Uniquely decorated rooms in a lovely quiet leafy area close to restaurants and bars. Staff were friendly and helpful. Travelled with my daughter to visit some of the museums and soak up the delightful Amsterdam atmosphere. About 10 -15 minutes walk to the canal ring but there are plenty of cafes , bars etc on the way. We had a... More

The hotel is ok, but nothing fancy. We stayed 4 nights. The hotel seems to have a problem with fire alarm system. It went on 2 times during the nights... When it happens in the middle of the night you would like to know what is going on, but staff of the hotel didn't give us any information what was... More

It's a lovely place with lots of character. Our room was on the top floor. Huge. Strangely appointed but still very comfortable, especially the bed. The stairs are a problem after a long haul flight and several cases. It's very difficult to carry them up and a little dangerous too. I wouldn't recommend it to my parents as they'd never... More

We booked our stay during the ADE conference, which meant that getting rooms was difficult. So we were well pleased when we booked what turned out to be a spacious room on an upper floor apartment (#11), with a large bed, a living area and an immense bathroom. The trouble was, to access it, you had to climb four flights... More

Quirky themed hotel with staff who could not have been more friendly or helpful. Lovely little garden to sit in plus small bar in reception area to relax in. However, bedrooms small with uncomfortable beds which do not give a good night's sleep & are in dire need of replacing. Lots of areas needing a refresh of the paintwork. Buffet... More

With the thousands of hotels available in Amsterdam, our main goals were nice neighborhood, convenience in walking about, attractive, clean, & affordable price. The Filosoof at Vondelstraat 6 was all of the above. Located in the Theater District, you can walk to the canals, shopping & lots of excellent restaurants. The tram line was less than a block from the... More

We stayed for one night on a suite room 115 in th annex. We were here purely for a fault in our stars experience with our 11 year old daughter . Whilst initially hard to find following a late flight the staff could not have not have beenore welcoming carrying out bags up the steep stairs but the room was... More

This place has a huge personality. I never felt like wishing to stay forever in a hotel room as in this place. It is not a luxury hotel, but it is unique. I was really really surprised when I entered my room. I had a nice view to the park, there were a lot of quotes on the wall, books... More

We stayed 2 nights. The first night unfortunately was in a basement room in a building across the street. I felt like we were in a college dorm: hard tile floors, noisy hallways, cold floors and bad windows. Fortunately, on the second night we got a room in the main building and it was a huge upgrade. Very pleasant staff... More
