Very alternative location to stay. Superb location very Much in the heart of central in Amsterdam. The accomidation is comfortable and caters for a wide variety of clients but is definitely smoker friendly. Typically Dutch with steep stairs and small rooms but furnished with comfortable mattresses and very helpful staff. This hotel provides free breakfast to set you up for...

Great clean room. Perfect location in middle of centre. Would definitely stay again. Stayed in the 'Turkish delight' room, twin single beds and private bathroom. Small but had everything you need with very well stocked minibar. Only negative is the cleaner starts very early and the walls are paper thin!

I stayed here for a night in a three bed room with my brother. The staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was great and cooked to order. The location of this place is quite good. It is nearly in the center of Amsterdam making it easy to go everywhere in the city.

I stayed in Sallon apartment which is around 1 minute walk from the hotel on first floor. Apartment was very spacious with all the basic required things and a neat and clean wash room. Staff is really helpful. They serve breakfast in bar and atmosphere was healthy there. Wifi is available free both in bar and room. You get discount...

Stayed here for three nights with a group of friends. The staff were extremely welcoming & helpful and the rooms were clean. The whole place is a little quirky but in a good way. It's in a great location & we would definitely stay here again.

Nice beer. Small bar in a rustic little hotel on the edge of the RLD. Did not try the rooms but certainly a warm welcome from the barman (bald French speaking guy) and they have a wealth of local beer options.

Now known as Bones and Co, I first went here in 2014. There's only a few places I've found in Amsterdam where you can have an alcoholic drink, smoke AND be able to hear the person next to you. There's a lot of places that have smoking areas and sell alcohol but they're all too loud or too intense. As...

Stayed here twice now, hunted it out because we wanted a smoking room which was close to everything. Really enjoyed both stays here, asked for the Arabian nights room the second time when we booked because it was our anniversary and they confirmed everything no problems at all. Happy hours great at the bar but we never stayed at the...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
