This hotel reminds me of those grand european hotels you see in movies. Complete with the big, comfortable furniture and the terrace overlooking Lac Luzern. We arrived quite late and the service was really good. Check in was easy and our room was large and with a spectacular view over the lake and in to the city. Our room, on... More

The hotel is beautiful and very clean with great views of the lake. Only problem was that it was a 15 minute walk to the center of town. When you returned to the hotel you needed to climb up a pretty decent sized hill which could be difficult. I just wish I knew that it was uphill when I reserved... More

If you are looking for a hotel room that has minibar with tea & coffee making facilities, you will find it not available here. HOWEVER, if you are looking for a light/airy & spacious room, with balcony - allowing you magnificent views across Lake Luzern to the Swiss Alps - plus the most obliging & attentive staff, then look no... We stayed 4 nights at the Hotel Royal and thoroughly enjoyed it. The room we had was very spacious, on the top floor with two balconies and great views of the lake and Mt Pilatus. Although mid-July with some of the days hitting the mid 30s, we didn't find the temperatures in the room too bad - it was warm... More

Rooms are clean. Bathrooms are a bit small, but workable. Staff is friendly and helpful. The lack of AC was not an issue as we simply opened the balcony doors, then closed the shudders to keep bugs away. Beds are very comfortable. The restaurant staff is by far the friendliest we've encountered. Free Breakfast is very good with eggs made... More

Gorgeous Hotel both inside and out. Sadly, we were there on a hotel Summer day. I say sadly because the hotel doesn't offer air conditioning, fans or fridges in rooms. When we asked if there was a fan available the staff member was quite rude about only having a couple of weeks of hot weather a year and not needing... More

The walk from the bus stop is up three blocks with a thirty percent grade. The hotel has no air conditioning like most hotels in Switzerland. The problem is there are no screens on the windows and they ask you not to open the windows due to the insects. They offer no fans. It is unbearably hot. The rooms were... More

We enjoyed our stay at this charming family-run hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the buffet breakfast was nice. One thing to be aware of - it is quite a steep walk up the hill from the bus stop. Also, the rooms have no air conditioning so was a little "stuffy" trying to sleep even with windows open.... More

We stayed here as part of a Road Scholar Program. Our room had a beautiful view of Lake Lucerne. Everything was neat and clean. The food was good. The breakfast buffet choices were a delight. I especially liked a combination of muesli, fresh fruit and yogurt that was served each morning. Most of the staff was very friendly.

We have stayed at 4 different hotels in our recent trip to Switzerland. This is the most expensive one and unfortunately the worst one. First, staffs (owners, I think) are not friendly and cannot care less. You don't feel welcome at all. One time, I was even rudely interrupted as I was asking something. Second, location. Although the view is... More
