Lovely little hotel which was perfect for our long weekend in Amsterdam. We arrived early on Friday morning with the hopes of leaving our luggage and heading off to explore for the day. We were extremely happy when we were offered early check! The stairs are a little steep but thankfully we were on the 1st floor so not too bad with the cases. The room was small but perfect for what we needed. We were pleasantly surprised with a jacuzzi bath in our bathroom alongside a stand up shower /wet room. The room offered 2 beds (one king size possibly even Queen and one single). The room was cleaned and fresh towels given which was great. The wooden windows let in a little draft but the boiling radiators made up for that! Curtains kept out all the light during the nights. Overall 9/10 stay!! - Lights are far too dark and around 4pm when it got dark, we couldn’t see anything in the room. Had to use phone torches! - bring some more hangers as we didn’t have enough

Requested room on ground floor given one on top floor (no lift) Booked a double room, recieved two single beds pushed together One small wardrobe available in room with broken doors and no hangers so unusable and lived out of cases. would have expected more for the price of over 200 pounds a night. Nice location and clean but I would not give more than 2 stars. Wouldn't stay again.

The hotel's location was good, opposite a beautiful park and cafe around the corner. Only a few minute walk to shops. Tram stop walking distance from the hotel. Booked two rooms both single bed, the room on the third floor (top floor) would be a struggle to those with poor/limited mobility. The three flights of stairs were progressively windy and narrow. Other than that both rooms very clean one of the rooms was bigger in size and the other had a beautiful balcony. Beds were comfortable. Fridges in rooms worked. Kettle with tea and coffee at bedside provided. TV had limited channels but was good to have for background noise on an evening. You could hear the other guests in there rooms at times. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Lot's of tourist information (suggested activities on the front desk). Overall good stay and good value for money.

A little distance from the city center but worth the walk or public transportation: quiet at night. They offer breakfast at extra cost. There is a supermarket near by and the room has a small refrigerator. Will definitely consider this hotel if I go there for vacation.

The staff was really nice and friendly, we felt welcomed. The hotel is charming in an old, narrow and high house. The breakfest was good, something for everyone. The location is good, next to the botanical garden.

Due to the partial lockdown and rioting in the country, and one of our party having a serious heart complaint we telephoned the hotel to cancel, but was refused point blank, the man on reception was obnoxious and rude and not even aware of the partial lockdown coming into force, we explained our situation and was met with complete arrogance, he put the telephone down on us! We rang again and asked if we could transfer our booking if they will not let us cancel and again he refused, we asked to speak to a manager and he cut us off again... DO NOT STAY HERE.....

We booked a long weekend in this hotel for my husband’s birthday treat. We chose it because of the reviews regarding the helpfulness of the staff, location and price also taking into consideration the cancellation policy. On Friday, just 75 mins short of 24 hours due to travel, a friend notified us that The Netherlands we’re to go into partial lockdown that day. We immediately called the hotel at 3.15pm only to be told by the receptionist that we had missed our cancellation notice of 2pm, and that the full price would be taken. I tried to reason with him, advising that all our evening excursions would be cancelled and we would have to be in our hotel room by 8pm for the period of our stay with all bars, restaurants, supermarkets, entertainment closed. I also explained that one of of travellers had a serious heart condition and we were unaware that the COVID situation was that bad in The Netherlands and for safety reasons we would need to cancel. The guy was very rude, unhelpful, uncompromising and wouldn’t listen, just basically said “that’s the risk you take when you decided to book!” And terminated the call. I called back again and wanted to speak to a manager but the same guy would not put me through to anyone else. Again, I explained the situation we were facing and that had we had called or been notified by the hotel of the restrictions 75 minutes earlier we could have cancelled with a full refund. I told him we were not expecting our money to be refunded but could we possible move our reservation to another date and therefore none of the parties would be at a financial loss. Again, I was faced with a brick wall of no, no, no and again he hung up telling me he was busy and had lots of guests to check in. Due to the circumstances in the Netherlands, the increase risk of covid and the riots we decided against our trip hoping that we could resolve the issue with an email to the hotel. Again we have had no joy whatsoever being told we had plenty of time to cancel our trip and there would be no exceptions. When did we have time to cancel? We were unaware of the partial lockdown and called the hotel straight away. They also said that we didn’t cancel the rooms so they were unable to book them. The guy spoke to 2 members of our party who were upset and distressed explaining our situation and he hung up twice!! I am not an unreasonable person and I do understand that there is a risk that plans can change in this current climate. I appreciate if we chose not to just turn up without calling them then we should lose our money but this wasn’t the case. We were 75 minutes late for a full refund and there was absolutely no consideration to compromise. I have NEVER experienced such awful customer service and lack of empathy in my entire life of travelling and would urge you to think long and hard about booking your stay with a company who are totally unreasonable. Shame on Hotel Parklane.

My wife Julie and me along with 2 friends booked for Ruby wedding last year. Covid came so we had to move to October this year. Marijke was a brilliant host, with great information and making us all feel special. Good breakfast which was a real bonus in an expensive city. Location just away from the busy part, very nice park by canal across the road, excellent. Great bonus having a fridge too. Would recommend to anyone. Thanks again Marijke and team.

I booked fours nights in the Amsterdam Hotel Parklane for me and my wife for my birthday in March. In the week leading up to my trip Germany (where I live) closed its borders and Amsterdam went into lock down. I called the hotel and tried to cancel my hotel reservation but was informed by a member of staff that I still had to pay the full amount as I did not give the hotel one month's notice. I thought that this was harsh given I fully intended to go in the 28 days leading up to the trip (except the final week). I then asked if I could postpone my trip to when the pandemic was over but this request was refused. When I asked why, the member of staff said it was not possible to change and asked me my I was cancelling and that I should still travel. I feel that this approach by the Amsterdam Hotel Parklane demonstrated a complete lack of customer empathy and to ask me to travel to the hotel as scheduled was reckless and stupid. I will try to obtain a refund via my travel insurance and I will rebook to visit Amsterdam when it is safe to do so. One thing is for sure though, I will not be booking the Amsterdam Hotel Parklane for my rearranged trip or indeed any other trip in the future.
