I was a little apprehensive before we arrived, based on previous reviews, however I was pleasantly suprised - the room was more than adequate - only gripe was a torn bedcover The bathroom was spotless - new bath/shower The reception staff were so informative and helpful with suggestions and tips for sightseeing. The bar staff pleasant and friendly Breakfast was...

Been to Amsterdam 3 times and this was the best hotel we have stayed in. Check in was easy, they had a place to hold our luggage until our rooms were ready. Rooms were clean and great size. Location is fantastic and central. Breakfast was included and had a variety of items- wouldnt have to eat the same thing if...

The linen were full with holes and in some cases burnt. The bathtub was full of black and red stains. The internet was rarely working, despite there was advertisement that there is free WIFI. I would not recommend it.

Great location and really friendly helpful staff. Room was lovely and beds comfy. Only downside was noise in the morning. We were first floor with a loading bay outside our window (but you don't go to Amsterdam to sleep). Would definitely use this hotel again.

I was in Amsterdam for just 2 days, so figured, I could just get something cheap and close to Centraal Station. This place was close by, but an absolute dump and not cheap! The rooms were very dated, tv was broken, and the shower/bathroom in the room was nasty. There is no separation between the shower and the toilet, so...

We needed somewhere to stay for a couple of nights and our priority was a bolthole in a central location at a relatively reasonable cost (we realised when we started looking that all accommodation in Amsterdam is pretty pricey). The Prins Hendrik was ideal for us, just a few minutes walk from the Centraal station; right on various tram routes...

What a fab find! Lovely hotel, staff very friendly and helpful. Opposite the train and within walking distance of shops and bars. Stayed in room 323 and the view was amazing. The hotel is clean, beds comfortable , shower great. Maid service daily. Didn't encounter one rude member of staff which is always a bonus to your stay. Breakfast was...

The hotel is located in front of Amsterdam, central which gives it easy acsess in and out of the city. All of the trams lines and metro trains stop at the central station and lots of places are in walking distance like the Dam, Chinatown, The red light district , the shopping street Kalverstraat are all less then 10 min...

Stayed in Jan 2017 and we had a great weekend here. Jumped of the train and hotel was located right in front of the station and the shops/restaurants just around the corner from the hotel. Breakfast was average but can't complain mixture of some hot food (eggs, beans) the rest cold ham/bread/cereal/fruit etc. Staff friendly and helpful, tv was broke...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
