I've stayed in many places and always bemoan the quality of the mattress...not at the Blacksmith's Arms in Offham. Two very comfortable nights sleep. I always use pubs with rooms and this was one of the most enjoyable I've stayed at. The pub has a Caribbean flavour....Bob Marley playing on arrival and the rest of the playlist was equally good. The menu is equally Caribbean and I can recommend the pepper steak with rice and beans and the goat curry. Sussex Best on tap reminds you where you are! Room was spotless and the staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The locals were really welcoming unlike a lot of places. This place deserves to be busier...hopefully after Covid it will be.
A lovely pub with accommodation just a mile outside Lewes, Sussex. Our room was clean, comfortable and equipped with all the usual bits and pieces expected these days, flat screen tv, tea and coffee etc, and the en suite bathroom with victorian style fittings was spacious. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and there is parking at the rear though this might get a bit tricky at busy times. There was a caribbean theme to the pub and Jamaican food on the menu, which was very welcome and a lovely change from the usual offerings. We'd definitely stay here again !
I’ve eaten here a number of times and have also used the takeaway service. Meals are consistently great and it’s our venue of choice when we have people staying. I’ve not stayed here as I live locally.
Stopped off for a drink on our walk back from Lewes - excellent service, Covid-Safe with a nice relaxed atmosphere 🍻 The pub was nicely furnished, had clean toilets and the staff were excellent. Screens are up for safety and tables are placed far apart to make you feel at ease - would recommend!
In the area last weekend and a quick check on Tripadvisor prompted the visit. Service was great and the Caribbean spicing to the pan fried fish was well balanced and delicious. But, no curried goat, no dumplings, no ackee and saltfish, no plantains and not even a hint of jerk chicken. I wonder if they tried it in the past but the locals found it a bit exotic for their taste?
