Great location at walking distance from most sights, as well as the direct bus 397 to/from Leidseplein/Shiphol, super serviceminded and friendly staff, clean and large room with nice beds. Fresh rolls and croissants++ for breakfast, and each morning a huge smile from the receptionist. They only have 16 rooms, and we could hear the neighbouring guests laughing at some point, but otherwise very quiet. Classical, steep and narrow staircase, and they have an (European sized) elevator.
Remember to email your expected arrival time, and keep them updated in case of delays, as reception closes at 10 pm.
Would definitely recommend staying here!

I just returned from a beauriful stay in Amsterdam, where I stayed 8 nights in this hotel. Great option for a 3 star, superb location, nice rooms with safe box, fridge, hair dryer...helpful staff...highly recommended.
5 minutes away from the museums quartier, 10-15 min. away from Anna Frank's house, a lot of restaurants, bars, etc nearby, trams to Central Station close by...
Great hotel.

Had originally booked for 2020 April, then covid happened, I had booked it through a booking agent who said they would not give me credit. I contacted hotel d'amsterdam directly and they gave me same credit till this April. Very efficient replies to email.
We eventually stayed this april. It is such a quaint small hotel, central to everything in Amsterdam. Its in one of those wonderful Amsterdam narrow houses. We loved it. Rooms clean, great character. All I can do is sing its praises and would definitely stay there again.

Really not all that was expected. My wife and her friend (whom I’d booked for) were put in an awful room and really not treated well. Finally a complaint got them to the room paid for but the pictures say it all.

Some staff were friendly but some not.

The location was good for central although not in a quiet neighbourhood but was a nice looking building

Great location. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Staff are very welcoming and helpful. Upon arrival we were given a map of the city and some recommendations. Lift is very handy with a suitcase. Air con was very welcome in the heatwave!

Stayed just a few nights on the tail end of a Netherlands/Belgium/Netherlands itinerary. Good small hotel for a short stay if you aren't expecting to get the Four Seasons on a tight budget. Very close to Leidseplein and easy access to/from the airport via public bus if you don't want to cab it, and you don't want to take the train to Centraal and then switch over to a crowded tram. Owners nice and helpful with information. Small elevator, but it's great for when you need to get your luggage up to the room without trudging up the steep staircase. Room a decent size - large wardrobe, double bed, cable tv and a mini fridge to store drinks and snacks. Free WiFi works just fine in the room. Bathroom small with just a shower and not much space to store toiletries, but shower pressure decent. Common area hallways are tiny so rooms really close together, so you can hear some coming/going from other guests, but overall it's a quiet hotel on a quiet street that's very close to lots of sights, shopping and restaurants. While most of the room was clean (bathroom, bed linens), the drapes and some other surfaces could use a good dusting. But for the price, it's worth overlooking a few minor flaws.

We stayed at the D’Amsterdam for four fantastic nights and I must say I am surprised to see the negative reviews left by other travellers, as my experience of the hotel is very positive.
D’Amsterdam is in a great location, with all the major art galleries within walking distance, other attractions are also close and easy to reach by tram, although we chose to walk most places. I found the room to be of adequate size, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a delicious buffet style set up served in a pleasant dining room, the food was fresh with ample servings of everything. The landlady was on hand during breakfast but I felt she was there to ensure that you had all you needed and to replenish supplies, rather that to “watch over you” as other reviews have mentioned.
We found the owners to be very helpful, especially when the Connexions airport bus failed to turn up to take us to the airport. The owner tried to arrange alternative transportation for us but when this was not possible, he drove us to Schiphol himself, which I thought was very kind and went far beyond all expectations.
We had a fantastic time in Amsterdam, made even more enjoyable by our stay at D’Amsterdam I would defiantly recommend it.

As a few reviews already mentioned it is in a nice location, close to the museums and transit. There are many restaurants in the neighbourhood but some did not look all that inviting. It definitely has seen better days. There was some stains on the sheets but they did looked cleaned. Stairs were crazy steep and narrow. Not for small kids or anyone with mobility or balance issues unless you plan to use elevator.

I booked this hotel through the Expedia link and was aware of the 7 day cancellation policy. However we were held up on a previous trip due to the Volcanic Ash. As this meant we had extra unplanned time off work we had no choice but to cancel the booking. So, 6 days 12 hours ahead of time we contacted Expedia and explained the situation. They were very sympathetic and said that under the circumstances they were sure the Hotel would not charge us.
However the Hotel refused. I then contacted them several times myself and they insisted upon charging me. I know it was not their fault but I would have thought that given the situation they might have relaxed their policy. Especially as they were probably benefiting from having extra bookings from others stranded there.
I checked on the day of my booking and found that surprise surprise they were fully booked and so had obviously relet my room. I contacted them again to no avail.

Are you inquiring if the hotel is walking distance to the Red Light District? It’s about 15-20 min walk. Not sure about cafes that allow smoking. You can do a search in Trip Advisor and use the filtering for Cafe and Smoking. Hope this helps.

Hi, all rooms do have private bathrooms, the best coffee shops are about 15 mins walk away I will recommend some of the classics like the bulldog cafe, my all time favourite which is very spacious is Coffee Shop Prix D'ami, another good one is The Grey Area. not sure about trams id probably say no more than 10 euros.

Sorry, I don't remember if there was ironing or not. This is a small, boutique hotel but, I believe, they did have laundry facilities. Maybe contact the hotel... they are great at getting back to you.
