Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The hotel was okay good location, but do not pay for the breakfast. The breakfast consisted of no meat, burnt croissants, yoghurt, egg, and some lunch box sized cheese. For €15 each was absolutely not worth it, there may be better places local.

My wife, two daughters and I spent three nights at the Hotel du Marche in August. Our two rooms were clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the hotel is well located. By accident, I doubled booked - that is, booked four rooms instead of two, and did not realize the mistake until arriving. The mistake was part mine and part the hotels. The hotel willingly cancelled the extra rooms and refunded my payments for those rooms.

Room was clean and comfortable. (We had double bed with private bathroom). Parking available behind hotel. Check in closes at 8:30pm sharp. We had difficulty finding the hotel as it is on a one way street. Good location, walkable to many restaurants.

By mistake I have taken a room with a shared bathroom. To do? Adapt. They have a shower separate from the toilet, each space super small, that is, I can't imagine a fat person in those tiny spaces.

They allege that because it is a 2-star hotel, on the 4th day they clean your room. I can accept that, but in no way accept that they don't change the towels. The towels get wet and inside the closed room all the time they can't dry fast and well so they smell musty. We requested that our towels be changed for clean ones and we were unsuccessful.

The heating at night was not turned on strong enough to keep the room at a comfortable temperature.
I did not like this hotel at all.

This is a terrible place! Stuff is very rude and unwelcoming. These people shouldn’t be in the hotel business. We accidentally booked Friday night instead of Saturday night and when we called to fix the mistake they literally stole our money. It is less priced but even that price is not justified. Stay out of this hole!

I originally booked a room for three nights. My experience was so bad that I checked out after one night, knowing that I was lose my money for the remaining nights.

Problems were:
1). The horrible shared bathroom. I knew my room would have a shared bathroom, but I was not expecting the two bathrooms and one shower to be so small and shared with the entire floor of a dozen rooms. a dozen rooms, and it's so small it's nearly impossible to dress & undress in there. There are only two toilets on the hall - one on each end of the hallway. When I took a shower around 9am there were pubic hairs left all over the shower and mirror.
2) the directions from the train station to the hotel on the confirmation email were not only confusing, they were completely incorrect. The receptionist confirmed they were incorrect.
3) my room was facing the street. There is a major construction project going on across the street, which I was not told about. The noise started at 8am and went on nonstop until 4pm.

When I checked out, the receptionist couldn't have cared less about why I was checking out early.

Stayed here for 4 nights in July 2006. The hotel is basic but spotlessly clean with friendly staff at reception. It is rated as a 1star but I have stayed in much worse 3 star accommodation - there is even tea and coffee making facilities and a TV in the room. We didn't have a bathroom in our bedroom and instead shared communal ones. They needed an update and were a little shabby but nothing too bad, the shower had good water pressure and a warm water. Breakfast was nice, typical continental affair of croissants meat, yoghurt, juice and bread .

Overall I would highly recommend this place if you are on a budget but want something clean and functional. I didn't find a cheaper hotel in Lausanne.

You don't get your moneys worth here. They charged us with the city tax twice, there were insects crawling on the walls and the air conditioning was poor during one of the biggest heat waves that summer. But the lighting was good.

We booked this hotel as we could not get anywhere else near Lake Geneva at a reasonable price. The hotel itself is quite clean and well run. Lausanne however was quiet and a bit boring. The location of this hotel is close to town. However it was hard to find a lot of places to eat and there was not much to do in the town.

Overall I would recommend staying in this hotel for the price, but don't expect to be in the centre of the nightlife for this town. If you are travelling from a more exciting location e.g. in the mountains take extra time there and spend a bit longer on the train or driving to move on to the next place on your travels.

The room was spacious and the staff on duty were courteous. The location is considered acceptable with walking distance from Riponne subway station in Lausanne. The hotel also provided good information about Lausanne.

Yes they have a parking place in front, but you will need to leave your key with the reception as they will park your car sometimes in a way that it blocks the place for other cars. So they will shuffle around.
