My husband and I had a great trip to Switzerland. When we got to Zermatt, and the HOTEL METROPOL, we had arranged to have massages that evening. My husband, who turned 70 during our trip, had been having high blood pressure. Unfortunately, he had a Vasovagal response during the massage and passed out for a couple of minutes. An ambulance was immediately called and my husband was transported to the doctor, who gave us a clean bill of health. An episode like this is quite stressful; however, everyone working at the hotel helped to make sure we were well taken care of- not just during the episode, but during our entire stay. They continuously checked on us and made sure we were doing well. Since I didn't get my massage that evening, they made sure to get me scheduled the next night with a fabulous masseuse who knew about my previous day's stress and did everything to relieve it. The room was very spacious with a wonderful view of the Matterhorn, which I couldn't get enough of during our stay. The food was great, and the location was ideal! I am so thankful that we stayed at a location where I felt so well taken care of, especially considering our medical emergency. Lovely hotel with a lovely staff!…

We loved staying at the Metropole Hotel and Zermatt. The service at the hotel was exceptional, family run and very personal. The atmosphere was friendly, welcoming and always helpful. We were lucky to have two rooms with Matterhorn views. It was the first and last thing we saw each day - Wow! After big days of scenic and enjoyable hiking, we returned to the hotel's swimming pool and relaxed whilst gazing at the Matterhorn. This was a super special four days in Zermatt and we loved every moment at Hotel Metropole.

When we arrived in Zermatt, we found out our hotel was over booked so they upgraded us to this hotel. I was worried at first, as I paid for a room with a view of the Matterhorn at the other hotel. No problem, we still had a view and it was a beautiful view. The other hotel took care of everything for this hotel, so we didn't pay anything more then our original rate. The staff here were super friendly. The room was comfortable and clean. We only stayed 2 nights, so we never took advantage of the pool or spa. Breakfast had the usual European options, with the added bonus of a Matterhorn view. Our room was more of a suite, with a couch. We also had a balcony with a couple of chairs. There's no air conditioning, but even with the hot days, the evenings become cool and the room cooled down for sleeping. The hotel is an easy walking distance from pretty much everything in town. We had plans the morning of check out, so they were kind enough to store our bags. They also provided transport to the train station. A nice added bonus, even though the walk wasn't too far. Truly family atmosphere here with charming friendly staff who are all most helpful. Location is excellent and as others mention stunning Matterhorn views from the dining room. There is also a lovely terrace with views. Room perfect and very clean, as is the entire Hotel. Freshly cooked evening meals of a high standard.

I am not someone who typically writes reviews, however the Metropol was so differentiated that I felt I needed to this time. I truly cannot say enough good things about the Metropol. The staff were some of the most helpful and hospitable people we have ever met, going above and beyond to help answer questions, make recommendations, and ensure we had a great visit. I was genuinely sad to say goodbye to them at the end of our trip. The hotel also has it all: From the convenient ski room in the basement with ski boot warmers on the wall, to the spa area and pool, and the incredible food each morning and night. The central location also allowed us to easily walk to everything, and our rooms had everything we needed including an absolutely stunning view of the Matterhorn. Wonderful family hospitality. Great location for mountain access. Breathtaking Matterhorn views. Very clean and relaxing spa facilities. Good, comfortable rooms. Recently stayed at this lovely hotel. Excellent stay and well looked after. Dietary needs always managed. If there wasn't anything on the set menu suitable then we could choose from the a la carte at no extra. Great staff very friendly and helpful. Wonderful views from the bedroom.
