I stayed in Prins Hendrik for 4 nights and got a great rate booking on Agoda. The location of the hotel is perfect (Central Station, Dam Square, RLD are all within 10-20 minute walk)
If you prefer metro and tram to walking, most nearby destinations (Albert Cuyp Market,Museums, Jordaan)start at Central Station Area. Plenty of great bars and restaurants around the hotel. Good staff. Buffet breakfast was ok. The only complaint is the hotel is a bit dated and room is smaller than I’m use to. If you are looking for a hotel by all the action , I would give them a try.

The hotel is very well located in the city center and near the central station where you can catch a bus, tram, train or metro.
There are lots of restaurants and cafes in the area, Red light district and Dam square are close, etc.

Our room was on the second floor and it had curved walls, also the windows could not be opened fully, just open to the top.

There are stairs as soon as you enter the front door, just a couple of them.

There is no fridge, no safe deposit box, no hair dryer, and no toiletries.
You just get the soap, shampoo and toilet paper. Everything else bring with you.

The heating system is operated centrally and can not be controlled inside the room.
We slept with open windows most of the time, but that means that noise is heard from the street (it is difficult to get some sleep).

Breakfast is good, always the same, but good.

At the reception and in the restaurant everyone is very kind and helpful.

The hotel has an elevator.

The location for this hotel was great! It was right across from Central Station so we could just walk with our luggage as we took the train from airport to Central Station. It was about 5 mins to get to Red Light District. Our family with teens had a large room with 6 twin beds which were comfortable. There was no air condition though and it got loud with windows open until about midnight with Parker’s. The room got hot when we shut them. If you can handle that, I would recommend this hotel. One other thing to mention is they will give you only 1 key and required you to turn it in each time you leave, then pick up upon return. The key is needed in order to get electricity in the room.

I visit amsterdam every year and was impressed with this little hotel. It had everything you could ask for. We came here as a family of 5 with small children and everyone was happy. The room was spotless and spacious and had the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in a hotel. Our room was made extra special by the super views of central station and the canals. The staff in the hotel were very friendly, polite and helpful and went out if their way to make us feel comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic buffet style and had a great selection of cooked, fruit, ceriels, etc... The only issue I had was with an older lady who worked in the restaurant who obviously just did not like children but all the other staff were fantastic and accommodating for our young children. The location could not be better as you are literally 5 mins from central station and right in the centre of all the action, restaurants, coffee shops, etc.. Overall fantastic, relaxing stay in a great hotel! Will be back to this hotel again and would highly recommend.. also the elevator made life a lot easier!

Americans usually have a hard time finding hotels in Europe when staying with a friend. The problem is the beds are usually pushed right up against each other. Well, my buddy and I secured a triple room at this hotel. I was a little nervous after reading some of the reviews but we had a great experience. For starters it's pretty easy to reach. There are frequent trains from Schiphol airport (~ 15 min ride) and the hotel is about an 8 minute walk upon leaving Central Station. This in itself is super convenient. The morning we arrived we were allowed to drop off our bags and headed back out to sightsee. The Red Light district, bars, pubs, canals, restaurants, Chinatown, and much more are within easy walking distance.

The room itself kind of exceeded my expectations, especially for a European hotel. The bathroom was immaculately clean, had very hot water, and even a tub. The triple had a ton of room so we could spread out with no problem. The room had air conditioning and a small fridge which was much appreciated. The beds were comfortable and my request for extra pillows was honored. They were a little on the small side but not a big deal. We had an amazing view from our room. Not too loud out there but city noise doesn't bother me in the first place. You could crack the window if you wanted to. Be careful with the super steep stairs though. My friend has large feet and had to almost walk sideways.

Breakfast was included in our rate and was tasty. Cold cuts, cheeses, croissants, pastries, cereal, beans, sausages, eggs, bacon, fruit, rolls, and the self serve coffee was very nice. It was a great way to start our day. The staff in the restaurant and reception was very good on every encounter and spoke great English. This hotel was a pretty good deal for the money and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again on a future trip to Amsterdam. Thank you for your hospitality!

We were very happy with the Hotel Prins Hendrik. First, the location was great - a short walk from Centraal Station so catching the metro and trams was very convenient and there were literally dozens of restaurants in the area. Second, the hotel had its own bar next door (perfect for an evening nightcap) and a breakfast buffet that was great. Our room was huge in comparison to many boutique European hotel rooms and we had a lovely view of the canal and the Centraal Station from our window. The staff were very nice and accommodating. Would definitely recommend.

Good location opposite the train station and minutes from red light/china town ect ect
Room average but quirky and clean good view out window, our room was across the street and 3 floors up bit of a pain with the narrow stairwell but it was good enough for a 3 day stay, no kettle in room or hairdryer
Breakfast was good enough nothing special but decent enough.

Staff were very polite and very helpful.

There are lots of hotels in Amsterdam this is a great location and base if you want luxury then spend a bit more

Would come again but would probably try somewhere else

Stayed for 3 nights to visit Amsterdam. Staff were excellent, well knowledged, helpful and multilingual.
Hotel was excellently placed for all transport links, as you come out of Centrall Station you can see it across the road.
Rooms were large, confortable. Linen was changed dailly although we didn't require it.
Breakfast was also good with a large selection of hot and cold food (buffet).
Please remember, it is a City Centre Hotel, but it quietens down after midnight and wakens up early (street cleaning deliveries), but this was only a small issue for us.
Double Glazing and cotton wool in ears helped!
I would stay here again as convenience and a nice hotel wins the day.

The hotel was right near the main train station, so it was easy to walk to. There are a wide variety of places to eat and shop within walking distance. My room was ready when I got there around 1300. Check in was easy and they had some suggestions for tours and places to visit. My room was on the second floor. (The elevator was really slow, so it was easier to just take the stairs to get to and from my room.). The room size was what I expected for European hotel. The was soap and shampoo provided in the bathroom. The bathroom was very small. Breakfast was a variety of bread/rolls along with fruit, fruit juices, coffee and tea. Overall, i was happy with the room.

Great hotel in a great location! Customer service is outstanding, Carlo at the front desk is amazing! He treats you like family! . They also have a hot breakfast which is great. We travel the world a lot and stay here again, in a heartbeat. Central train station is literally across the street and hundreds of restaurants are very very close. The red light District is about a three minute walk from here.
