Stayed with a friend for 2 nights in November. This is a lovely place to stay. Yes, it's basic, but it's clean, the breakfast was fine and the staff were all lovely. We didn't manage to get an en-suite room, and if staying longer we would have missed having our own bathroom. But for two nights, when we were out...

We enjoyed Amsterdam and our stay in the Hotel Prinsenhof. There are some steep stairs (it is Amsterdam so expect that) so pack light. But if you don't they have a winch rigged up to haul your gear up to the top floors. We requested twin beds and got a larger room I think. They have a website which previews...

Lets face it. When you go to amsterdam and opt for a hotel like the Prinsenhof, you are usually going for a few days to see the many sights, shop and indulge in all the city has to offer. The prinsenhof is the perfect hotel for this. Yes, its simple, and yes its budget. This just adds to its charm!...

Stayed here for just under a week in late Sept/early Oct 2005. We had a twin and a single, both with shared bath; the twin was huge for budget accommodations in the Netherlands, the single more what I was expecting (ie, just big enough for the bed and sink). Both were comfortable and clean. The staff was very friendly, as...

We stayed a few days and loved this little hotel. Friendly it is, interesting it is (with that brilliant steep staircase so beloved of the Dutch houses), and with a great wee pub on the corner. Wouldn't go anywhere else now.

Nothing 'budget' about this hotel other than the price. A lovely intimate atmosphere in this traditional Dutch building. Very clean and comfortable. Spent 5 wonderful nights here and were made to feel most welcome. The Continental breakfast was excellent, even had a heated coffee stand, on each table (to keep the pot hot), most thoughful. (An English couple in their...

Summary: For 85 Euros a night, I expected a little more. What I got was a glorified hostel, which is fine if I was paying hostel prices, but I don't consider 85 Euros to be hostel prices. The Good: The place is quaint. It is a cute row house tucked away just off of a main street (and literally steps...

Hotel Prinsenhof was a great cozy little hotel conveniently located in the heart of Amsterdam. It is right by the Tram 4 stop and easy to get to wherever you are in Amsterdam. The owners are friendly and accommodating. We stayed 2 nights in Room 10 on the top floor. It was full of character and comfortable. Breakfast was good,...

We've just returned from Amsterdam and would recommend the Prinsenhof. We had a double and a twin room without facilities but found them both very comfortable, quiet and clean and quite spacious too. If you want a relatively cheap hotel in central Amsterdam which is in a friendly area (ie. you feel comfortable walking round at night) then try this...

When we booked this hotel it was ranked 28th out of the Amsterdam travel deals (March '05). When we went it had slipped down to 86th and having been I can see why. But, firstly the positives - it is very central. The guides books say it is a hotel with character - and this is what it is. We...
