Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A very nice and cozy hotel. Perfect location near to tram and bus stops, including bus 397 that runs from/to airport in 25 minutes. Me and my friends stayed in triple and quadruple rooms which were spacious and comfortable. But the best with this hotel is the staff. The girls at the reception were sooo nice and helpful! Reception opens 24 hrs. I really recommend Alexander hotel

Fine for the price point. Lobby area is very cute and they offer free tea and coffee. Great location. We stayed in one of the houses in the garden, cute and a little bit private. Nice sitting area in the garden outside the room. Facilities were fine and the staff were friendly.

Staff was very nice and helpful, great location. Breakfast was good. Unfortunately the room smelt very strongly of mould. The shower did not really get hot and the water pressure was bad. We couldn’t close the bathroom door.

I had a wonderful 10 night stay at this hotel. It is in the Museum District so it is a quiet neighborhood with lots of green space nearby. Easy walk to Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum. Close to public transportation. Room was very comfortable and staff was very nice and very helpful with great suggestions for places to visit and things to do. Comfortable lobby with place to sit and have a coffee. Nice outdoor patio. Very reasonably priced for Amsterdam. I would definitely stay here again.

Great location, close to trams, museums etc. Set in a quiet neighborhood street. Lovely staff and lobby/ breakfast area. Our room was extremely tiny in relation to other hotels I’ve been to in Amsterdam.

Great location near the museums and Vondelpark. 20 minutes walk to Anne Frank's house and more central areas. Very easy bus journey to and from the airport. The staff were all very friendly. Quiet and charming older-style small hotel with free hot drinks available in the lounge. We went out for breakfast. Our room wasn't cleaned on the first day which was disappointing, housekeeping missed it. Reception were able to provide clean towels. We stayed in a small garden building and on the second day, we woke up to no power after a night of heavy rainfall. The staff fixed it very quickly after we went to tell them. Similarly, the hairdryer was broken but was changed straight away.

Not spacious, but clean hotel on a quiet street with friendly and helpful staff. Walking distance to Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum. Away from the downtown bustle it's an easy walk to the tram which run very frequently.

The rooms are extremely small, feels like you are in someone's broom cupboard. We were woken up every morning and night - they didn't warn us that construction would start at 8am. The walls are really not soundproof, you can hear everything and anything.

If you want to sleep well at night and have a comfortable time in Amsterdam, do yourself a favor and do not go to this hotel. Please avoid this hotel at all costs. The reason for this review is the following: 1. MOLD ALL OVER THE BATHROOM AND SHOWER. INCREDIBLY DIRTY. This also includes spiders and other various bugs. 2. Sheets were stained and incredibly dirty. 3. Power went out a couple times. 4. Woke up multiple times every night with itchy bumps across my body, probably due to bug bites while sleeping. 5. Room telephone wouldn’t even work. This is by far one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed at. Please do yourself a favor and choose another hotel for your trip.

We stayed for three nights in a tripple room next to the elevator, staircases, smoking terrace and entrance. The room was quite big and surprisingly quiet taken the location. Smoking was forbidden on the rooms balcony. The smoke from the smoking terrace creeped through closed windows anyway. The carped was skanky, the mirror in the bath never got cleaned in the three days we stayed there. There were stains in the bathtub‘s caulk. And the water tap did not fit the basin and was wiggling around. The breakfast was ok however the coffee machine was broken for the whole three days. Instand coffee was presented upon request. The last night a faulty fire alarm went off and woke the fully booked hotel. This hotel has some hygiene and maintenance work to do before I can recommend to someone to stay there.
