The location was great. Check out person was very nice. That being said. Our room was awful. Towels were dirty, light was broken in the bathroom, hairdryer died after first use. They did not replace the toilet paper after the first day. Room was stuffy, we were on the top floor, so 3 flights of stairs, the last was almost like a ladder. Rugs were filthy. I do not recommend staying here.

Perfect location, literally a 5 minute tram into the centre. Only issue we had was that the receptionist seemed to have gone for a nap when we were meant to check out so we had to write them a note instead. A little unprofessional and embarrassing to say the least. The food provided is great and the rooms are very spacious.

Such a cute hotel. Staff so kind and knowledgeable. Be prepared for small rooms and washrooms plus lots of stairs, but that is part of the charm of Amsterdam/Europe. But expect clean, soft sheets, and comfortable beds. Lovely breakfast with the best freshly baked croissants. Lovely fruit and wine basket in room, coffee machine in lounge. Great location to restaurants (thanks for the delicious recommendation) and transportation. Quiet area. We truly enjoyed this property.

I needed to amend my previous review. The best part of the hotel is the location. It is close to the tram, which tracks perfectly to the City Center and Museo district located within walking distance. There are lovely restaurants and shops nearby which also makes for a convenient stay. This hotel also lies nearby the wonderful Vondelpak. It’s as awesome as advertised. The hotel itself is very basic. The larger family room, esp in the basement, is of fair quality at best. Dirty carpet, poor flushing toilet and minimal cleaning. One day found us with a stained sheet, that was only salvaged by available linens stored in the common hallway closet. The stairs to the room are steep and winding, which are very precarious even for very mobile travelers. This hotel is best for sleeping and short stays. Would recommend for young families or folks with limited mobility.

We had a good stay at this hotel. We rented a triple room. Apparently there are 3 triple rooms in this hotel. One triple room in the basement, and two triple rooms on the upper floor. The triple rooms on the upper floor have kitchenettes. We got a room on the upper floor facing the garden. It was dead quiet no road noise at all. The room had a double and a single bed which made my daughter happy as she got a real bed and not a rollout sofa bed. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk to Vondel Park, 15 minutes to museum district, and 20 minutes to the Albert Cuyp market (which we really enjoyed, you gotta go there). There a several restaurants close by, we enjoyed the Brasserie Van Dam (went there two times). Our room was quite large, but stairs leading to our room where steep and narrow (there's no elevator). But our host Roy was more than happy to bring our luggage up to the room, and down when checking out. The only caution I would make, is that the rooms do not have air conditioning. One day the weather was 30 degrees celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) and our room was very warm even though we had 2 fans.

I found this hotel to be excellent. It is not big and has lots of stairs but it is very welcoming and friendly in a really nice location. Every member of the staff was very helpful and they took care of my bags up the stairs. The in-house breakfast had plenty of variety and everything was very fresh. Thram no 2 going through the city to Central Station is almost at the door

If I could give it a zero I would. Terrible. dirty. Don’t even bother, this place is a run down dump with no sense of service or hygiene. From the hall ways, to the stairs, to the half drunken bottle of wine in our room, to the stains on the “clean” sheets. Avoid at all costs!!!!

Really liked our stay here. The hotel and rooms are simple and a little bit dated, but offer more than enough for a comfortable short stay. We loved the location. It is a little bit out of the way, so very peaceful and quiet, but within walking distance to all the action. Would go back.

This was a last minute booking and we were absolutely delighted with the hotel in every aspect. The area is up-market and relatively quiet (there is a frequent tram service into the centre of town and the Central Station). The Museur Quarter is just around the corner. The Vondelpark is a stone's throw away. As for the hotel itself it is a tiny bit cramped - rooms are relatively small and ours was up on the third floor. Hard work in a lift free building. That said, everything else is top notch: The communal areas are light and airy, there is free coffee and an honesty bar. Breakfast looked great - altho' we missed out on it on this trip. The reception staff could not have been more helpful and were generous in giving their time to make recommendations, provide directions etc. It was also great to be staying in an independent hotel rtaher than a dull chain outlet. The price seemed about right for this standard of accommodation in a great part of town. This is a clear first choice for a stay in Amsterdam and we will certainly be back.

Do not expect the Ritz. This is an hotel that serves a purpose. We were on a short midweek break and needed a place to lay our heads. The room was spotless. The bathroom too, although more of a wet room. Toiletries and towels supplied. Large TV with a good selection of channels. The room was small, but as I said served a purpose. Staff very friendly, and welcoming. The location is a little out of town, but is very quiet and surrounded by restaurants and boutiques. If heading into the city, walking takes 10 minutes before you start to hit the pubs and shops. Dam Square is a good 25 to 30 minute walk. When we arrived into Schipol we travelled by train to Central Station. We got a Taxi that cost €40 and took 20 minutes through traffic. We should have taken a Taxi from the airport which would have cost the same, or taken the bus where the station is only 400 meters away.
