Our room had not been cleaned when we arrived. There was used bedding with dirty tissues in the bed. We complained to reception, who said they would sort it out. When we arrived back at the hotel SIX HOURS later, it still had not been cleaned. I rang reception, who told me i would have to come and collect the...

The hotel was located in the museum district which is an easy location on the bus and tram line so made it easy to get around the city. Also easy to get to from the airport and to the train station, those were the only good things about this place. The front desk was not very friendly or helpful, but...

I stayed at this Hotel last weekend and seriously it was the WORST experience ever! I felt like I should share so no one has to go through what I did... The location was fine, very close to the tram stop, but this was about the only good thing. The hotel looks old and dirty, the corridors old and filthy...

Arrived later than expected due to flight delay, but reception staff was fairly helpful. Ok, the rooms are on the small side, but are adequate for what we wanted. Breakfast was a continental affair, but to be honest, what do you expect when travelling on the CONTINENT????? If you cannot fill up on cereal, bread, ham cheese bread rolls and jam/spreads,...

If you are squeemish about rats, don't stay here. I had a rat in my room (first floor) that kept me up all night. It ate through my closed snack bar. They would not refund my money, but did offer a night in another hotel nearby, but I decided to stay with a friend on the 3rd floor so as...

When you arrive in Amsterdam, you may be overwhelmed with the sights, sounds and "open mindedness" of it citizens, and the prices...So it is definitely a good idea to have a room before you get there. At least that's what I thought. I chose this place based on the price and the reviews, and ended up with a mouse in my...

This hotel is almost a hostel - good for the younger travellers who are not looking for ANY luxuries and looking for cheap accommodation. The rooms are very small, with no room to 'swing the cat' and you need to be cautious of banging heads/elbows etc. There's no real room to relax in the rooms other than on the bed...

Me and my friends enjoyed a two night stay at this hotel and were more than impressed! After booking the hotel we read all the reviews prior to our trip and were reluctant to stay here! I am just glad we continued with our booking and ignored all the bad remarks! Ok, yes, the rooms are tiny and yes they...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
