Belle epoque hotel and restaurant is a piece of jewellery in the center of Bern. It is beautifully decorated in Belle Epoque style. The size of the room is superior to many other city hotels. It is perfectly placed to visit the center of the old city.
We loved the concept of replacing the breakfast buffet by an individual service to maintain social distances and hygienic measures and probably avoiding food waste: the waiter served us at the terrace a selection of breads, croissants, cheese, jam, ham, eggs dishes, jus, tee or coffee.

The hotel is very close to Einstains house and who knows if Einstein may have also enjoyed here a cup of coffee at the time!
All in all we have loved the stay for our wedding anniversary.
Very good price for high value and quality.

The hotel is perfectly located in the old part of central Berne. Staff were very helpful and room comfortable. The hotel is is now under new management, so some of the older reviews are most likely out of date. Our stay was seamless and cheap car park very short distance away and it is part paid by the hotel. If you have a car, you can park right out the front to unload your luggage before moving car to nearby car park.

This hotel has some amazingly friendly and cool staff and is located right in the center of Berna. The bears park, rose garden and famous clock tower are at walking distance. The rooms are clean and epoque style, everything is perfect. The parking is behind the hotel, they will give you a discount voucher. Do not park in front of the hotel on the “hotel” signs, it is generally completely forbiden in Berna, even if they seem the right place for parking.

Great Bern Hotel in an amazing location. Very traditional hotel, but they have really thought about modern touches. The rooms are very well equipped, beds are really comfortable.
Staff were extremely polite and helpful, nothing seemed to much for them.

Nice room, very clean, good bed. We had high up and towards the street. That was not noisy. Location is good. Free bus travel included. We also had breakfast included as we ordered from their website. Buffet was good. Very friendly and service minded staff.

Great welcome, jazz music on at the bar, white gluhwein with an original twist. Comfortable room and a warm welcoming feel to the hotel. Staff excellent. The room was comfortable, the style of the Belle Epoque is everywhere.

Very rude front desk. Do not recommend this spot. It’s close to the metro station which is nice.

Rooms are alright. Staff rudeness makes the stay very questionable. There are tons of nearby hotels to checkout instead.

Actually just wondering where these 4 stars come from. Probably the management just added it to their logo.... Probably not certified 4 stars. It is more a banal 3 star hotel. Old furniture (but fake belle epoque style...). Small rooms. Small bathrooms. Old bathtowels (and small too). No minibar. Poor breakfast. Beds are two separate beds. Not very comfortable mattresses. Noisy rooms (street side). Very small TV screen. If you use a product on the first night they don't change it for the second night. Poor service. High prices. Cleaning ladies do a partial job. Location is pretty ok but there are definitely much better choices close-by.

If you're in Bern and hungry for food stay at the hotel as other reviewers recommend it. The restaurant is absolutely terrible. Menu states 'grilled chicken with side order of salad' - reality is is that you get a huge plate of salad with hairs in it and the smallest fillet if chicken possible. When asked if this is correct the rude German service people simply walk away with WOW off the end of their lips, insinuating that they have quality within their establishment. With a second chance in mind they bring a second 'tiny' fillet which is pink inside. We felt abused, mistreated and I was glad to highlight that their pink chicken wouldn't agree with me. We don't recommend this place at all and they don't deserve 4* least of all their cheap German staff! Good luck otherwise....

This is a good hotel so long as you don't expect 4 stars. Advantages: unbeatable location right in the middle of the old town, right next to the best gelato place in town, very clean, renovated bathroom, friendly and helpful staff. Disadvantages: old furniture and carpet in the rooms but particularly in the corridors and common areas, average to below average overpriced breakfast. If you stay here ask for a room on L2 and above, facing the main street (great view) or you could be looking into a wall.

A general observation after travelling around Switzerland for 3 weeks and staying in a mixture of 4 and 5 star hotels: there seems to be a huge gap between 4 and 5 stars in Switzerland so it's possible that this hotel is on par with other 4 star hotels in Switzerland. Comparing it to other 4 star hotels elsewhere in the world (eg Italy) it bears no resemblance to 4 stars.

Dear Sir Thank you for your e-mail and for your interest in the Hotel Belle Epoque. There is the possibility to park directly in front of the hotel for 15 - 30 minutes to put the luggage in the room or at the reception. For a longer period of time: Public parking is possible at a location nearby (reservation is not needed) and you receive an exit ticket for the parking from the hotel. The ticket costs 20 CHF. We would be glad to welcome you in our hotel. Kind regards Nicolas Schneider Reception
