We completed 7 days on bicycles and wanted to relax and explore Amsterdam. The hotel's staff, quality and location really fit our needs. The front desk staff we're especially helpful with dining recommendations and site seeing directions.

I have just returned from a 4 night stay here in the Hotel Citadel. This is a lovely quiet, clean and very central Hotel. About 10 minute walk from Grand Central Station and 5 minute walk from Dam Square. The staff are very helpful and polite. Breakfast is lovely, cereals, bread, rolls, croissants, cheese, ham, scrambled eggs and boiled eggs,...

Hotel is centrally located, next to old town (all Amsterdam is one big old town), next to canals, etc. Rooms are tiny, especially the singles. Also, street side might be noisy. If that does not bother you, a great place for a city break

The staff is very nice, the situation is perfect, breakfast very good and my god the bed was truly amazing! We were four people with two bedrooms and it was my fourth time in this beautiful city. My best place in Amsterdam ! Thank you!

Good location in the city but was disappointed with the rooms.. We were on the top floor in room 72 (at the front of the hotel) and our friends were next door in room 74 (back of the hotel).. Our room was really cramped, and not even enough room for a wardrobe!. just a couple of shelves in a tall...

Best parts of Hotel Citadel are the location and the breakfast. Bathroom was tiny, but except for that the room was ok. Nice bed and clean room. The rooms on the front side have a view of the street, but are a bit noisy.

Beautifully renewed rooms, very clean and friendly service. However, I had a room at the street side and as from 4AM, I had the feeling that trams and ambulances were passing through my room. Certainly ask for a room at the back side (even if the view is less nice). Breakfast is simple but tasteful, offering great fresh espresso.

Staying in Centrum

Neighbourhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
