Finaly allowed to travel after lockdown so decided on a stopover in Siena. We needed safe parking so decided on somewhere close but not in the centre. We called this hotel to ask if they would accept a dog and two cats and the unflappable host assured us it would be no problem. No extra cost. The property is set off the main road so is very quiet. The views from the lovely terrace and gardens are stunning. The rooms were perfect for us and I loved the quirky mix of antique, liberty and 60's vintage which is typical of properties which have been restored at different times by different owners. Everything was very clean, comfy mattresses and soft towels. Very good breakfast and lovely informative host Lorenzo. We walked back and forth from the hotel to Siena on both days and the walk is quite pleasant, about 20 minutes to Piazza del Campo but only 10 to the Porta Romana entrance to the city walls.
I would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for something different from a chain hotel. I'm sure it will not disappoint!

My husband and I stayed in November 2022 for only one night but the hospitality of Giacomo and Lorenzo made us wish we could stay much longer. This was not just a place to stay but an experience. The hotel, once a summer home for a preeminent family in Siena (we found their family crest everywhere in the city) was beautify situated right outside the city walls (making parking much easier) and with a breathtaking view of the valley and the city. Lorenzo and Giocomo had such a passion and love for Siena that they had us wishing we could explore every church and museum. They not only helped us pick some choice places to visit in Siena based on our tastes, but gave us suggestions for routes and stops on our road trip. Because of them we had a picturesque and uncrowded drive into the Val d'Orcia that we will never forget. The rooms were comfortable and the breakfast was delicious and comforting, we especially loved the local cheeses. I highly recommend the Palazzo di Valli for any stay in or near Siena.

From the moment we were greeted at the door by Giocomo and later by Laurenzo as well as the chef, we were family.
The property and views are amazing-the rooms are spacious and have everything needed. The breakfast on the beautiful patio overlooking Siena is my favorite. Be sure to plan time to just sit and enjoy the beautiful serenity. Can order wine in the evening and enjoy the sunset.
A 15 min walk to the entry of town or a shuttle bus nearby for $1.50 each way—they run every 15 min but street closures make it a little difficult. taxis at night can be tricky as shuttles stop after 8:30pm. Plan accordingly. The taxi in the square by the Campanella is prob the best and the waiters at the nearby restaurant can call one.
Parking onsite

Siena is a restful beautiful city and as I told Laurenzo, the city and hotel make for a wonderful stay—-but it’s Giocomo and Laurenzo that make it extraordinary.

My wife and I had the idea to do a vacation somewhere in Europe and inviting my parents to join us. We decided to go back to Italy where we have been few years before. My wife has been in Italy several time and even stayed there years back for a whole year as an exchange students, so she is pretty fluent in Italian language which was helping us very much. As we had invited my parents to join us, I had to make sure they are comfortable with the hotel we booked. When I did some research, I came across the Palazzo Di Valli and was immediately in love with it. As you can see on the pictures on there website (palazzodivalli.it/en), it is an old Tuscan Villa converted to a cosy and luxurious hotel with an excellent breakfast which is even included in the room prices. The Villa was restored to its old glory and they made sure all the ceiling paintings in the reception hall and in the most rooms are as beautiful as the ceilings in Italien churches. Giacomo, the owner of the Palazzo di Valli, can speak very well English and even some German, so my parents were in a good spot to feel comfortable. He was giving us a lot of tips where to go and what need to see while being in Siena. The Palazzo di Valli is about 5 minutes away from the city gate and another 5 minutes to center where all the city’s attractions are located. There is also a bus station at the entrance down by the street if someone is not so good on foot. The hotel stands on the top of a hill and is surrounded by beautiful olive trees and farm land. In the morning you hear nothing else then nature and even a donkey was calling out on the other side of the valley every morning like rooster. When you get up early enough, the valley is filled with fog and when the morning sun breaks through, you are gifted with an amazing view over the entire valley. This place in magical!

A room with a view! This is the first thing which stuns you at Palazzo di Valli. An eighteenth-century palace with Art Nouveau decor, delightful rooms with excellent air conditioning, great service from Giacomo and Lorenzo, you feel like staying with family. A copious breakfast prepared by Sofiane, served on a spectacular terrace with views on Sienna and the beautiful countryside prepares you for a day of wonders in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. And if you need a recommendation for a top-notch restaurant, just talk to Giacomo or Lorenzo.

The Palazzo di Valli is a beautiful hotel on the outskirts of the medieval city of Siena. The reception room and our bedroom were beautifully decorated and large. We had a "comfort" room on the main floor. The view out our window was amazing, the bed was very comfortable, and the room itself was huge. We had drinks on the terrace every afternoon and breakfast every morning. The staff were very helpful and friendly, although not too fluent in English. We had no problem is communicating however. Their English was certainly better than our Italian!
We had planned to take taxis into the old city, however, sometimes the taxi service did not respond to calls. Our back up worked very well: a small bus stopped very close by and dropped us off in the Piazza Mercato within a few minutes. We were able to buy bus tickets from the hotel reception for 1.70 euro (much better than the 3 euro cost if you buy them on the bus.)
The hotel is very comfortable and quiet, I would highly recommend it.

Fantastic, quaint, friendly, local place to stay in Siena. Its around a 15mins walk to the centre of town with parking and lovely original featured rooms l. Lorenzo & Giacomo were fantastic giving us local restaurants and places to go. On top of this it was fantastic to hear about the house and its history. Every morning we had a great continental breakfast looking over the brilliant surroundings of Siena and Tuscany. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

Located at the foot of the old city and surrounded by the stunning Tuscan countryside, this beautiful and historic house offers everything you can wish for when travelling — a perfect location, comfortable lodgings, friendly and helpful hosts, inspiring views and a sense of communion with history. On this second visit of ours, we again wished we were staying much longer. Palazzo di Valli offers comfort, serenity as well as unforgettable memories. Giacomo e Lorenzo, grazie infinite.

This was a lovely place! Totally unexpected you felt as if you were staying at the summer house of an Italian family and the rooms truly had amazing views. You are only 10 minutes walk from a city gate but it felt like being in the countryside with a garden, an olive grove and a great terrace for breakfast and drinks. The rooms were large and well decorated. The owners and staff could not have been more helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was very good. Free parking on site was very welcome and it was easy to get into the city on foot/by bus or to drive out into the country.

Dear Merfyn, to reach the Pisa airport (or the Florence airport) from Siena is not too complicated by train or by bus. If you prefer to have a taxi or a shuttle we can help you but you have to consider a cost of about 220,00 Euro. As an alternative: our night porter sometimes performs this service for our customers, in this case the cost is cheaper than the taxi. At this time the hotel is closed and he is not here but if you like in the first days of March we can let you know the exact cost of his service .. Please don't hesitate to join us if you need more information With our best regards Lorenzo Hotel Reservation Office

yes, it will be very easy to get Florence by car (1 hour), by public bus it takes 1h15m. or by train 1h.30m - the bus runs every hour during the week (not so often on Sunday) and also the train runs every hour to go to Florence
