Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great spot for exploring Amsterdam. Right next door to the Metro station which is 2 stops from Centraal and really accesible for all areas of the city. The 3 day public transport card was perfect and meant that all of our travel was paid for so would recommend one of those. The hotel is also close to a grocery store (literally opposite!) and other shops, restaurants etc are just a short walk away. The rooms were really spacious, clean, comfortable and cosy. We were celebrating and the staff kindly upgraded us which was very kind. Everyone we spoke to who worked here was very helpful and friendly. Overall 5/5 for us, would highly recommend.

There are so many good things to say about this hotel. To mention a few: aesthetic decor, clean spacious rooms and comfortable beds. The hotel has fine parking fascilities and is extremely close to the metro, which takes you to the Central Station i a few minutes.

PERFECT!!! I had done research on hundreds of hotels for Amsterdam and I finally chose this one and it exceeded my expectations! When we arrived we didn’t have any problems, we had previously made our reservation through the Accor website (tip: register as an Accor member for 10% off) and everything went smoothly, the receptionists were so polite and helpful. We didn’t have to put in a deposit as others had mentioned. The room was tidy and it smelled nice. We had everything we needed in the room. Cleanliness was on top, which was very important for me. Beds were so comfortable with lots of pillows. As for taking showers, we had warm water continuously, I was also really impressed by the cleanliness of the bathroom. Everyday they tidied the room and we had fresh towels (lots of them). Immediately as you leave the hotel, in the left is the train station (consider that a 1 minute walk) that takes you to the Amsterdam Centre for 4 minutes (you could buy a train ticket for how many days you’re staying for a cheaper rate, or you could pay instantly with your credit card at the door each time you take the train) -The location was amazing! There is a market right in front of the hotel. There were also some restaurants in the train station, they looked nice but I haven’t tried them so I can’t say for sure if they’re worth it. I also haven’t tried breakfast in the hotel, but I could only expect good things because i was so satisfied with the hotel. This hotel will be my go-to whenever I will visit Amsterdam again. Wonderful!

The hotel is ok very close to the Metro - north station and some grocery shopping nearby. We were at Tribe 6 months ago -- sister company also under Accor and connected to Mercure hence their breakfast area and bar is the same. My complaint is the service! I returned here for New Years and spoke to the lady at the reception when we checked in on 30 Dec. around 5 pm that I will need a taxi to airport on 1st January at 10:00 AM sharp. She confirmed she booked. We spoke to them again the same day evening to reconfirm it's a big taxi due to our big luggages and she confirmed again and mentioned that the fixed rate of EUR 56. The day of new year - 1 Jan, we're in a hurry to catch our fligth and lo and behold there was NO BOOKING for taxi done! The two new reception that new year's morning confirmed no booking was done to the transport services! They had to book again the same tim so we waited for 20 minutes for all this to be sorted out! They reconfirmed that we will only pay a fixed EUR 57 but lo and behold again! we paid EUR 87 for a 15 mins drive from hotel to airport! What a waste! I was about to give good review for the hotel but with this kind of service that affected our flight back, is sooooo disappointing! The concierge manning the reception that new year's day morning didn't even showed any concern about what happened. They didn't even showed anything to resolve, they just simply said 'oh sorry there was no booking done'! Better book uber or other legit transpo services than this hotel! Very bad customer experience!

Response from Mercure Amsterdam North Station, General Manager at Mercure Amsterdam North Station
Responded 17 Jan 2024
Dear Ms. Poblete, Thank you for staying with us and for your comment. We take very seriusly guests' feedback. We are happy to hear that you like our Hotel and the stay with us. We are, instead, sorry to hear about your experience with the Taxi on the morning of January 1st. This taxi company is an external company which we work with. We are dissapointed to hear that they charged more than they should have. I have already contacted them and filed a complaint. This complaint has already been dealt with and they were able to determine that you paid too much indeed. You will therefore receive a refund on the card you used to pay. I apologize again for any inconvenience this might have caused and we hope we can welcome you again in our property in the future. Best Regards, Ilary Cluster Front Office Manager

Great room, comfy beds and spotless clean. Location close to central station. That’s where it ends . Air con difficult to control and loud noise at night . Room only attended to once despite staying three nights . Not taking cash in unacceptable. Not all customers deal with bank cards. Staff rude. Zero atmosphere in the bar. Not that we got to stay as the whole place is cashless . Disgraceful . Won’t be back.

Excellent location near to the Metro - 2 stops from Centraal Station. Hotel staff was friendly and the hotel is modern and clean. I would definitely stay here again. The only con is that there are no on-site or nearby food options after 10 pm. I would suggest that the hotel considers having at least refrigerated sandwiches for sale at reception, but until then, I would recommend that guests keep something to eat in their rooms for those late night munchies.

This is an excellent hotel. It is located very close to a metro station, allowing access to the central Amsterdam to be very easy. The hotel is very clean, the staff are very pleasant and helpful, and there is an expresso machine in the room! I am not a frequent reviewer and I only review hotels when I am extremely impressed.

I did a lot of research before selecting this hotel and it paid off - believe it was the best place we stayed during our month long European vacation. Actually stayed twice, once for 3 nights, then overnight only on the way to London. Hotel is very modern - opened April 2022 - and well designed. Plenty of room in bathroom for all your items, non slip tiles and walk in shower with rain shower head. Heaven. Lots of plugs and lights in the rooms which are quite spacious compared to many others. Our ‘family room’ ( double plus 2 singles in a separate room) was huge. Beds very comfortable. Plenty of hangers and hanging space. Breakfast slightly expensive, but buffet so all you can eat. Coffee from machine. Not obvious but they do make omelettes to order. We also had pizza one night at the bar and it was very good. 2 minute flat walk and two stops from Centraal is very convenient if you’re arriving or leaving by train; while slightly complex to navigate, there are lifts. Obviously also then easy to continue by underground to other parts of Amsterdam or get a train or tram. Windows well soundproofed. When open there was limited road / bus noise. Finally the staff were excellent. Always friendly. I left something in the safe on my first visit and they responded to my email very quickly and assured me they would retrieve and keep it til when I returned. Multiple staff checked that I’d received it on my return. Would stay again in a heartbeat and would recommend to anyone staying in Amsterdam.

Read good reviews of this property and very accurate having experienced first hand. Djina is exceptional - very hospitable and service oriented. Check in was smooth and she personally delivered the welcome amenity to my room. Very friendly lady and so are the staff that I met while exploring the gym at Tribe. Convenient location - just 2 short stops to Amsterdam station. A good base to explore the city.
