You don't stay at Podere Il Pero, you feel at home! A place where every plant, every scent, every tree, every decorative object has a story. Il Pero is Tuscany within Tuscany itself. The comfort and care of the room with a very comfortable bed, clean and scented sheets and towels. The shower is perfect. Everything is perfect! A charming farm with a strategic location in a quiet neighborhood, a location where birds provide the soundtrack. Gianni, Giovanna and Lorenzo have the most affectionate smiles and hugs we found in all of Italy. As wonderful and enjoyable as starting the day to discover the villages and small towns of Chianti or Val D'orcia, it was returning "home" at the end of the afternoon and finding Giovana's friendliness, Gianni's attention and care and the Lorenzo's smile for a welcoming and pleasant chat. Thank you very much for the wonderful days we enjoyed in Il Pero. Be happy! Pasquarelli Jr and Eliana.

After having a small adventure with the Italian rail system, we arrived late at Podere Il Pero and thought we had died and gone to heaven. Our host, Gianni, was extremely kind and kept the office open for us until our train arrived in Siena. We had just spent a few days in Rome and the quiet and serene setting of this B&B was a welcome respite. The views were gorgeous (they have a large property with fruit trees, grapevines and lovely landscaping), our room was extremely clean and we had a lovely two night stay. Gianni was always helpful and available for questions, the breakfast was a wonderful way to start the day and you're still close enough to walk or catch a cab or a bus to the city center. I simply can't say enough about this place - this will always be our place to stay and relax in Siena.

My wife and I have stayed twice at Podere il Pero and loved it both times. Our most recent stay was for the Palio in August and several years before that we spent a few weeks in the ground-floor apartment using it as a base to explore Tuscany. Gianni and his parents are the nicest hoteliers we've ever come across. They go out of their way to make your experience a positive one and can't do enough for you.
As an example, when we were staying in the apartment we used the hotel's washing machine to clean our clothes. One day when I went to hang them on the line I found the line already full with clothes from Gianna's family. Apparently his mother saw me turn around and head back to the apartment because five minutes later Gianni's father was out in the field hanging another line for our use. We also used to find fresh figs and grapes from their garden on our kitchen table when we returned from our trips into the city.
The rooms at Podere il Pero are quite large, particularly by European standards, and are extremely clean and up to date. Breakfast also is excellent. Overall, Podere il Pero is a tremendous value.
The location is just outside the city walls of Siena itself, but my wife and I always enjoyed the quiet and the view from the patio at the end of the day. It's about a 25-minute walk to get into town. Fortunately, my wife and I enjoy walking, and it wasn't an issue. There also is a bus at the bottom of the street that will take you up to the center of Siena if you don't want to walk.

I stayed in Siena for only one night, not long enough at all. Siena is a very beautiful City, Piazzo Il Campo is without a doubt the heartbeat of Siena.
It is a Must. But the best part of Siena was our accommodation. We stayed in a country cottage just 10 minutes walk from the Centre. The cottage (Podere II Pero) was fantastic, our room was huge and very comfortable in comparison to the other hotels where we stayed in Italy. It also had a garden with some chairs where one could relax and chill out after a day of exploring. The owner Gianni was just wonderful and his English was very good which was great. He could tell us exactly where to go in Siena and also where to visit in the countryside. His mum and father were great hosts. His mum made some wonderful homemade cakes for breakfast which was a really nice treat and a great way to
start the day!
If you are going to visit Siena I thoroughly recommend that you stay in
Podere II Pero-Montalbuccio.

If you want a place to be a base to discover Tuscany, Il Pero is the perfect one! Located in Siena, just outside of the historic center, you will find peace and beauty in Gianni’s jewel! He and his parents made our stay an unforgettable one. The place is awesome, spotless clean and very comfortable. The breakfast delicious, including Gianni’s mother’s homemade delights! Will go back for sure!

We stayed here for five nights, while touring throughout Tuscany, and loved every minute of it. The house is ideally located for those traveling by car, outside Siena's walls (and driving restrictions) but withing easy reach. The meaning of "Podere" is approximately "old farm house", and it is indeed very sturdily built, with thick interior walls that provide excellent insulation and sound proofing. There were two babies staying in the house at same time, but we never heard a thing! As described by previous reviewers, the B&B is extremely comfortable and charming, with a lovely garden. Our room was spacious, with a good bed, storage and reliable WiFi. The roomy bathroom contained a good shower, bidet and plenty of towels. The breakfasts were excellent, with many home-made products to look forward to every morning. But perhaps the best part of our stay were the wonderful hosts-- Gianni and his parents, who made us feel so welcome--even before we arrived!

We stayed here for 2 nights while touring Tuscany and had a wonderful experience. I can’t say enough positive things about our host, Gianni. He was so warm and welcoming from the minute we arrived, and really went out of his way to make sure our stay was extra special. He has so much knowledge on Tuscany and in particular Siena, and is understandably proud of this wonderful region.

The B&B is spotless and very charming, and the location is great too. Just a 15 minute walk to old town Siena or there is a bus close by (we walked several times a day, it was lovely). Rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was without a doubt the best we had in Italy – so much variety and lots of really delicious home-made pastries. The grounds of the property are lovely, very well kept with beautiful gardens and a terrace to relax on with a glass of wine at the end of the day.

There is also parking on the property which was a big plus for us as we had a car (recommend hiring one if you’re touring Tuscany).

Podere Il Pero is really great value, and I would not hesitate to recommend it. We loved Siena and staying here just made it all the more special. We hope to come back and stay at Podere Il Pero again one day!

Lovely clean and good sized room. Very welcoming owner and staff, with a lovely breakfast with good choice. Close to the town centre so easily walked but also close to bus stop too. Will definitely return.

Podere Il Pero is a good place to stay near Siena if you have a car. Between the hassle and expense of parking, and the terror of the ZTL, you're much better off leaving your car well outside the city walls.

As for Podere Il Pero, it is a simply decorated, well managed place. Rooms are clean and comfortable. There is some street noise, as the building is right beside a road that has moderate traffic. The owner and manager is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is basic but acceptable.

Although it is much better to leave your car at Podere Il Pero, getting into the center of Siena is not so easy. The bus stop is a 10-minute walk from the B&B, and half of the way you're on a road without sidewalks (sidewalks aren't so common in many places in Tuscany). The bus itself is good, but on weekends the bus only comes every 30 minutes, so if your timing is off you'll be waiting a while... and on all days bus service stops at 8:30pm. This means that if you have dinner in the center of Siena you will either have to walk or take a taxi back to Podere Il Pero. I walked but it is not a short or pleasant walk -- you have to go on busy roads, often without a sidewalk, and it is neither comfortable nor scenic.

Podere Il Pero is a good option, but there may be places that are more conveniently located in Siena that can also accommodate cars.

We stayed at Il Pero for a night traveling through Siena. The owner Gianni is an attentive host, friendly and helpful in providing recommendations for places to eat. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms lovely. I enjoyed the quaint feeling of the place, decorated to fit in with the location and its rich history. The room was large and very clean. The bathroom was nicely updated with heated towel racks and good water pressure. There is parking on the grounds of the hotel. We stayed in one of the rooms facing the street, which meant some traffic noise in the morning, but nothing terrible.

The podere is about a 20-minute walk to the walled historic city. There is a bus during the daytime but stops around 8pm. We walked one evening into the historic city and back, didn't feel it was strenuous or in any way unsafe. The breakfast was plentiful with many options of fresh fruits, breads, cold meats, cheese, jams, cereals and yogurt. Of course there was plenty of Italian coffee to go around. Overall a very comfortable stay with a filling breakfast, attentive host, and a short walk to all the sights. What's not to like?
