This was our first staycation in more than 20 years so we chose Longnor Wood in the Peak District because we wanted to try a walking holiday. We had a lodge with a hot tub, the accommodation was excellent, enough space for the two of us and spotlessly clean. The seating/dining area, kitchen and bathroom was nicely decorated and the central heating was more than adequate for our needs. A fully equipped kitchen except there was no dishwasher. The bedroom was adeqate with a walk in closet with plenty of storage space but the bedroom lacked decent lighting. A few spotlights in the ceiling (like the lounge area) would have been a bonus only one very dim light in the ceiling and two bedside lamps..

The hot tub was a welcome bonus after a long day walking/cycling and it was completed shielded for privacy although an outside light would have been useful especially as the nights are drawing in.

Excellent location to visit all of the main places to see for example, Dovedale, Bakewell, Matlock & Buxton never more than 40 minutes drive away. There is also a well stocked Morrisons approximately 20 mins drive away.

The only very slight downside is the location - approx 1.and 1/4 mile away which is a lovely walk during the day but the roads are very dark at night with no street lights. There is an excellent pub in the village the Olde Cheshire Cheese which serves good food at a reasonable price. There is also a fish & chip shop but this does not open every night. So at times we felt a bit cut off from the rest of the world.

It is worth stocking up in the supermarket because of the location you cannot on the spur of the moment pop out for a takeaway because there aren't any close by.

Overall, we had a good break and would definitely visit again in the future but perhaps in the spring.

Lovely site set in a peaceful location close to great places to walk. We were worried re the covid situation but shouldn’t have worried as a slighter later check in meant the caravan was absolutely spotless ( and I’m fussy). The caravan had everything we needed to prepare meals and there’s an option of a takeaway delivered to the site which we used and enjoyed. Felt very safe, very good measures in place including hand sanitiser and contactless check in and check out.
We loved the hot tub was great to walk in the day and have a good soak in the evening. Adult only and you could really tell as very quiet and able to relax. The area is just beautiful and the park is spotlessly clean and well kept. Would recommend to anyone wanting a few days of peace and quiet.

We stayed in our Motorhome for a week, before and on arrival it was very clear what the guidelines were as we are only just out of lockdown. The pitch was a good size with gravel and grass. The showers were always losing pressure, out of the 7 days stay we only had 2 days of reasonable pressure. The system in place is a tag system to control the amount of people in the toilets/showers. One day I was entering and as the tag holder is high I have to step up onto the washroom step. I was immediately confronted me by an overzealous member of staff who tersely said I had to put my key on the holder. When I showed him I already had it in my hand ready there was no apology forthcoming. I complained to reception and the guy on reception was empathetic and apologised, he was very professional. The site allows friends to book pitches next door to each other, whilst we understand that as camping encourages people to be sociable, the incessant loud talking to late most evenings made it that we could not sit outside as it was really irritating. I know the site cannot monitor people on site but we booked this as it was specifically an adults only site and thought it would be peaceful and didn’t expect some of the loudness of other guests. All in all it is a lovely site, would I go back, probably not.

This place has everything. It's a dog lovers paradise, although we were just a couple looking for a relaxing break in our recently acquired motor home.
It's an adults only site, nice and peaceful in beautiful countryside.
The pitches have electric hook up, water and TV booster all in one post.
The pitches are well laid out around a central point containing a reception, shop, toilet and shower block as well as laundry room. You can borrow dvd's etc and a local pub will deliver food if required.
There is also free WiFi around this area.
There is an indoor dog wash room with warm water, and next to it a place to empty your toilet cassette and waste water tanks.
The site is secure and barrier controlled.
The measures the staff have put in place to control covid are well thought out and we felt safer here than we have anywhere else.
The staff are also very helpful.
We would stay here again without hesitation.

We stayed in the dog friendly lodge Cedar for a long weekend. It was a very tranquil, quiet place - perfect for relaxing. Even though social distancing was in place, the staff were very helpful and very polite. I feel that if social distancing wasn’t around they would try and do anything for you! We took our 5 month old puppy and we were able to use the enclosed dog walk which was brilliant after a two hour drive for her to stretch her legs. The park is situated ideally if you are interested in walking. We went to Bakewell, Dovedale and Chatsworth House - all were lovely places. We also took advantage of ordering food from ‘The Greyhound’ which was pleasant. The lodge was cleaned to a high standard and we used the hot tub every night to relax after a day out! We will definitely be back in the future for a long weekend.

Picturesque and peaceful adults only park. Staff are friendly and really helpful when you need them. We were met at our lodge by a lovely gent who made sure we knew where everything was and showed us the hot tub controls.

We stayed in Elm, which was well equipped, spacious and had tons of storage. We’ve stayed in 6-berth lodges that haven’t had as much storage as this did so we were really impressed for the amount that we had just for the 2 of us. The kitchen had everything we needed, including dish soap, bins bags and even a tea towel amongst the usual amenities that you would expect. The appliances were of a good quality and everything was easy to use.

The bedroom was spacious, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was very modern and nicely decorated. The water pressure in the shower was really good too.

We enjoyed most evenings in the hot tub as well as lounging around in front of the TV which had a good selection of channels. The hot tub was probably the nicest I’ve ever been in, we really liked that it was covered so that when it was raining we could still use the it without having freezing cold rain falling on us.

We did have an issue with hot water one morning of our stay, but after a phone call to reception, who instructed us how to reset the boiler, we had hot water again within 15 minutes. The service here really is fantastic.

We loved how peaceful the site was, both during the day and night. We saw lots of wildlife through the bedroom window on a morning and we had a few squirrels come on to the decking outside too!

We had a lovely 4 night stay here, and we can’t wait to return to Longnor Wood.

Me and my wife absolutely love it here, as always our friends at longnor wood are amazing and always are very accommodating. The park always seems to change ever time we visit from the new fencing area on the field where you enter the park, refurbished decking areas, new porch area at reception to the newly fantastic refurbished lodge that we stayed in this time ( the ivy). The lodge is finished to a really high standard and we were just blown away with how much hard work had been put into it, so much so that we have requested this lodge for our next visit. The park itself as always is extremely well kept and maintained. It really is our favourite place to stay out of all other different locations we have stayed all over the uk. Wether it be that you love the great outdoors and love hiking or just relaxing around the lodge watching all the local wildlife this really is the perfect place. We are always a little sad on checkout day but always look forward to our return. Thank you to all at longnor wood for making our stay extremely enjoyable once again. See you next time :-)

First off a tent pitch with electric hookup cost us £25/night. We were assigned tent pitch number 3, went to the pitch and asked if number 1 was available as it wasn’t on the hill and told they were fully booked (no one turned up for pitch 1 the whole time we were there).

It’s a mixed bag, nice for campers and caravans but not for tenting I feel. I got shouted at for going in the toilets because it was at capacity and was made to feel stupid even though no one else was in there.

The biggest issue was the guy on the next pitch decided to have a slash at 2.30am, pissed like a rhino and woke me up but this could happen anywhere.

Arrived approximately 5pm Friday evening. Our key was ready for us so it was straight to our lodge to unpack.
We stayed in Damson which is a deluxe lodge overlooking the woods.
Everything was immaculate with a nice welcome back card and a bottle of Prosecco chilling, a box of chocolates and some local biscuits.
Being here so many times we know what to expect in the local area…nothing but peace and quiet.
The lodge provides everything you need down to some milk in the fridge, washing up liquid, loo roll… in fact just bring your food, drink, swimsuit, towels for the hot tub and yourself.
We had messaged beforehand and asked about having a barbecue and it was waiting for us with no issues.
I love that this lodge overlooks the woods as I love sitting in the hot tub waiting for the robins to sit on the fence, rabbits running by and even cheeky squirrels. One squirrel actually sunbathed on our decking for a good half hour and didn’t budge even when I got out of the hot tub to take a photo.
Saturday we ventured into Buxton but literally a 15 minute car journey at most.
If you want a relaxing weekend with just the stars, wildlife and peace this is the place to go.
Would I return? Already booked for next year.
Thankyou to all the staff who work so hard in making this holiday park a special place.
See you Friday 20th October next year 😁

We went to this site as it wasn’t far from where we picked up our new caravan from the dealers in case there were any glitches. What a beautiful location and a spotlessly clean well maintained site. It has been twenty years since we had a tourer and this site was above our expectations. The shower facilities were immaculate and warm (we couldn’t shower due to COVID) and had a sink in each toilet cubicle. We will definitely be back here when in this area. Many thanks to the owners for putting good safety measures in place and enquiring if we were doing ok after a long absence from this type of holiday.

If they did have any cannisters it would be outside by the reception. For clarification I would ring or email the park direct to make sure.

I brought the peak district AA walks guide - this has some great walks. They all need a drive but you have to walk on a main road at 60mph with no pavement if you walk from site… Not pleasant. Most walks aren’t that far away and even longnor has free parking if your want to start there. I also brought the osmap of the area - I think it’s no 24. Longnor wood website also have loads of walks suggested on there. 😍

For others it’s only the single light logs that quality save or home bargains sell for £1. Or £1.50 on-site.
