I went to amsterdam looking for a relaxing trip, the hotel location isn't in the middle of the centre with all the buzz and lots of people walking around, which I loved. Although, it's a 7 min bike riding. The hotel offers bikes to rent and you can ride to the centre, the museums around or parks. At night, the...

The hotels was just a bit too far from the centre for a comfortable walk at the end of the day. The rooms clean and comfortable but could do with refreshing and a bit more care. There are some lovely cafes near by too and we slept well.

We booked this hotel as we wanted to be just out of town and also close to the great Vondelpark. The Memphis is in a great location with a 5 min walk to Vondelpark, past nice cafes on tree-lined streets and upmarket restaurants. It is also a 15-20 min walk to the museum district. The tram route 16 runs on...

Clean & Friendly hotel in nice part of Amsterdam! Not to far from the city, just a 10 min tram ride on the #16. A 5 min walk to Museumplien. Safe area... Vondelpark and Van Gogh Museum are very close...enjoy your stay, I sure did!

If you are looking for a hotel to use as a base to sleep and wash etc that is within walking distance to Dam square that is reasonably priced and clean then this the Memphis will serve you well. We chose the Memphis as the hotels in the centre were pretty pricey. Althought the Memphis is not in the centre...

We have just spent 6 days at the Memphis Hotel. The best thing about this hotel is its location, just a short walk from the Vondelpark and the Van Gogh museum. The transport links were excellent too. The hotel itself is comfortable and clean, the staff were very helpful. In comparison with other hotels we've stayed in I wouldn't say...

We enjoyed our stay here. The room was very good size, the bathroom was nice, and included free wifi. The breakfast was nice and robust - eggs, meat, bread, cheese, yogurt, cereal, fruit, etc... The location was perfect for us. Close enough to hop on the tram or ride a bike to busy downtown area/tourist attractions but in a quieter...

I stayed here with my boyfriend for 3 nights at the end of July and really liked it. Location is fantastic just 5mins walk to Museumplein and 2mins to the NO.16 tram which takes you to or near any of the main tourist spots. I had booked a regular double/twin room and I'm pretty sure I must have been upgraded...

We stayed here for 2 nights in June and really enjoyed our stay. We arrived much before check in but our room was ready so we could drop off our stuff, freshen up and start our holiday and equally on the day of departure we were able to leave our cases to enjoy our last day. Very good service, the...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
