I've never been to Amsterdam nor stayed in a hostel before so this was a first all round for me. I was not disappointed. It really says something when the mattress in a hostel is more comfortable than the one you actually own in your house. This bed was BEAUTIFUL. My boyfriend and I did shell out for a private...

Right near Rijlksmuseum and Leidseplein (great area for eating out and going out). Only comment would be that at times the wifi was super slow and that if you want to be near red light district or...

Stayed here for three nights mid-week with a friend. Her first hostel experience whereas I've been to lots (both in our mid twenties). This is an excellent hostel - good service, clean rooms, large lockers under bed for all your valuables. Bar open 12 noon til 3am then you can still buy drinks from "reception" (it's the same place) after...

It was the first time I went to a hostel and I did not really know what to expect, but this one was recommended to me by one of my friends. The staff is incredibly friendly, the rooms are really clean. The best part I would say was the ambiance that the hostel gave. It was mostly young people and...

The Bar was very cool above all the music. Breakefast was awsome. I felt like on the first holiday camp and I enjoyed it so much....

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
