Excellent 4 stars hotel for low price with own bike rental shop. Excellent service and very nice staff. Excellent location of the hotel almost in the city centre. Excellent quiet part of town, although the hotel is located almost in the center.
4 star? Right! I Booked a Deluxe double room for the weekend en ended up in a small, cozy and noisy ground floor room. Never as nice as they show on the pictures. The room was on the other side of the building and we had to walk our asses over there. To be specific room 131! They shouldn’t give people this room. Its located at the ground floor next to a door. And yes, you can guess... this door was slammed all the time by guests en when they do, it’s like people are busting in your room. The sound is so loud that almost everything in the room shakes. So we had a very ruff and sleepless night unfortunately. When I mentioned this during the check-out, The staff told me that I am not the first one who complains about this. So why the F they still offer this room to guests?! It’s a shame because I know the area and the neighborhood is nice. Away from all the hectic and tourism but still in the centre of Amsterdam. But no more staying here for me!…
I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all. The place is a mess. The staff rude and arrogant. I had to threaten them with the police just to get my money back. The location isn't great. Much better cheaper places in the City Centre.
Had a ground floor room which was a little small but enough for 2 people for a short stay, nicely decorated. Walls definitely a bit thin. Great access to public transport but also had a nice walk into the centre. Some really nice local restaurants and small grocery store.
My partner and I stayed in the large penthouse suite with terrace and city view for four nights. We arrived late evening but the staff were very helpful and welcoming, there was a slight mix up with parking as it hadn't been put down for the night staff, but they quickly sorted it and we were able to park the car. The room was clean and the bed was very comfy, it is a little dated but on the whole a very pleasent room, the cleaning staff are exceptional and so friendly, they kept the room clean and fresh linen every day, and enough coffee supplies for us each day. The flowers my partner had ordered for the room were stunning and fresh that day, the champagne was chilled. We had breakfast a couple of days and although a little expensive you could always go and get more, a choice of cereals, cooked breakfast, fruit, yoghurt and traditional continental breakfast, plenty of choice and something for everyone. You're close to everything in Amsterdam and the trams run very close to the hotel, you can buy passes at the hotel, or on the trams themselves and we found that most speak very good english. We had a wonderful time and the Grand Hotel Downtown and would love to stay there again in the future.…
