I have stayed here 3 times, once on a birthday weekend, once on a passing visit and again last year! The area is terrible, your surrounded by basic brits! everyone is either on a stag do, come to sleep with prostitutes, or to smoke weed in one of the many cafes! This is not the real holland or Netherlands and is basically a circus for students on gap years! Each time I stayed here was because my friends had already booked it and I was too drunk to notice the state of the place ! shame on me

We would thank you for your feedback, but unfortunately, you may have confused our hostel with another one, as we're not in or near the Red Light District. We are on the Vossiusstraat next to the Vondelpark, about 20 minutes walk from The Red Light District. We've asked Tripadvisor to remove this review from our page, but unfortunately to no avail. We don't understand why the review cannot be removed, so we ask you to remove the review yourself. Perhaps it was meant for one of our other locations? We appreciate you taking the time to look into it.

Made a reservation in January 2020, in March with the cornavirus spreading Europe tried to cancel with reimbursement. First said yes, then said no because I hadn't done the booking in their website. Refused to refund my money, although they didn't provide the service. Treat clients like trash. Will never ever stay there in all my life. No ethics, take the money right out of your credit card, but then don't give a damn if you can't go there because you have no flights, or if you are going to stay in room with other people. All this when there is a world Pandemic.

It was a good choice .. I stayed there for a weekend ...the team were friendly and helpful ..We had a twin private room...it was good enough for me...bathroom were clean..the building smells good even with the a lot of people.. one thing i didn't like it is that there was no elevator for the 3rd and 4th floor which is in need if you carry a heavy luggage.

Thank you very much for your kind feedback! It's great to see that you had a good time staying with us, and we hope to see you again. Unfortunately we indeed aren't able to add an elevator to our facilities, but next time you're staying with us feel free to request a lower floor and we'll see what we can do. Kind regards! - The Flying Pig Uptown

I stayed a weekend with a friend in a shared 8-bedroom. Located along a quiet street and next to park it was about 15-20 minute walk to the center. Good location to reach everything! Hostel was pretty lively but there weren't any organized events to socialize with other travellers. Breakfast was good but very limited in choice. Rooms were secured by card-entry and had locked storage under each bed for your belongings. Showers were clean most of the time with hot water available all the time. One thing I'd suggest is to add some extra shelves or rails so that we can put our stuff and dry clothes aside whilst we shower. I'd stay again here.

Overall I just felt so cramped in this hostel, more than any other I've stayed at before. The bathrooms are so small it's almost impossible to wash your face or brush your teeth over the little sink without getting water all over the floor. And they don't have paper towels or hand dryers so you're left with gross wet hands leaving the bathroom and touching everything. My bed light had several pieces of gum on it, which could've been cleaned off before I got there. The bed itself doesn't have enough head room to sit up (I had a bottom bed) and I hit my head a few times by mistake when waking up :-) The room itself was stuffy and had a weird smell, everyone in my room wanted to keep the window open. There are 2 small hooks that are side by side for each 2 beds. So really only one person can use it otherwise your towel would touch the other's. People just hung their wet towels to dry on their bed rails which is kinda gross since you're right on top of each other. Nothing like someone else's used towel right by your face to sleep :-) I understand this is a hostel and you get what you pay for, but this hostel is poorly designed and not very functional.
