We booked this hotel last minute during a spur of the moment road trip from France. I was so impressed with how comfortable the room was. Enjoyed delicious food in the hotel restaurant. I appreciated the delicious breakfast and staff taking the time to chat to us. Woke up to a

Inefficient, full of attitude and middle age system. The reception is open from 7am. This was problematic for check in and check out for travellers. At 5:30 am, there were already three guests waiting in the cold dark reception to check in. This was the same for check out. As

Dear guest, we are very sorry that your departure did not meet your expectations and we would like to apologize for all inconveniences and circumstances caused to you. Our front desk is open from 7 am until 10 pm. Therefore we have to know about early check out's and late check in's that it can be organized. We are very sorry that we missed that and we did not informed you correctly. We are also very sorry that our front desk staff gave you a rude feeling. Unfortunately, we have had bad experiences with guests who left without payment. Thanks for your understanding and we hope you still can keep your stay in Grindelwald in a good memory, Best regards, Gisela Heller & team

Hello there, thanks a lot for your question. Some of the superior twin rooms do have a balcony. If you make a booking you can put a special request and if possible we try to give you a superior room with balcony (depending on vacancy). If you book a Lifestyle or Lifestyle plus room you will be sure to have a balcony with Eiger mountain view. The entrance into our Selfness centre with sauna and fitness area is included in the room rate. If you like to have a massage or to use the Privat Spa or Blossom pool we allow us to charge a supplement. Best regards, Gisela

While I do not recall the mattress type, I will state that is was fairly firm. That coupled with a thick comforter made is a comfortable sleeping experience. Of all of the hotels we stayed at in Switzerland, Hotel Eiger was our favorite.

Like "dmfred" we have never been to Grindelwald in December however you except the weather to be quite cold. The Jungfrau train trip is a must. Walking on the various trails may be a problem if the snowfalls are heavy. The views of the Eiger are unforgettable - we stayed at the Hotel Eiger ( I think it was a Wellness hotel) and our room had a balcony which provided a direct view of the Eiger. When booking your hotel in Grindelwald ask if you can have a room with a balcony view of the Eiger.

Very easy. It’s an ideal location to get to from Grindelwald. Get a train map from the station when you buy your ticket. We got a 4 day train pass which was perfect for exploring the area and it made the additional ticket to the Jungfraujoch cheaper. It’s a brilliant day out - just check the weather and pick a clear day if you can. We went everywhere by train from Grindelwald. They are frequent and punctual and the views are to die for.

Do you provide ski passes?
No, ski passes have to be bought separately and the cost will vary with number of days and region covered. However, best to check with hotel as there may be special packages offered.
