I stayed here while visiting the university, which is at walking distance. The room was nice and clean and had all the requirements for an business trip. The staff was very friendly. The hotel is located next to the forest which is nice for a early morning walk or run. The breakfast a good with fresh products and real fresh orange juice (you don't find that that often anymore). They adapted nicely to the Covid guidelines.

A very cosy, clean and functional boutique hotel, set in the outskirts of Tilburg, next to a wonderful forest with magnificent walks.
The hotel boasts a nice restaurant (with a Michelin mention) offering a limited but sumptuous menu. Service is good and courteous

The room is well appointed and comfortable. Good wifi, good shower, good bed.
Excellent breakfast in a bright and well-designed room.
The hotel is a mixture of charme and modern features, and is located on the edge of beautiful park/forest, with the main campus of the University just a short walk away.
I stayed only one night for business and would be happy to stay here again.

The hotel and restaurant are next to a busy highway so outside dining or spending time on your room's patio/balcony is permeated by constant traffic noise. The forested park to the rear is more peaceful. I found the restaurant's outside chairs to be excruciatingly uncomfortable - very narrow and they left red welts on my legs that lasted for hours. The inside chairs were fine. The breakfast buffet was disappointing with few hot food choices, and was pretty bland and flavorless. The room was comfortable but not "extra" in any way. Overall our stay was just okay.

My daughter and iI havebeen here for a week in the studios. We have a week to go and wich it were longer. The hotel is well kept and the staff kind, When my daughter spoke to loud and interrupted they took me aside to talk about it, they did not embarass or get mad at her. It was thoughtful. The room is large and the beds comfortable. The porch is cozy and beautiful. The breakfast is in the restaurant and everything was fresh and good. More for a meat eater than a vegitarian but a nice soread. The room service food is not chap, but it is beyond excellent. Ingredients are fresh and everything cooked to perfection. The only odd thing is that there is no dresser in the rooms, but it is a small matter. The bathrooms are less fancy than the rooms but spotlessly clean and very functional. It has beed raining alot but the grounds here are beautiful
At first the location felt isolated but its only a 17 minute walk to the university statio. And the campus has less formal dining options.
This place makes me feel calmer than anyplace on earth, its a winner on all levels, i am surprised they are not charging three hundred a night. If i ever have a romantic get away again i would want it o be here

This was my 4th time staying in Auberge Du Bonheur but first after the renovation of hotel rooms. Sure, they look great and fancy but the rooms became much less practical for traveler, or at least for me. There is no cloth closet anymore, hence no place to put my cloths. Before there were nice drawers, small but practical closet. Now you can just hang cloths in open space and no drawers at all. Beds are fantastic. New bathroom is nice but for average woman like me the sink is MUCH TOO high! It was very difficult to even wash my hands. I stayed at the ground floor and I was suffocating at night, since I could not open the window. There is no window anymore, only a door to a garden. Nice, but when sleeping alone I did not dare to open them for the whole night. Thanks God the temperature in April is still comfortable but I can't imagine sleeping the in the summer heat without ariconditionig. In summary, room and its facility is OK for single traveler but for 2 people is just not good enough anymore.

I am sure that this is one of the better hotels in Tilburg and I have no complaints about the room (fairly big), bed, location (nice and peaceful), and breakfast. However, I would expect a 4 star hotel to be consistently excellent in service and quality.

There are several things that detracted from my visit:
Although clean, the bathroom is quite dated with rusty towel radiator and oldish suite. Also:
* Shower floor very slippery, especially when rinsing hair etc.
* No proper toiletries, only a pump flacon of the type one sees in motels.
* No space to put one's own toiletries either in the shower room or above the washbasin (shelf below basin is not very practical)
* Shower had very weak water pressure and occasional cold snaps
* Towels were very rough, I understand wanting to be environmentally conscious, but in a hotel one expects soft towels
* The wastebin in the bathroom was broken and both wastebins were very small, barely big enough for a softdrink bottle.

The do not disturb tag was missing in my room, so I put a handmade sign out, so I could sleep peacefully. As a result my room wasn't cleaned, even though I left it at 10.45 and only came back at 19.00. I read later that this is their system of saying that you do not want your room cleaned, but that's not what I am used to in other hotels, where cleaners simply wait until the sign has been removed.

Not a big issue though as I don't need my room cleaned every day, but I did want some new coffee. Asked at reception and was promised to get some, but it never came. I was also called for a taxi that wasn't mine and given directions for car travel to the university whilst I had specifically said I wanted to walk through the woods. Generally not impressed with the staff, except for the (pregnant) lady at check-out who was very friendly.

As I said breakfast was good, but not excellent, scrambled eggs were dry, seemed powder egg and the smoked salmon tasteless. At my table a 10cm strip of the plastic fineer strip at the side of the table was hanging loose.

Overall not terribly impressed. That said it is handy for the university and I had a good night's sleep.

So firstly, a few things about why I rated this 3 star. The majority (although few) who reviewed gave it very good to excellent. For me, however, this did not tick a number of boxes. First and the worst part is the location. The only reason to stay in this hotel is if you have to be at Tilburg University. Otherwise, the location is horrible and not close to any public transport. The train that goes to Tilburg University is still a good long 15-20 minute walk. Bus 4 runs far past the entrance so if you take it, you end up a long walk back. A taxi from Central station (forget about getting one near Unv Station) is about 15-18 Euro. The hotel itself is small but unlike the other reviewer, for me it was not quiet. I am in a room on the first floor and it is noisy as the room faces a car park and a the side road is busy. The rooms themselves are fine. Nice touches on the toiletries and beds are comfortable, good wi-fi, safe and fridge. Size is adequate. I am not paying for this visit (guest of the University) but i understand it is a bit on the expensive side so again, just not sure I would do this again if I was paying. Moreover, there is nothing around here. You are trapped into either bringing back your own food or eating in their ridiculously expensive restaurant that has limited choice. It may well be good (I only had a drink at the bar) but when you are traveling, you want to be able to eat at the hotel and not have to do formal dining or expensive dining. Lobby area is small and really just a small sitting area so not common areas. Finally, the rooms have wooden like floors so if you are unfortunate enough to be on the ground floor with someone wearing heels on the 1st, you will hear them….My suggestion is that even if you have to be at the University, stay in touch and take the train in. Really, it is not inconvenient and much more to do in the evenings.
