Detailed Reviews
My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Edelweiss in Murren for two nights in March as part of our 19 day tour de force of Europe. Perched on the edge of a shear rock face, the location is fantastic with breathtaking views of the Alps and valley below from our room.
Our room was clean, well-appointed, and quiet and the beds (with their thick comforters!) were perfect for finishing off days we'll not soon forget as a highlight of our trip.
The breakfasts were plentious and nutritious and the dinner we had at the restaurant was superb. The hotel staff was helpful and friendly and went the extra mile to make our stay memorable.
We will return to Murren again and will stay at Hotel Edelweiss when we do.

+1
This hotel is in a great location perched on the edge of a rock above the valley below. The view of the Eiger and the Monch is right across the valley and when the sun shines there is nowhere nicer to sit and take in that view.
Rooms are small and basic and there are Premium Suites which can be seen in the photos with big rooms bathrooms and big windows to the outside.
Food was very good with a broad choice and the terrace was a great place to eat. Staff were great and very helpful when you discussed trips for the day. They provided recommendations to suit your personal choices.
This area is fabulous and an outdoor lovers haven so if you’re not here to hike etc you might find things very slow. If you are there to relax then that works too.
The temps will be 10 degrees cooler than ground level at Lauterbrunnen so bring appropriate clothing.
Very nice 👍

We stayed in the new “premium” section of the hotel in a queen suite and it was better than my already high expectations ! The entire mountain-facing wall is a giant window + door with a small balcony, the most amazing hotel view I’ve ever had. The bathroom is spacious and gorgeous, shower was super luxurious (high water pressure and heat). They also have a laundry room in this new building and they provide soap free of charge, it was 5 CHF for each wash and dry load, super convenient and cheap to get laundry done. The staff were very nice and helpful as well! The only slight negative was that the food at the restaurant wasn’t that great, but again the view from the outdoor seating area was so good it didn’t really matter. Would absolutely stay here again!

A lovely place, operated with great pride by its owners. We stayed in a junior suite in the new wing and I highly recommend it for a small family or a couple (like us) who wants some extra room to spread out. It has a separate living room and two full bathrooms, and the view from the balcony, while not the “Eiger view” is still spectacular! The hotel is a short walk from the train station, which, trust me, you’ll appreciate after coming up the cable car and off the train to Murren. There’s also a coin operated laundry in the hotel, which is a welcome feature if you’re hiking in these warmer summers. Murren is a dream, and we loved staying here. And it’s moderately priced, too.

This hotel is fantastic!! We are here for three nights with three other couples to explore the Swiss Alps. Rooms are well laid out, although the superior rooms are certainly much more spacious than the standard room. Our room Superior room) has a separate tub (we have not used but would be nice in winter for a hot bath), a couch, desk, patio with small table and two chairs, and ample living space. Only downside to the room is that the toilet area and the shower are encased in glass walls and are not in a separate room, so if one gets up earlier than the other, or during the night, the lights could wake the other. Beds are very comfortable. No refrigerator but the host will gladly let you use the refrigerator in the dining to chill a bottle of wine. Location, location, location though is the story behind this hotel. Pretty much on the end of Murren away from the bustle of town and right on the edge of the cliffs meaning nothing will detract from the views. Picture attached was taken from our balcony. Highly recommend!

We stayed for four nights and were so pleased with our stay. The owners are just lovely people, and the front desk staff are friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the beds were so comfortable. The included breakfast is good quality - the breads were especially delicious. We are missing our daily breakfasts on the terrace overlooking the valley with the mountains above! The hotel has walking sticks guests can borrow and the owners and front desk are helpful with questions about hiking trails. We will definitely return!

For the record, this is not a 5-star luxury hotel, BUT it is an excellent 3-star, clean, well-managed hotel, with one of the most beautiful views I've seen in my lifetime. I seriously couldn't wait to wake up in the morning to see what awaited us outside our window. The staff were eager to help and answered all of our requests. A nice breakfast was provided to start the day and the washer and dryer in the hotel were greatly appreciated. Some of the best attractions in the area are nearby. If you're considering traveling to this region, then Murren and this hotel should be on the top of your list.

What a wonderful stay in an amazing, serene and beautiful town. Words don’t quite capture all that Murren has to offer. You have to visit it to really appreciate this amazing spot.
Perched just above the Lauterbrunnen Valley is the Hotel Edelwiess. From the hotel you look across to the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau mountains and also down into the Lauterbrunnen. It is an amazing and captivating location. I picked a nice sized room facing these scenes and it ranks as one of the most dramatic views I have ever had from a hotel. I expected views during the day but total darkness at nite. Instead the reflective glow of the mountains was a 24x7 view with the moon reflecting off the ice and snow of the mountains, it was amazing.
The hotel location is perfect with an unobstructed 180 degree view. Currently the CoVid Certificate is required to stay in the hotel. Room was quite comfortable, great shower, great wifi. There is a CoOp store in easy walking distance for snacks or whatever you might need. As others have noted the restaurant in the hotel is one of the best in town. Great salads, steak and wow their French fries were tasty.
I found it an enchanting home for the week.

Built on the edge of the cliff overlooking the Lauterbrunnen valley with glorious views (weather permitting!) of the Jungfrau & Eiger, this is a delightful family run hotel only a short walk from the Murren BLM railway station.
The owners were marvellous and very helpful and responsive to requests. I was here for a week skiing with a group of friends.
A very comfortable room with all the amenities you would expect – two others in our group were fortunate to be allocated a room with a balcony – which also came with a bath (in the bathroom) … I just had to cope with a very powerful shower.
There was a good European-style breakfast every day – and we dined in about half the time we were there – nothing to complain about on the food front.
The hotel offered a temporary membership to the pool at the local sports-center 450m walk away. There was a sauna there too – but at an additional cost. We tried our hand at curling (also at the sports-center) after some (essential!) instruction we were left to get on with it. Great fun – and not as easy or graceful as it looks on the telly!
The walk to the ski lift seemed longer than the 400m it is when in ski boots & carrying skis.

this hotel’s restaurant is a very large, modern looking terrace with great mountain views. The schweinsschnitzel (27 CHF) was very good. We asked our server, Juraj, for a pizza without tomato sauce and without gorgonzola. He rolled his eyes and said immediately, “no.” But they did a great job. This pizza was a thin crust, soft in the middle and crispy like a cracker around the edges, with mozzarella, alpenkase, and gran Padano cheeses melted perfectly.
