Visited on xmas eve, amazing value for mulled cider and a mince pie for £3. Sat outside as the weather was good, but inside looked really cosy with the fire. Looks like they are putting in some decking which should be really nice looking over the river.

We just popped in for a post canal walk drink which is always a treat on a lovely day when you can sit outside in the garden which runs down to the river just at Avoncliff. It's the one time I choose a dry cider as there are usually guest ciders and beers on offer. Wonderful to have on our...

We stopped off here on our way to Bath. A pint of Tunnel Vision went well with my cheddar ploughman's. A good place to eat if you are walking or biking along the canal. It can get busy so stop in early if planning lunch.

Took a B&B weekend there first week in November this year (2016) and arriving after dark we were taken to our room/apartment which was not great but not bad either. 5 out of 10. Decided to have food in the pub that evening as finding alternative in the dark wasn't that easy. That was our worst mistake! My partner took...

I've visited this pub many times as its in a great location and perfect for a weekend day out. There is a nice walk you can do along the canal from Freshford to Bradford on Avon and this pub is the perfect midway pint stop! The pub itself is lovely and old fashioned, with lots of character and charm. There...

Will not be visiting again. Online menu has not been updated and chef very unwilling to accommodate special diet requirements. Staff abrupt and unhelpful, seemingly not to have any idea of how to liaise with paying customers. The misrepresentation of the online menu made it difficult. Such a pity because the pub is in a pretty location. The food that...

The only good thing I can say about this pub is it's set in a beautiful location by the river. I have been here a few times with friends and every time there seems to be something wrong with the place, whether it's bad food, unclean dirty cutlery/cups and some rude unfriendly staff.

We stopped on past on a narrowboat holiday. Arrived early in the evening with children and for a table in the pub which filled up quickly after a while. Selection of real ales was really good and the staff were friendly. Fabulous setting and excellent views under the aquaduct. Ordered food. Korma, fish & chips and children's lasagne was really...

I have been taking a group of current and ex-colleagues to The Cross Guns for 8 years now for our end of term canal walk and meal. This year I was somewhat apprehensive, having read recent less than complimentary reviews. These appeared to be borne out when, on arrival, we were told that we were to be seated in the...
