This was my secont time in Homoki lodge, I went back because I wanted to experience the exchange in summer when it is active season. I arrived motivated and full of energy, but that started to quickly fade as I saw the way things are done and how disorganized it can be. Anyone with hands on business experience will agree that one person cannot macromanage a business, eventually something or many things will start to go terribly wrong, and you can't just continue to patch things over when broken, that is just money thrown down the toilet. The working staff is mainly made up of foreign volunteers without professional experience in the hospitality/F and B fields, but they use this workforce to cut down in salary expenses, paying them less than the official minimum wage in hungary and of course off the books, so there you have it, breaking labor and fiscal laws, aside from that, in consequence it reflects a lack of good service or bad service to the clients, and here goes the cherry on top, they claim their kitchen to be mastered by a renowned chef, which is not the case, the owner is the one doing the cooking just following recipees and advise from such chef, so the clients are being defrauded as well with missrepresentation. They are stingy and try to spend the least money possible, squeezing their volunteers to the max while receiving a miserable salary and sometimes not getting paid at all, living in not the best conditions and receiving food below the basics to say the least. They are insensitive selfish people leeching off of others as much as they can without giving much at all in return, I had never seen such level of misery in my life before!!!

Right in the middle! We spent 2 nights there at the deluxe yurt, with hidraulic bath and little private "pool". Okay i said it is very expensevie but its uniqe as well so i was looking forward to it. We arrived and checked in the lady in the reception was kind and asked if we have any allergy or what so ever. My wife is pregnant so no raw meet and i have egg white allergy, she wrote down everything than show us to our yurt. This is a yurt so no big magic in it, bad, sofa, bath, toilet end of yurt. I thought its bigger but its okay for 2 nights its perfect. Than things start to come up... 3 course dinner for 12.000.- huf/ person... Whaaaat? And no option to choose.. Only for the main course but no a la carte. That was my first dissapontment. I love fine dining, but this is over priced, and there was no option for 2 course or only main. Than we found a little sign in the room, u cant eat and drink your own stuff... Whaaaaat? I am in the middle of nowhere with my prengnant wife and they cant provide me 0-24 food supply but if i eat my snack they fine me 25-125€. Is this a joke? Massage for 25.000.- HUF, 20 mintues from there by car and i will have the same massage for 10k HUF. So first night we ride out for dinner it was pretty good and not even 10k for both :) 2. Day first breakfast that plate was a dissapointment also a fix something we had more less the same breakfast for the two morning. On the plate boild egg (egg allergy), smoked pork ham (pregnant wife) and raw bacon (pregnant wife). It was tasty but why did asked me the day before if they dont care? 2. Day started with a dissapointment but i thought okay there was a hot tube i will ask for it and i can relax the rest of the day. Of course we have a hot tube 14.000.-HUF / 1.5 hour... Whaaaaat? I paid 180.000.- HUF for the 2 night and i cant use the hot tube for free???? Come on guys. There are so many rules there that i could even enjoy my self at all. And rules means u have to pay for everything i mean for everything. And the icing on the cake is that the tap water is thermal water so dont drink it, but u cant drink you own. The environment is amazing, but for that you can just visit farm. I told this to the owner and he told me we will get some diacount for the next time and he send it via email but nothing so far. Also there ia no chance i will go back there and i am not looking for any payback, i Just wanted to tell you guys. Last advise bring spare shoes as the palce is muddy all over. Thanks for reading it.

You would not expect such a wonderful in the middle of Nowhere, after heading a few km through forest roads and field roads. Beautiful luxury yurt accommodations where we stayed for two nights, sleeping under the stars looking through out a glas dome. Two nights in the Pool Suite, a little spacious house by itself with a wonderful terrace, being part of the traditional farm estate, renovated authentic, with lots of beautiful details, very good taste, equipped with all luxury wanted. We had a great riding experience one afternoon, an exciting 2hours Jeep tour guided by the owner itself, great time at the pool with lounge music and a pool bar and the highlights every evening were fantastic dinners at the Fine Dine restaurant. Chilling, activities, luxury comfort, very friendly staff, great food.... A fantastic time!!

We have been at Homoki Lodge for a week and just felt to give feedback. The holiday was amazing! Horse riding to the top with long trots, canters and gallops, even more than I could have imagined. Horses were very fit and well cared for and very predictable nothing scared them. The Homoki Lodge team made us feel welcome, introducing us to Hungarian culture away from the city and the locals were so friendly and arm towards us. I have to mention, that there was so delicate food for all meals and the Hungarian handcrafted beer is remarkably rich in taste. We loved the outstanding accommodations of the yurts and the resort is a hidden gem far apart from this hectic world. I would recommend this holiday to everyone who is open to nature experiences and I hope one day I can return for another unforgettable holiday.

We have been traveling to Szeged for a sport competition with a group of 14 people and stayed at the lodge for a week. The team was very flexible and helpful with all our special wishes. Especially in organizations our transfer to the races. We enjoyed as well the divers dinners.

Outrageous prices for a regular service (e.g. 6€ for a litre of water, 4'80€ for a beer), every little thing has to be payed extra (even eggs are not included in the "traditional hungarian breakfast"). Expensive menu that leaves you hungry; not what you would expect comming back tired from a horseback riding tour. I asked for a second serving, which in turn costed 15€ extra. I have been sitting on the horse since before I could walk and also worked as a riding guide on several farms. The horses we tried in Homoki Lodge were stuborn, unsensitive and very uncomfortable from beeing used so much by unexperienced tourists. We are experiencied riders and payed for a weeklong riding programm, but left after 4 days, because we couldn't take it anymore. The austrian hosts didn't seem to be interested in our wellbeing, the main interest was getting out as much money as possible from us guests.

During my 5 day stay, I stayed in one of the yurts, and in one of the rooms. Both had the best matras I ever slept on in a hotel, which is a big plus. Both rooms were clean, and really comfortable with all a person can wish for. The food was amazing as well and all staff was friendly and helpfull at all times. I was travelling alone, but never felt alone or left out, also thanks to the staff who always took their time to ask how my ride or how my day was. But I guess best were the horseback riding tours. Over the days I did ride on four different horses, all sensitive to the rider, all well behaving and all fast ( and then there were a bunch of them with two extra gears). All tack is well taken care of and it was a blast to ride with Oliver and hear about history of the region. So if you are looking for a great horseback riding trip off the beaten path just give Homoki lodge a chance, you won’t be dissepointed 😊

I spent five days at this wonderful lodge and I will remember them for the rest of my life. I arrived late a night to an incredibly delicious dinner served outside on the terrace, surrounded by horses, visited by a friendly kitten, and in the company of the charming proprietors. From there, the magic increased. Every morning I wandered from my private, carefully curated suite, to the main lodge for a healthy, fresh breakfast. Then I'd ride out on a beautiful horse with my capable guide through forest and field, stopping for lunch in a small town. Returning to the lodge there would be a cold beer, hot bath and a gathering of farm animals that would have impressed even Beatrix Potter. Guests would gather for pre-dinner cocktails, and by the time dinner was over, we would be laughing and sharing stories well into the evening. Homoki Lodge is an absolute gem, and you are lucky to find it. I can't wait to return.
