Our small hotel is situated in a beautiful canal-house that is over 300 years old, nestled on the quiet, picturesque Singel, the oldest of the four major ring canals in Amsterdam's famed inner city. Our cosy hotel offers an oasis right in the centre of town. The hustle and bustle of the shopping streets around Dam Square, the charm of the myriad canals lined with 17th-century houses and world famous sights, such as the Anne Frank House, are all literally steps away. There are also convenient trams and other public transport options to whisk you off to all of the city's many attractions. Room information: the hotel offers 13 double and single rooms and one triple room. We serve a good continental breakfast-buffet in our light and pleasant breakfast room. Rooms are ready for check in at 14.00 o'clock. If you arrive earlier we can store your luggage until then. We look forward to have you as our guests!

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was a bad experience from the very start. The sign on the main entrance door stated ‘if no one is at reception please use other door but beware of the cats’ RED FLAG. One we got to the room via a dangerously steep stairs, we were disappointed in what we saw. The room was tiny. The en-suite door could not open fully because it was hitting the bed. Nowhere to hang our clothes apart from a few hooks on the wall. The room looked so dated, it was like a cheap bed sit from the 70’s. At that point we made our mind up to leave and luckily we were able to book another hotel just down the street at great additional cost.

I wish I'd checked the reviews more carefully, in which case I wouldn't have stayed here. Even as a solo traveller I expected at least a queen bed, no indication that I'd be 4 flights up narrow stairs with luggage and a room the size of cubicle. Taty decor, tired and in need of re-decorating. Window hard to open , opposite another hotel and all their rooms, stifling hot. Crap water pressure that totally stopped in the afternoon, so bad you had to dance around the tiny shower to get wet. The soft mattress was dreadful and worse the room had 1 set of steel bunk beds? Seriously? Pluses were the staff who were young and helpful, the breakfast was fine and a nice surprise was the fresh orange juice. The cost of the room was way too expensive for this low standard. Would I stay here again? Not in a hairy pink fit!

If you're looking for a room the size of a stamp and a heater that cannot be be turned off, this is the right hotel for you. If you want croissants for breakfast every day then this is the place for you.

Terrible hotel - dirty - mouse problem - tatty decor - stairs are practically vertical/dangerous . It was so bad we left and at great expense booked into another hotel. Booking.com whose headquarters are close by should be ashamed for listing this property on there platform!

My partner booked this and I was very worried after reading some of the reviews but, I was pleasantly surprised. Friendly staff, free freshly squeezed orange, soft drinks and coffees all day which is a bonus. Breakfast is a bit poor , they could do more but I’m happy with a croissant , banana and a couple of coffees! The bedrooms could do with updating but saying that, they bed was so comfortable, fresh soft white cotton duvets and pillows, we slept so well. We had a big fan and opened the windows so it was lovely and cool (there is no aircon) but it was fine (and was hot that weekend). The location is perfect, 7min walk to Dam Square. I would definitely go back there again. Nice, clean, friendly, quaint hotel in a perfect location.

There was a mouse in our room. Staff seemed to be reading off a script about the mouse problem clearing indicating this is a reoccurring problem. Wifi only worked in the lobby which was only open til 11pm. Bathroom was nice and comfortable bed.

The hotel is located in a nice area, close to the center town, in a peaceful environment. That's for the good news. But ... No one there when you arrive. We someone finally opens, you find out the hotel is being refurbished. No breakfast available (but we paid for them), no toilet paper in the room, television does not work, carpet was dirty. They finally accepted to change our room to have the television. I'm still waiting for the credit for the breakfast... City of Amsterdam is nice, that's the good part of the week-end.

They charged 100 eur cleaning fee for "thank you" note written by a marker on mirror, which can be cleaned easily by an alcohol wipe. Stay there if you have money to pay more for their arbitrary and unreasonable extras.

Appalling service, we was unable to travel due to Coronavirus, our flights was cancelled by easyJet who issued a full refund. This place and the owner handled it terribly, very arrogant and very patronising. Told us we must pay a cancellation fee even though we can’t physically get to the country, very hard to get in touch with. If you want a hotel that cares about its customers then definitely avoid this place. One of the worst places I’ve ever dealt with in my life. AVOID

If travellers are looking for a typically old Amsterdam small hotel, this is the place. Just make sure you have no no one with mobility difficulties (which we did). I'll start from the beginning. We arrived in the late morning before the room were available. Staff in the hotel were remarkably friendly and helpful as much as they could. On Nigieran as friendly as he was couldn't help .us with connections The rest of the stay was over mid stream. It should work. zit may have worked fir some part of the sit-seeing excursion but I would stay close to the original goal.
