Stayed here for Business in March 2017. Rooms are spacious and clean, breakfast is very good. Staff is very friendly. Downsides: I checked in and left for business, when I returned at 01:00 I couldn't stand the smell in the room. Something must have been wrong with the toilet. Pretty annoying as I was not able to change rooms at...

This is a good hotel in a pretty central location. We asked to change rooms, as we were travelling with our teenage son and we thought the room with the second bed on the mezzanine level would be better suited to our needs. This was achieved in a most friendly and helpful manner by Dimitri. He also suggested things to...

Really liked this little hotel, tucked away on a side street right in the heart of town. The rooms were quiet and comfortable with all mod cons (and even some non-so-mod cons, including a nice writing table!), even if not quite as 'posh' as some other places. Decent breakfast and helpful staff. Recommended if you like straightforward, clean, comfortable, quiet...

The hotel is located excellent when you want to explore the city. Everything is in distance of a short walk. Rooms are well decorated and spacy. The kitchenette has a Nespresso machine, so you can fix your breakfast coffee. Great value for money.

This is a very nice hotel with a perfect location. Very close to the center and just a few minutes walk from shops. It is surrounded by lovely cafes and bars. I especially liked the hotel because the heating could be properly adjusted and instead of air-conditioning this was done through underfloor heating. Meaning, it was perfect for me. The...

We stayed at Hotel Residence Le Coin for 4 nights over Christmas. We found the room to be big and clean and the bed large and comfortable. The small kitchenette was fabulous as we could buy some and keep some snacks and cheap beers :) The hotel provides access to a washing machine and dryer complimentary (just supply your own...

Stayed here last month for an overnight visit to Amsterdam with my friends. There were four of us so we booked the family room through booking.com and got quite a good deal. The hotel is in a good location, fairly central and certainly within walking distance of a lot of places. The room was big and spacious, and was split...

The official rating for a hotel of this standard wihld be 3 stars. However, this hotel surprised us positively. Location is perfect, service very frienly, rooms are spacious and clean. Our room was also very quite which is not always something to be taken for granted. Breakfast is basic yet adequate. I would recommend this hotel for anyone, good value...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
