My apologies for being so late with my review, but that does not take away from our enthusiasm for Janneke's hospitality as well as the comfort of the spacious blue room and and a spotlessly clean private bath on the top floor. Her breakfasts were filling and delicious. The purpose of our stay was to visit museums, and we were...

Very nice B&B!! The house is very well placed, with kind pleople, an excellent room and breakfast...The only thing I didn´t like is the bathroom, that is quite big and nice, but is out of the bedroom, and is not very practical. Very quite place and veru near to a fantastic public bus to the airport.

I came across B&B Alexander on the Amsterdam B&B Association website. The location is excellent. Het Concertgebouw is right in the backyard and all the action (queues of patrons, orchestra movers, etc.) happening around there daily was very exciting for a performing arts fan like me. And there's Museumplein right across the road, where the van Gogh museum, Rijksmuseum and...

This B&B was a wonderful find. Perfectly located for many of the city's museums, especially the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh museum. Janneke was a wonderful hostess, very helpful and pleasant. The room we had (the red room) was vast. The bathroom was not en suite but this was not a problem at all. The shared kitchen was very handy...

Good place very near Consertgebouw and Museumplein. Janneke is a very good host, everithing was perfect! Ofcourse there are the for Amsterdam well-known steep stairs. But we 62 and 63 managed this without problems. The breakfast was great! Bus 197 from Schiphol Airport is stopping in front of Concertgebouw at the De Lairessestraat.

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.

“This apartment on the top floor is best suited for those who travel light, as those staircases are incredibly steep. Another apartment is located on lower floor, which should be requested if you travel with larger luggage.”
