Detailed Reviews
Stayed two nights in the hotel and can say it’s a good one. I had the room with train view but it didn’t bother me when they did pass the river-bridge. Anyway you would have earplugs if you are sensitive for any sound in the night. The rooms are in good shape for the age of the hotel and well mentained from the hotel. Also the hotel is on the river and very close to the trainstation, perfect to do some trips from there. I would stay there again.

I was looking for a hotel near Interlaken OST train station and this was just bang opposite; so super convenient for all the day trips I took all over Bernese Overland. The breakfast was hearty and the views from the window of the river Aare were beautiful. The river cruise ferry station is just beside the hotel too, if you want to take a cruise to Lake Brienz and Lake Thun. The Harder Kulm bahn is within walking distance too. If you want to stay in the quieter part of Interlaken away from the tourist hordes on the other side, then this is your best bet.

The hotel gave us an exceptionally great time with their location (Bang on opposite of the metro station), over looking breathtaking river view from the room and the warmth.
The staff was limited but always there to help and guide. A special mention and shout out for Hamid, who was so so helpful in every little thing we needed. Worth Appreciation.
Thank you so much team for this experience. We would love to come back soon :)

Honestly I know hotels in Switzerland are generally more expensive but in hindsight I wish I had of paid a bit more for a better hotel . We came in a heatwave and I knew it didn’t have air con so that’s not hotels fault but it was one wee fan and it was torture . The whole hotel was like an oven then room were you eat breakfast didn’t have as much as s window open we literally couldn’t eat breakfast it was that hot . The hotel hasn’t been decorated in like 100 years , the bed was rock hard , Stains on carpet ,key for room was a big weight on the key . The only good points are that the hotel is right beside train so really central and the train noise doesn’t bother us . I also am stunned at some of these wonderful reviews and I’m not a Karen I’m actually quite easy going but I paid over £700 for 3 nights which left bad taste . really think if they actually put money into this hotel it would make a big difference

The biggest advantage of this hotel is the location—it’s close to the train station but because of that there’s so much noise during the night. We booked a “mountain view” room and yes, there was a mountain far away but in reality it was a “train station” view room (first floor). Constant train traffic and people yelling so we couldn’t leave the windows open (no A/C). Spacious and clean room, however smell of urine came out of either the toilet or the bidet. The door opens with an actual (HEAVY) key instead of a card—it takes a few tries to make it work. The hotel is like 1000 years old and hasn’t been renovated so if this is your vibe you might like it. WiFi worked well. Breakfast included (limited choices but good food + excellent coffee and lovely river view). It’s funny though that we paid the same amount for a hotel in Luzern and that was a fancy 4 star hotel.

We are on our honeymoon and what a huge disappointment in the worst hotel room we’ve ever stayed in - that has ruined this part of our trip.
We’re both well traveled and neither of us have ever been in a hotel that has misrepresented themselves and blatantly lied like this one. It is meant to be a “four star” hotel and I wouldn’t even say it’s a two star.
The rooms are like walking into 1972, albeit clean, and with no AC they are hot, disgustingly musty with windows that open up to the extremely busy and loud train station, so impossible to keep them open due to the heinous and constant noise.
There is no fridge, bare basic amenities (with one sad instant coffee satchel, not even a Keireg) and the curtains look like my grandma has had them in her house for years, just to get my started. The bathroom makes your eyes hurt with disgusting brown and orange tiles, not at all like the pristine photos on their website.
Everything about this room has been misrepresented and I’m super pissed that I fall for what I suspect are paid reviews.
I warn anyone against staying here. We would have walked out and found another hotel had we not got in so late. So very unhappy. Wish I could add pics here to show you how bad it really is.
Thanks Hotel Du Lac for ruining part of our honeymoon. Won’t be staying or recommending your hotel to anyone other than my worst enemies.

Room Tip: Simply don’t stay here unless you want to feel like you’re in 1972 with your room as a train station

The customer service and genuine concern for their guests was SUPERB! The 2 brothers that run and own this establishment went above and beyond for us from the minute we checked in till LONG after we checked out! Their kindness was so appreciated and we adored them! The view from our room was of the mountains and the train station. We were crawling distance from the train station! When you’re staying in Interlaken and going all over the place by train this is HUGE! I really liked our room and the wonderful breakfast that we had there! I absolutely loved this place and even though it may not be a 5 star hotel, it checked every single box that makes me give it the highest rating allowed! Wonderful stay and I would stay there again in a heartbeat!!!

We stayed in the hotel in Aug 2023 to visit Interlaken. It is not in the center close to Interlaken and we got to take bus or train if we want to visit the center. It maybe good for someone love quiet and peaceful but if you want to explore shopping and tourism you should go to the center which is 1 train stop before. The room is small and facilities are quite old maybe due to the hotel is quite historical. Staffs were also helpful and friendly. Our rooms were close to railroads so we can hear and see trains passing by everytime. Our kid liked it but if you dont just to be aware of.

Convenient location, scenic vistas. Enjoyed my stay in this historic hotel, wished I could stay longer! The room furnishings are colonial style. I love waking up to the sounds of chirping birds and the beautiful river views.
It is just across from Harder Klum, which is open from April to Oct only.. it is also just across from the Interlaken OST train station, and walking distance from the town. However, do expect the noise from the trains as they pass by. That's why ear plus are given.
Since it is an old hotel, the floors creak when u walk on them. Totally expected when you stay in a historic place like this.
The service was great, and I enjoyed the breakfast. The cappuccino is awesome! Thanks to all the attentive staff.

The hotel is perfectly located. It's right across the Interlaken OST train station and the boat station is next to it. It's by the river Aare which gives it a lovely view. The staff is very friendly. Couldn't ask for a better situated, clean, convenient and friendly hotel. It's an old one but very well kept. Don't expect modern furniture or art work but it is quaint and beautiful in its own way. Walking distance to restaurants, shops, bus. We only stayed one night. Breakfast was just ok, I wish they had more meat variety.

Hi, have only stayed in double room so unsure of the facilities available in the smaller single rooms
Dear Deborah,
yes our rooms do have a safe - it's not very big but enough for some Money and passports, etc.
Best regards,
Christine Hofmann, Hotel du Lac, Interlaken
