The room was very clean and all was in order apart from a lumpy uncomfortable mattress.
The staff were very kind and gave us extra pillows and towels. Regarding Covid 19 precautions, the staff were behind screens at reception so no problem. However, most of the other guess were not wearing face coverings and so it was quite stressful to be in public areas.

I often stay in Tilburg because of my work, I stay here frequently also with my wife.

I / We love the Bastion Tilburg again and again.
The Staff are so friendly and attentive, that can never do enough for you. Nothing is a problem.

I’ve seen a lot of changes in staff over the last 4 years but, they are always great ( a special thank you to Lieke and Robyn). Currently Ban has been looking after us and he is a great flagship to the Bastion name, unfortunately he heard today that he may lose his job due to the Covid 19. A great loss to the Bastion and also to us the customers 😔

Hard times I know. But you guys and girls do the Bastion a great service. Keep it up.

Receptionist was rude when we asked to switch rooms because in our 1st assigned room the toilet was broken,to which she replied "well you can still use it", when we insisted on a new room, she was very passive agressive.

We didn't get breakfast because that was WAY too expensive for just one time.

Room was okay. Clean enough & we got a good night's sleep but would not recommend.

30 minute walk to the city center.

A big NO to this hotel with understanding that you are booking a budget hotel: the alarm system of hotel rang 2:30 am on 24 december 2022 for NO reason. We went down, tired and frustrated at night, and finally the caretaker who showed up said nothing was happening, and apparently according to them?? somebody smoked inside his room. NO verbal apologies, no compensations, no discounts ( breakfast vouchers) NOTHING! The whole my life have not seen such an unfriendly customer service hotel in the Netherlands. The expat kitchen /receptionist stuff who could not speak Dutch, but some broken English also did not ask us how our stay was or if we pleased was with their service. We explained what happened, but instead she mumbled a bit. Later I asked to talk to the manager if possible, she said the manger was not available.
Other issues: Cleanness: poor. Infront of where the bic row was, just in front of inertance lots of garbage carried away by wind. The same with under beds lots of stuffs and old broken battery...! the terrace ahead of where Bastion name was installed, all were so dirty as if ages not cleaned. One light bulb was broken so our room was darker, the tv remote was not working good, no tissues available at room, no extra towel for the shower ground so you had to use the same towel for the ground while out the douch. The douch pipe was broken and spreading water everywhere. No extra pillows if you wanted to have more higher support while sleeping. You see, these details that you think upon what level why are they so extremally economizing and messy ignorant with?? All in all NO and suggest you also to not.

After check in, with room still to prepare, we returned to the hotel at 1.30. The room was not yet prepared. The receptionist, rude, boastful, arrogant and sloppy, threw the sheets in our hands, saying that it was not his job to solve the problem and that we should prepare the beds ourselves.
Another 10 minutes to get towels. We were offered breakfast by the morning receptionist.

Stayed for 1 night as part of a business trip. The hotel is located a few minutes by taxi away from the town centre, next to a busy road and without any real facilities within walking distance. Location apart, the room was comfy and warm, but not the biggest nor the best equipped. Perfectly fine for sleeping in though!

The bar area was quite nice though, and having the free pool table was a definite plus-point.

Check in was easy. Room was clean although it needed dusting properly around the lamp holders.
Beds comfortable but we had to request two more pillows as we had one pillow each which were almost flat. These were brought to our room within 10/15 mins.
Cheap looking tiny shampoos no conditioner in bathroom. Cheap clear plastic cups to rinse mouth out or to hold toothbrushes.
Coffee maker with 2 pods. No faculty to make Tea. 2 small water bottles provided to drink or use in machine.

We wouldn't choose this hotel again as it felt very cheap, cost cutting & basic compared with the hotel we used for the next night in our journey. Both were in a similar price bracket.

Stayed here for an event at Tilburg Uni. It’s fairly utilitarian and about a 15 EURO taxi ride from the station and only a few minutes or 25 EURO ride to the university. Ensure the metre is on as Dutch taxis seem fond of finding excuses for not using the metre with weary out of town travellers. Breakfast is super basic - some hard bread, cheese and fried eggs are on offer. I chose to eat outside instead. Also the rooms have two small beds rather than one large. Rooms have little soundproofing and you can hear furniture scraping all night. You’re welcome.

We stayed here for 4 nights. Hotel property is not far from Tilburg Central, short walk or 2-3 bus stops. Bus connections are not frequent and might need some planning. Hotel is good, rooms are good sized and has all that one needs. Restaurant is also good, people are friendly and good. Internet was weak, maybe because we were at the end of the corridor. Value for money.

Stayed 4 nights here and was really disappointed by their service. Folk at reception were pleasant enough, but a real lack of interest in resolving issues

- 4 nights without any real housekeeping.
- Issues in the room which they did not attempt to resolve
- When I asked for real milk for my coffee they said they didn't have any, I subsequently found it myself right beside reception.
- Didnt cater for anyone with allergies
- Ordered a waffle which had the long strands of hair in it.
- Ordered a beer that was totally flat, when I told them about it, they done nothing.
-

Asked reception as soon as we got to the room to fix the phone which they assured me they would do. This turned out to be a lie, and despite repeated attempts to have them fix it, they simply continued to lie. There was no effort made to fix the phone. When asking about it on the last day, the woman at the reception actually had the audacity to laugh and say 'Sure' like we both thought it was some kind of funny joke that they weren't doing anything about it.

The same can be said of the WiFi which was really slow - no attempt made to improve or resolve the issue.

Generally there was just a complete lack of hospitality

"The electricity stopped working in my room on the last night of my stay. When I checked out in the morning, I asked to use a hair dryer but was not accommodated by the staff. Another guest let me use their room to finish getting ready for the day. The desk clerk said he would check it. He asked if I used the key card properly in the holder next to the door, which I had. "
