I stayed here for one night with my daughter. Check in was difficult, we went to hotel de kroon walked all round it then found we have to check in at guesthouse hotel next door. The sign was not immediately visible in the dark. Then to walk back to hotel de kroon with our luggage this all seemed a hassle at the time due to late night and very tired. We were given a much bigger room than the one we booked which was great. The bed was big and comfortable and there were two pull out beds for kids. The room was clean and stylish. Efteling ten minutes walk away. Hairdryer didn’t work but after two phone calls to reception at my own expense a replacement was provided. Also no remote control, eventually one was provided as we were nearly ready to leave. The bathroom was excellent with great shower. We didn’t buy the breakfast as 11 euro each person is too expensive especially for a 6 year old- she will only want a tiny meal. In general we were very happy with the room. To suggest improvement- It would be good to have a coffee maker in the room. Otherwise the room was great and we would stay again.

We stayed on the economy hotel side. Comfy beds, clean rooms. Friendly & attentive staff, great with kids, lots of kid friendly activities in the restaurant. Good food. Conveniently close to Efteling, only 7 mins walk, also has deals which include stay with entry to Efteling. The only suggestion I’ll make is to have tea making facilities in the budget hotel rooms. Recommend stay.

It was great. I really enjoyed the location. The is fine, no need in larger room.
In reception we were told that their service includes cleaning the room and we can give it up. We have got free breakfast instead of cleaning.

Hotel De Kroon is more like a hostel. There are no staff available at this hotel as all the staff are based at the GuestHouse Kaatsheuvel next door. The walls and floors are very thin so you can hear everything that goes on in the building making it difficult to sleep. There was also something wrong with the plumbing system or pipes, as every time someone had a shower in a room nearby, a loud drilling/heavy machinery type of noise was being made. Furthermore, our room was very cold upon arrival and throughout the first night, although the heater was on it did not seem to be working. The windows are single glazed which does not help with the temperature or noise. The lights in the room were very dim and one near to the TV did not work.
The safe in the room also did not work and the instructions on the table did not match up to what the safe looked like. For example, it said to press the red button to start but the safe had no such button. We made a complaint to the staff at the reception at GuestHouse and requested that we moved into the nicer side of the hotel, but this was declined as they were fully booked. The receptionist also mentioned we could text a number which was on the wall in the room to share our concerns but there were so many things wrong we did not know where to start.

Please be aware that Hotel De Kroon and GuestHouse Kaatsheuvel are two separate buildings, however you will need to check in at the much nicer GuestHouse before making a short walk to the Hotel De Kroon next door.

A good location as it is a short walk to Efteling but an all round poor experience.
I would most certainly recommend paying the extra to stay at the GuestHouse rather than Hotel De Kroon as it is a much nicer building with a lot better facilities. Please don’t stay at Hotel De Kroon to avoid disappointment.

I stayed for a total of 3 days in Hotel De Kroon, a friend of mine for one night.
We booked 2 single rooms, but both of them had some problems.

First the positive:
The location is great and the staff is really friendly. Efteling is just a few minutes away and a supermarket is right next door. The rooms weren't really dirty, and a tv is included. The interior is nice as well.

But there was a lot of bad stuff which shouldn't be there at that price point.
The biggest problem was the oldness of the rooms. Some light fixtures were coming off, a chair was broken and not safe to sit on, and in one of the rooms, the light bulb and glass shelf of the mirror were missing.
The worst thing about the oldness is the lack of air conditioning. Yes, we had the hottest days of the whole year, but the rooms and even the floors got warmed up so fast, that there wasn't any chance of cooling the room itself down. There was a ceiling fan, which helped partly, but it was a bit noisy and wasn't centred over the bed, it was centred in the room, so I had a few sleepless nights.
The supermarket next door saved my stay with cold drinks and vegetables, but I bought a bar of chocolate in the evening and it turned itself into chocolate milk overnight. I know that air conditioning is expensive and not eco-friendly, but at least include a mini fridge in the room, which can be plugged off if it is not in use. Space for it is there, and it wouldn't be that expensive.
Another annoying thing is that the beds are on rolls without breaks. The single room includes two, which were moving independently from each other. In a bigger room, this would make sense. But in this small room, it was only annoying. Mattresses were moving around, the beds themselves got separated so it was uncomfortable moving between the two sides, and items fell between the beds. One single bed would be enough, and there would be the added benefit of some more space in the room!

I've definitely seen worse hotels, but for this price, I expect a bit more. Unless they renovate the place, include a fridge, or lower the prices I won't come back to this hotel if I stay alone. I don't know anything about the quality of the other rooms, especially the newer ones, but I can't recommend the single ones at all. I would rather look for a cheaper hotel and travel by bus.

My and my friend booked this hotel in combination with the Eftelingpackage and tbh, just went with what was cheapest. And for that I can't exactly complain. It was clean, it's close to the park, everything you need is around the corner etc.

BUT. It was weird to have no stuff in the house, as everything is operated from the hotel next to De Kroon. Also, I am not 100% convinced that your luggage is safe in the luggage room, the staff doesn't seem to check if you closed the room properly, not to mention that they didn't even check if we're actually hotel guests when we wanted to pick up our luggage. We could have been anybody.

Luckily for us, we had a room for 4 people, so we had enough space for us, but the pure thought of sharing the room with more people is giving me nightmares, especially as the window is suuuper small. With 32° celsius during the day, I had extreme trouble falling asleep. The air was just horrible, with more people in our room I would have just died.

I realized through the online check-out, that we got charged breakfast for both days. I admit that I could have realized that while paying, but I didn't do the math at that point, I was busy with just arriving there. Luckily I realized that early enough to make use of that, tho I advise people staying there to just get breakfast in Albert Heijn just around the corner and eat in the hotel lobby of de Kroon. The hotel breakfast was okay but a tad expensive for what you get.

I would do it again as I love Efteling very much, but I know that non-Fans might have their trouble here.

We had 2 double rooms and the double room for the kids was as hot as an oven. The fan didn’t work well, it was on its lowest speed...you couldn’t change the speed. I think it’s wise to make sure that your rooms are cool for your guests to sleep and relax after a hot day out by the Efteling when you have temperatures above the 30 degrees.
We found long hairs in the shower and on the beds… the beds where too soft for the body, had terrible body pains. It was a nightmare in the morning to find a free table in the restaurant because it was so busy

We stayed for 2 nights so that we could visit the theme park Efteling. The hotel has great facilities and lovely staff. We stayed in the guest house part and the room was a lovely size with the added bonus of a private patio to use. The main hotel on the other side of the car park was a short walk for the main amenities
Would definitely stay again

Stayed for 2 nights to visit Eftelling park, which is an easy 15 minute walk to the entrance gate.

The hotel is associated the the Guesthouse Hotel Kaatsheuvel, which is clearly better accommodation and is where breakfast is taken and an evening meal possible.

The room was quite nice, and clean but very small. We went for the room with 2 pull out beds beneath the main bed so we expected a little bit of a big room to accommodate this but it wasn't to be.

Breakfast was good but quite expensive for what was available.

Would probably look for a different hotel if we return to Kaatsheuvel.

Family friendly place - if you wish an easy solution when visiting Efteling.
Breakfast is a bit chaotic. Always something missing and you need to ask for a bowl or a spoon etc. Rooms are small. Just a place to sleep.
I can recommend it if you go to Efteling. Otherwise, not really.
