very nice staff, clean rooms at a good value, Nice breakfast with a beautiful view of the lake. We had a wonderful lunch on arrival with no reservations. Great time of year to visit not too busy, lots to see in the area.

We had a mix up at the schloss hotel (glad we didn't stay there as it has signs everywhere saying you can't do this that or the other!) over our pet dog - we thought it was pet friendly and it wasn't. As a result we found ourselves in town at 10pm during the film festival with a disgruntled dog...

When we saw 94 properties with a room available 9 September we thought we'd find one when we got to Locarno on our drive around Lake Maggiore. In case the traffic is too scary (it Wasn't) we could get the car ferry across from Laveno to Verbania and stay Stresa instead. Room was clean, biggish, if small bathroom, people cheerful,...

We were in Locarno on a cold, wet night, and most of the restaurants were virtually empty. We chose this place because they were featuring a special asparagus menu - what a treat! As it turned out nobody else seemed to fancy asparagus that evening, so we were alone in the restaurant. The poor waiter was obviously longing for something...

Hotel was well located for our travel by train. Our room was on the back side and overlooked the station. There is train noise, but they stopped running before we went to bed so that was OK. The receptionist was welcoming and seemed interested in our travels. Our room was of average size for this level of hotel. It could...

This hotel is a small, modest hotel with a mostly Swiss and German clientele. In many ways, it is actually a restaurant with rooms. It is an excellent value for money -- just not for those who are looking for five-star luxury or for staff members all of whom speak English. Its main attraction are the excellent meals, drop-dead gorgeous...

This hotel offers little for 220CHF for a "mountain view" double room. To see the mountain you had to be able to see past the railway station which is immediately behind the hotel and audible given the lack of air conditioning which requires windows be left open. The room was tiny and there was barely room to stand in the...

the rudest staff at reception I ever experienced. I would rather sleep on the street than in this hotel again!

The only thing between this hotel and the lake is a two-lane road and a park-like area. The views from our room were beautiful and we were only one floor above street level. The lake, palm trees and snow-caped Alps all in the same view! The hotel is run by the owners who were there every day of our 10-day...

“Rooms on the back are about 100CFH less money and have no view of the lake. It was dark most of the time we were in the room so no view anyway.”

“If you want view and are willing to pay a bit more, take the lake side (however, it can be nosier in the summer). On the mountain side, there is not much of a view but you save money.”
