One block from the museum quarter. Shopping everywhere. No air conditioning and the steps are steep(elevators will help with older couples). Room was clean and the staff was very friendly. I recommend this hotel for younger guests. Bathroom was quite small.

First of all the positives: Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Rooms were quirky and clean - loved the basketball hoop in the bedroom and all the little extra decorations ! It was great location if you are hoping to visit all the museums (only a few minutes walk away from museum square). The hotel is in quite a safe...

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was a perfect location for our itinerary, which included going to all the museums. It was also a short walk to the downtown areas with shops, restaurants and bars. The place itself was very clean and had a trendy, hip vibe (We felt at times the vibe was a little "forced"...

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Very steep stairs, which is the norm here. There is a lift but it doesn't go down to the breakfast room. Good selection of food though fruit salad is from tins. We had a standard twin room which was very small with narrow -...

Very central location. Clean and well kept. Staff very cordial and helpful. Room was large and comfortable. Breakfast included, basic but more than fine. Happy to come back next time I'm in town. Only down is the shower size but hey it's just the shower.

Service was exceptional, whether it be providing local areas of interest, restaurants (except one in particular, a local Indonesian, perhaps the worst experience and rip-off this year), directions, transport, or through to calming down fellow guest revellers returning in the early hours. Bedrooms small, but we came for the art not the lazing. Breakfasts more then adequate. But the real...

Dear mhill873, Thank you for sharing you experience with us. Happy to see you had a great time at our place. Thank you for complimenting my team, I will let them know you said so. The cyclist in Amsterdam are always 10 minutes late, that's the reason why they drive so carelessly. I hope that in spite the cyclist you...

We recently stayed in the Max Brown hotel whilst enjoying a weekend break in Amsterdam. It was really great, trendy and modern. The room was clean and tidy and the service really good. A really good buffet breakfast was served, although the breakfast room did get a little crowded. Location was great really close to Van Gough and Rijksmuseum, and...

You need to phone and check just what you are getting. Being an old Amsterdam building room sizes vary. Not all rooms are what you might expect so do check first. There are about 4 sizes of rooms at varying prices and facilities. We had a medium room with a window overlooking the front. It had a king size bed,...

Hotel has been renovated with good taste. I asked reception to arrange welcoming surprise and they did it good. We felt very welcome from the very beginning, our room was ready earlier which was nice due to ver yhtään early flight.

Myself and my new husband decided to take a weekend trip to Amsterdam, a place we always wanted to visit. Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Max Brown Museum Square settles down at the Museum Square, known by locals as the central hub of the city. Location is everything in a city like Amsterdam and the Museum Square, located South of the old city, has it al. You are just a block away from the world famous Van Gogh Museum, Stedelijk Museum and Rijksmuseum, escape outdoors to the Vondelpark where you can join locals for a lovely Picnic or go for some high end shopping in the PC Hooftstraat, van Baerlestraart and Beethovenstraat. The Museum Quarter (the neighbourhood around the Museum Square) is, despite all its touristic attractions, largely a residential neighbourhood with tree-lined streets and gorgeous 19th-century architecture. ... more   less
