke three glasses on the floor just during the time I was there, and then laughed about it! Avoid this place like the plague!

Very fine hotel with a/c, elevator and parking. Rooms with a balcony or terrace available. Ours 0006 had a terrace overlooking the city. They are taking COVID precautions seriously. It’s an uphill walk to town but that where the action is. Bus station about a 10 minute walk and train station about 20 minutes away

We spent two night at the Minerva hotel (night 13 and 14 of a five week trip) and have completely fallen in love with Siena. We were in room 309 which has a lovely balcony and a great view. Room was spotlessly clean when we arrived and the lovely lady who cleaned it for us yesterday did a perfect job. Very comfortable bed, we asked for extra pillows which arrived immediately. Very quiet and big shutters so can be in total darkness if like me you prefer to sleep that way. Very nice continental breakfast which sets you up for a day of wandering the beautiful streets of Siena. 5 minutes walk to the start of the main lanes/streets of Siena so a great location. Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in Siena who wanted central hotel at a very reasonable price.

We braved a one night stay in Siena the night before Il Palio in July 2023 and it was great. The Hotel Minerva was easy to find on a main street into town. There was no parking in front of the hotel (except quick illegal parking) and we had received no reply to our hotels.com request for their reserved parking garage. But the hotel got us into another parking garage marked "Full" a few blocks away though it was a steep climb back from there to the hotel.

They had a good English speaking front desk person who was very helpful.

The hotel had a good breakfast with our usual cappuccino and the usual cold cuts and fruit and rolls. They were also in a very good location where we could walk to the old town section where there's a nice pedestrian only shopping area and some viewing of the preparations for the horse race.

We had a pretty little balcony off our hotel room which is shown below.

A nicely situated hotel 15 minutes to the centre. Parking available at 10 euros a night. Breakfast was lovely and hotel nice and clean. However the cleaners started cleaning st 8am and the hoover was going outside our room which wasn't geat seeing as we were on vacation.

One night stay, the best location, close to the train station and to the historical center)_ Piazza del Campo etc. The personnel was really helpful to everything needed to have a pleasant stay to Siena !
They accommodated me to a very large room with full view to the city and I did not need anything more to enjoy my stay there! Bravissimi!

The only disadvantage is that there was no soundproofing in the room and despite the view of the room and all the amenities, I did not manage to sleep... The breakfast was also good. The basics but good coffee and nice cakes!

Overall. a pleasant stay! Thank you!

Ok so we had hugely inflated prices , due to the Palio being on, that I understand . What was disappointing was the breakfast , hotel was clearly very busy, but there was little choice of food available or left the days we were there. There is no hot food , disappointing . Rooms are dated, furniture good quality , and pretty clean, just dark and needs modernising. Staff are friendly, although I think breakfast they were slightly harrassed with the coffee making . It’s an ok stay , we felt it expensive for what it was , breakfast let’s it down , but had I paid third of the price, I’d be happy .
