I was visiting the NHL University for a conference and stayed on site at this student staffed hotel. The students take great pride in all aspects from check in to room service. Rooms are decent with everything controlled through the television. There is a strong emphasis on sustainability resulting in tiny packets of soap, but there are several so this is fine. One point they could consider is to provide hair shampoo and shower gel (I used my own).
Breakfast in the restaurant attached to the university was excellent and a real strength. Unusually, breakfast was not a buffet. Instead you are brought an individual,generous plate of ham and cheese,fresh bread and croissant with jam. Additionally you can order up freshly cooked eggs.
The students seem to take pride in their service and work hard to satisfy their guests, presumably because they are being assessed on it.
Overall, a very positive experience

Oasis of peace and professionalism. The latter although the servicing is done by Hotel Management students. Modern and comfortable, equipped with home automation and all kinds of electronic gadgets.
Good location and access, individual well-organized breakfast with numerous choices.
The associated restaurant Wannee is a breath of refinement and culinary pleasure. The set menu is a creative journey of discovery, grand in its simplicity and perfect taste. Really enjoy.

Positive: neat, clean and modern furnished rooms. Free bottle of water. Price/quality breakfast. Free parking and charging options electric car (paid).
Negative: We were locked out of our room 4 times because the pass no longer worked. We didn't get the idea the reception wanted to fix the issue any more than providing a new card. Of course I don't know if she reported it to IT but I didn't get the idea she was going to.
iPad control of curtains and lamps only worked partly, switching the lamps on 1 by 1 was possible, off only all at once. I love gadgets but only if they actually work and makes life easier, not harder. Staff is reasonably friendly but very young (which is to be expected at an hotel like this) however with very limited guidance. Funny example: In the bar I asked the grape used in the dry white house wine. The barkeeper had to check (no problem) and then told me it is a shiraz cabernet sauvignon......... We had a chuckle ;-) Breakfast is very good and the service is friendly, only to bad not all fruit in the fruit salad was ready to eat. No biggie but also an easy fix and one you should notice when preparing the fruit. Breakfast is until 11 am, but at 11 am the access to your room is locked which means you can't even get your bags. I totally understand that check-out is at 11am, but if you also offer breakfast til 11am, don't lock the door precisely at 11:00am. That's just rude.
So over all is wasn't bad at all but there where al lot of things that just weren't good enough (more than written here). If you ask 150€ per night for a hotel that has a 15min walk to the city the center, is in a school (so ambiance isn't great to start with) you really have to do better than this. Or, ask 100euro's a night and you would totally get a positive review!
One last thing: At check-out we were asked if we had a good stay. We said not really and started to name some examples, but the lady interrupted us, as she went on and looked at her screen, with an 'oh too bad'. Only ask if you really want to know…!

The courtesy bathing soap and shampoo in solid form are not so friendly use as the traditional liquid/gel type. I prefer the last ones. A free parking ticket could be supplied , so not to have to ask continuously for entry with the car.

We stayed at the Notiz hotel for one night. The crew was very nice and welcoming and the rooms were clean. The location is close to the city center, so you can walk of rent a bike at the hotel to see the beautiful city of Leeuwarden.

Was there for a business travel. Arrived very late, but experience a customer service, which was second to none for me.
As the room was shown to me, they realized that the room service was not done yet, and before I was realizing it they provided me an upgrade.

The Notiz hotel offers a great leisure and busines experience. Being an old Student of the Hotelschool in Leeuwarden, I can see times are changing and the hotel is fully equiped with the newest IT and service possibilities. In-room enterainment is great, design is up to the current standards and in the sme style with the Wannee restaurant. Eventhough the Notiz is run by students, the level of service is much higher then your average hotel.

What a wonderful experience in the hotel school hotel. Warm welcome by friendly employees at the front office. Modern yet attractive lobby with small snack and drinks corner. Rooms spacious, clean and fully equipped. Coffee and tea available. The shampoo and shower products were in tablet form. We found that less practical, but sustainable. Delicious chocolate is ready when you return in the evening. Breakfast in the restaurant Wannee is definitely recommended. Extensive, freshly prepared and can be chosen from the menu. We have received a very warm welcome. And the rooms were very clean. The students were very have to welcome us. We had breakfast at or room that was a bitt to much, so maybe ask what the guest want that you do not have waste. The kids The kids found it absolutely great there own room! The only thing is that the door in the middle from the family room could not secure. Once again thank you so much and up to better times! And we really like the part sustainability!
